I certainly don't see how criticizing someone's way of speaking is considered constructive. Here are some solutions to your problems: you can either (a) deal with it, (b) mute the audio and just read the subtitles, or (c) don't watch my video. Have a nice day.
@akjdslaks

@@YGfromSG No need to get defensive. It definitely feels like you're speaking in an unnatural manner, especially when compared with your older videos. Constructive criticism on your way of speaking does exist, since it's something that you can train and improve on. If you watch western news, you should realise that the news reporters all kinda sound the same, and that is because they had to train on how to speak, so that everyone can understand them, no matter what kind of accent they originally had.
@YGfromSG

That's because I put on a narrator voice whenever I make videos and also because I'm not a professional news broadcaster. Well, if you're calling my way of speaking "incredibly annoying", I also find your comment "incredibly annoying"? I certainly don't speak like this all the time and speak differently depending on who I'm taking to. For instance, I do use Singlish when speaking to Singaporeans.

I'm actually very curious about our reservist commandos. Many NSmen get fat and become unfit once they've done their 2 years. How about the reservist commandos? How do they handle their pui pui reservists? Since they're supposed to be commandos and have higher standards than the normal infantry etc.
@YGfromSG
@YGfromSG Год назад
Oh, I had a commando friend who's pui pui even during his NS days. Not sure how that works. 🤷🏻‍♂😅
@JoshuaHoe
@JoshuaHoe Год назад
There are many ways to handle during reservist which are up to the COs. For example, They can warn the men that if they don't get a silver, they will give penalties like an extra day stay in during weekend. Normally a simple pass is already below expectation even by the most relaxed CO standards. If the reservist CDO soldier kept failing his ippt, the chief commando reserve the right to kick the soldier out and deploy to other units, changing the reservist period from 5-6 years to 10 years. (Was what I heard during NS days). I even hear that previously there was a parade to give back the red beret to the unit, as compared to taking the beret from the unit. 😅 There are pui pui commandos even during NS days but they train like fk to at least get an infantry gold to qualify for the red beret

Singapore Army organisation is kind of weird especially the Divisional structure. Also weird why it's not called the Republic of Singapore Army. I first thought the US military organisation was confusing but over time it made more sense than the Singapore Armed Forces. In the US the unified combatants command had operational authority over joint forces. Whereas the Army, like its sister branches, was responsible for equipping, training and force provider to the joint forces. The army has no operational command. Also the US National Guard and Coast Guard had dual hats responsible for homeland security and HADR, and can work with other homeland agencies under civilian heads. The Singapore equivalent, the PDF chain of command is unclear. As it is under the Chief of Army, does it mean the chief has both operational and administrative command. Also why are civil agencies under Army command. A more sensible arrangement would have been to have the PDF organised as a separate branch - much like the US National Guard. Also not clear is the Divisions role. Is it a manoeuvre arms or a specialist doctrine arm. One of the divisions appears to be the guardian of infantry doctrine. And the other one appears to be focused on C3I or armoured.
@YGfromSG
@YGfromSG Год назад
Hi, to clarify some of your questions, my guess is that Singapore follows British Army traditions, similar to Malaysia whereby their army is called Tentera Darat Malaysia (Malaysian Army), and does not carry the 'diraja' (royal) title like the Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (Royal Malaysian Navy). During civil emergencies, the Army technically has overall operational command because the military has the most resources and manpower. However, there can also be a sharing of operational command due to mutual respect and depending on the circumstances, such as during a natural disaster whereby civil agencies are more familiar with such situations. Administratively, civil agencies are under their own civilian leaders. Singapore Army divisions do function like combatant commands and they are also responsible for respective specialist training schools. As mentioned in my video, 3rd, 6th and 9th divisions are combined maneuver arms. The overall doctrine development falls under the Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), but 9th Division, which HQ Infantry is subordinate to, is responsible for all infantry matters ranging from infantry training to infantry doctrine. Other divisions such as 2 PDF is responsible for the training of military police whereas 6 DIV is responsible for artillery and army intelligence specialist training and so on. Army formations or regiments, like Singapore Infantry Regiment or Guards Formation, within the Singapore Army only provide administrative functions and regimental colors, like having a family name, but have no operational command.

@@YGfromSG Hey. Thanks for making the effort to produce the video. When it comes to the SAF its role and mission are not very clear. Even the Ministry of Defence doesn't really publish much and when they do it is often more marketing approach not deep into history. As for following the British Army, historically, there was no unified army. There were regiments, and each regiment was an independent army. Some were raised by Kings so some regiments have the Royal titles, e.g. Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Some regiments were not raised by Kings so they don't have the title Royal. When the regiments were placed under a unified body, the British Army, the title Royal was left to individual regiments. I believe that is the case for Malaysia too. Johor, for example, has its own Army but can be federalised. So not calling Royal Malaysian Army make sense. In the case of the SAF that is a bit hard to explain. It is unclear if there is an official name for Singapore Army or the SAF is the Singapore Army. This might make sense in that probably the SAF is a unified military force, like PLA and the Canadian Forces. In the case of the PLA, the PLAN, PLAAF, and all others are subordinate to the Army. The Canadian Forces is probably the same as the PLA but in that case, the Army, Navy and Airforce are not separate branches but under the overall administrative and operational command of the Canadian Forces. The Canadian Navy and Air Force are probably in same status as one of the infantry regiment. Britain had a unified Navy and was raised by the King, hence the Royal Navy -- not the Royal British Navy as the Royal Navy is the official name. The Royal Navy was formed before the British Army.
@YGfromSG
@YGfromSG Год назад
@@pjs20thetube "It is unclear if there is an official name for Singapore Army or the SAF is the Singapore Army." The Singapore Army is the land service branch of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). "When it comes to the SAF its role and mission are not very clear." The mission of Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces is to enhance Singapore's peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy, and should these fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory over the aggressor. The Ministry of Defence has clearly published this mission statement.
@pjs20thetube
@pjs20thetube Год назад
@@YGfromSG Thanks. I have read the Ministry of Defence mission statement but as I have indicated, they read more like marketing speak than clarity, Let's contrast that with the US Army which says: "To deploy, fight and win our nation's wars by providing ready, prompt and sustained land dominance by Army forces across the full spectrum of conflict as part of the joint force". So it is clear that its mission and role is to train, equipped and provide forces to joint forces -- i.e. forces under a unified command that can comprise elements of Air, Naval, Coast guards, Marines or Space Forces. That could be any domain -- air, land or space. So the Ar,my can be under the command of a Navy Admiral or Air Force or the Army can be in command of other elements, depending on the mission under combatant command. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying you are wrong. What I am saying is your videos help to clarify even more. So continue with more.
