Singapore’s Insane Biggest Rail Project That Shocked The World
Hello and Welcome Back To my Channel Future Planet, Where we discuss all things Future !
The idea of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail was initiated through the Economic Transformation Programme to transform Singapore into a high-income nation. This project is expected to become the first high-speed railway in South East Asia and the fastest point-to-point mode of public transport between two of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant and fast-growing economic engines.

Clickbait. 1) nothing insane about the plan. 2) It's MALAYSIA's plan. 3) It has been cancelled (as many comments here already pointed out) 4) Malaysia has re-initiated talks to restart the project, but this is still talk at this stage. 5) Land that Singapore had initially set aside for the terminal of the HSR in Singapore has been re-allocated for other uses after Malaysia cancelled the plan in 2021. IF talks are re-started and plans for an HSR is once again agreed, Singapore will have to find another piece of land for the terminal. 6) As discussion for a (2nd) plan for HSR are in the early stages, and as the Malaysian govt is currently just coming out of the pandemic, and also trying to re-stabilise itself after 4 years or so of instability, nothing has been decided or settled, or committed. So the "facts" in this video are either reporting the previous (now cancelled) plans, or speculating as to future agreements which have not been settled.

@@mdxndy Singapore's *median* income (which is a better figure to use than average as it is not drstically skewed by top earners) was S$4,680 in 2021. That's S$56,160 per year. If we include the 13th month which is quite common here, esp in the public service, plus other bonuses, the figure is easily close to US$50,000 per year. In other words, 50% of Singaporeans earn below S$4,680 per month, which is not "most" as you claimed. You living 17 years here cannot compare with me being a local earner.

This project is not Singapore project. Singapore don't have high speed railway technology. It is actually Malaysia-China project (one of the China's belt and road project). Malaysia get large loans from China and have huge debt due to this project. The project has already been cancelled because the cost is too high. After 1MDB corruption scandal, Malaysia is trying to clear its debt and the previous Malaysia PM Mahathir cancelled part of the project that link the high speed rail to Singapore. The final railway station will be at the border near Singapore. However, the current Malaysia PM is trying to restart the project because clearing the custom between Malaysia and Singapore is a pain in the ass for many commuters. There are queues that last for hours to get through the custom during the holiday.
@fonzi461
@fonzi461 Год назад
The High Speed Rail stations for KL and SG are mostly on Malaysian side and hence income of its Malaysian people is not an affordable fare for Malaysian people to travel to SG and to travel within Malaysia, as well, too. Therefore it had to be cancelled, even though it costs KL to pay compensation of S$102.8 million as reimbursement to SG on ground work done by SG on SG side. Malaysia should build their own High Speed Rail within Malaysia at their own affordability of distance length of High Speed Train to meet and serve their peoples' travel within Malaysia. They can then add an MRT, Mass Rapid Transit system, from HSR Johor to Singapore's causeway side of MRT station, for connection to the Malaysian's Johore side MRT station for transfer platform to Johore HSR station. Some disconnected wait time is expected at this transfer Johore platform if poor timing of HSR and MRT train connectivity management is not maintained and sustained all the time. The breakdown cost of HSR will be on the Malaysian side. The cost of delay and loss of fares from cancellation of HSR scheduled trains will be on the Malaysian side too. Hence, SG will not to bear these common unrecoverable costs from train delays, train cancellations, absenting employees, breakdown of trains, fare loss resulted from interrupted breakdown trains, that mainly come from most of the HSR trains and stations in the Malaysian side. Hence, instead of Singapore in paying for them, They have no worry of them as Singapore will pay for their own one station at causeway or max at three stations only.

It just simply a reflection of their own words that carry no value.

He would put obstacles to progress and bashed Singapore at every election time to divert attention on his countries' woes. He would rather sacrifice his country"s benefits than to benefit a win-win situation for people of both countries. Thank god he is getting really old and no longer in power. This so called hsr project won’t be happening anytime soon or in the future if it were to be built by the locals who don’t have the technology nor any expertise in constructing the hsr system like those in China which has the world’s largest network of HSR. None of these 2 countries in question, have a fast speed train system in operation other than the regular diesel or electric train system which is now running between the two countries. Besides, if this HSR project were to be realized for the two countries in the foreseeable future, their system would definitely not be the first HSR in SE Asia, coz’ Laos & Indonesia have their HSR system already in operation, which were built by China.
