Angelina Jordan is a great discovery, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. It usually only takes one song to realize you are witnessing something special, but it will become even more apparent what a rare artist this is as you hear more of her stuff. Even for us fans that have been following her for years, she still somehow manages to surprises us with each new thing she does. For anyone new to Angelina, here is a little bio so that you can learn a little more about her background and her kind and caring soul....... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 16 - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos. - *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person. - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need. - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 170 songs and over 70 artists. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse, Lana del Rey, and Adele like nobody else) - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent. - Angelina has written five of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield", "Oslo", "Million Miles", and "7th Heaven" (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube) In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a beautiful world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music. - Updates: On Aug 26, 2020 Angelina's Manager/Uncle announced that she has signed with Republic Records as their "highest priority new artist". On Nov 6 2020 she released her first single under Republic... "Million Miles"! On March 19 2021 Angelina released her latest single "7th Heaven" In Dec 2021 her cover of "Mercy" was in the opening credits for the movie "The Hating Game" She has done so much already, but at 16 she is just getting started!!!

Great reaction! The wonder on your face was evident but Angelina does that to nearly everybody! You have now fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (150+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles (and many others in between) and do them all justice! And often, like here, she makes the song her own. If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. Rob has been working with AJ from the very 1st day Republic signed her at age 14. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.

You are halfway there. If you listen to even one more Angelina performance (and I really hope you do) you'll happily fall down the rabbit hole with the rest of her fans. At this point, I don't know what to suggest. The traditional rite of passage for new reactors to Angelina is her version of "I Put a Spell on You" done when she was only 8 or 9 years old. Most of us have a hard time reconciling the voice with the angelic little face and bare feet. Or do I recommend her latest releases? Her cover of Elvis' "Suspicious Minds" is nothing short of spectacular, and her live delivery of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" is amazing. She is now the ripe old age of 16 years, and her voice is even more mature and controlled now than when she graced the AGT stage. Whether you go for her early years or her recent recordings, you're in for a treat.

She is now 16, 6' plus tall, and her vocals simply get better and better. She was also a child prodigy who began singing at 18 months old, discovered jazz at the age of 3 or 4, and with the help of her grandmother, listened to and absorbed all the greats! She is, at her base, a jazz singer who can sing any genre of popular music. I'm 64, I've listened to all of the greats from the 1930's on to today, and she is the best I've ever heard, based on her unmatched vocal versatility.

Those of us who follow Angelina do so for her voice. She doesn't really do covers; you can always find the essence of the original artist and music (she makes sure of that), but she retells the story in a way you've never imagined. She does most, if not all, of her own arrangements, including this Queen classic. Her outfit is inspired by her grandmother's art, her bare feet are to remind everyone that there are others who are not so fortunate in life. I just watched you cover of Easy on Me by Adele. You have a lovely voice. Angelina also did a cover of Easy on Me, actually two, a Tik Tok version and a studio version. I suggest you listen to the Tik Tok and react to the Studio version.

You should see how she flipped 'suspicious minds' by Elvis, on it's head just like this, this year, at 16, on her channel. Would be a wonderful reaction as well. I like when artists do this. You bring your 47K fans to the table, maybe someone could look at it like you are using other artists cheesily, but it's just a smart idea and symbiotic relationship if you ask me. You both will gain fans who never seen the other before. Every little bit helps her take off that much faster once her original album drops.

I would suggest you check out her play list with 5 original songs and around 170 covers then pick any to be amazed. One thing I will point out is that I couldn’t understand most of what you were talking about at the beginning due to your background music being MUCH too loud. Nice initial reaction to one of Angelina's most beautiful "covers," which I prefer to refer to as total "re-interpretations," rather than covers. She always makes them her own & usually better than the original, IMO. I liked & subscribed for more Angelina reactions. She is just getting started professionally, but her catalog of music already dwarfs many current superstar vocalists. She is the best I've seen/heard in my 75 years & she has brought music back as a major part of my life after wandering in the musical wilderness for the last 20 years.

I really admire those reactors (such as you) who recognize greatness right off the bat. It tells me that you understand Angelina's art.... and there is a lot to understand. Angelina was somewhere around 5th in the contest (just guessing but Harvey the talking aardvark probably won). Some say that it was rigged but who really knows. Anyway, both sides got what they wanted/needed. AGT got great ratings and as Simon pointed out (after Angelina sang "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" for her 2nd song) Angelina made the whole competition much better by raising the bar very high. Angelina did get the attention of many producers and labels and eventually signed with Republic Records. Excellent reaction. Keep it going

Not much I can add to what has been written here. The only thing I wish is for Angelina NOT to be compared with any other artists. Every artist brings their own unique sound and abilities - if they are giving us music, then we should all enjoy the gifts they give us. "Good Music, is Good Music," no matter the genre. Lady you just dont know what you have found - Angelina today could earn Millions as Modell or as Fashion Designer and of course as best voice to date - she can sing from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Frank Sinatra, Adele, Amy Whinehouse, Withney and and.... - she is not only beautiful outside but also inside - for me she is a human Rolemodell - you got the reason for not wearing shoes from others and that she had helped in raising Millions of Dollar for children and climate care - she also was caught on a picture feeding poor and homeless people in LA - she was to see at the backround of a corner while doing this... name another celebretie or politican who had done this that way - they would have made good recordings and published it on theire Homepages but not Angelina - she also wrote a book at the Tender age of 9 and it was published in Norway which makes her the youngest published Autor in the country - she can speak 3 to 4 different languages in native way and also 3 to 4 different Instruments - i was about 3m close to her on Angelinas last concert in Norway July 10. and even the 30 minutes Soundcheck before the concert where worth the 3000km journey to Norway - i have subed to join your journey with Angelina - cheers from Germany
