She did sign with a major, major label -- Republic Records (Universal Music Group's most prestigious division). Her uncle Michael Astar reportedly negotiated an unheard-of deal that 1. Angelina would be able to move forward at her own pace (to at least graduate from high school before her first album) and 2. Be able to record her own style of music in her own way. Republic Records recognizes what a unique talent Angelina truly is and are being very patient and supportive of her and her development. They realize they have a superstar in the making.✨⭐✨💖✨⭐✨

A couple of Angelina’s originals songs have been released by her new label, and they are in the process of recording a new Album we hope will be released this year (I’m buying several as gifts). Huge AGT fan and I had never heard her before. How she didn't win in beyond me? I spend hours now listening to her on RU-vid. She's amazing.

She got the "Golden Buzzer" from the last judge, Heidi Klum. That sent her to the finals, where she sang a beautiful rendition of Elton John's, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. She failed to make the top 5 & it was won by a group of older big boys throwing around younger small boys in death defying tricks. Since it was all pre-recorded 3-4 months earlier than it aired on TV, the public couldn't vote as they do in the regular AGT. Instead it was voted on by 50 "Superfans,"(I call them "Stupidfans") one from each state, that obviously prefer gymnasts over singers. According to Angelina's uncle/business manager, Michael Astar, Simon had been trying to get her to sing on the show for years, but they always declined because of the restrictive, controlling parts of the usual AGT Contract. She finally accepted when Simon agreed to give her a non-binding contract where he had no say in her future. She needed a big platform to introduce herself to the American audience & AGT needed the ratings. It worked out for everyone.

She has lived for extended periods both in Oslo and in Los Angeles where Angelina now lives since 2020. She also lived for a time in the Middle East where she met the young girl who inspired her to perform barefoot after Angelina gave the girl her shoes and the girl said she would pray for Angelina. Angelina's mother is Norwegian Sara Astar, daughter of Iranian artist and poet Mery Zamani and a Japanese father. Her father is Gerry Christian Slattman, a petroleum engineer from Sweden. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School. It is an integrated primary, middle and high school with around 550 pupils. The school is considered one of the most prestigious schools in Norway. The arts play a major role in the Waldorf's curriculum and the activities surrounding the school. The Oslo Waldorf School includes a professionally equipped theater hall. Due to its long waiting lists, pupils are often enrolled shortly after birth to attend the school. Angelina participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received piano lessons and possibly some very basic vocal lessons. No attempt was made to change her style as that is not a good thing to do at any age unless one is hurting one's voice. In addition to singing and playing the piano, she plays violin, guitar and flute, and also paints. Unlike the US, the Norwegian system of extracurricular schools of music and performing arts (SMPA) is mandated by law. These schools are designed to reach all children and youth aged 6 to 15 in Norway. Given Angelina's love of jazz, it makes perfect sense that she would have wanted to attend an after-school program at such a prestigious and world renown place as the Norwegian Academy of Music. Unfortunately, it is not totally clear whether the Academy also ran/is the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program that Angelina attended. Sadly, Angelina’s paternal grandfather died in March 2018 and her maternal grandfather died in November 2019. Angelina’s maternal grandmother Mery Zamani has had tremendous influence on Angelina and her career as she introduced Angelina to jazz at an early age. Mery is a somewhat famous Iranian contemporary writer, poet and painter who was also child prodigy herself being on Radio Iran's Children program at age 4 and began writing poetry and painting by age of 9. The expectation was tremendous, you can see it on people's faces, on Simon's own, Heidi Klum's 'thank you for being here', the 'Wow' backstage. Simon feared (knew) that in a popular vote she would win, so he made up the whole thing about Cowell's fans, (sorry, superfans), and they tried too hard to stop her from winning, no one is stupid enough to put this amazing creature in 5th place in a talent show.

The aspect of being 'relaxed' and 'professional' on stage, as you mentioned, this girl truly has it in her 'DNA'. As a professional musician myself I can confirm that it's really hard and rare to achieve that state of "flow", that state of being one with the music in a live performance.

Everything you said can be summarized in one word, MASTERPIECE. The remaining members of Queen absolutely loved it and said Freddie would have loved it, as well. Your reaction was terrific and you touched on a lot of good points. One thing I can see happening to you is you are starting to combine her artistic abilities with who she is as a person. As that becomes one it elevates her to a level reserved for only one. To me, she is a Messenger of Love. Can you describe the feelings you get when you listen to her? Your heart cannot resist her. Who else can you listen to, and watch her sing the same song to you hundreds and hundreds of times and be on the verge of tears every time?

For me, this is the best live performance I’ve ever seen in a setting like this. Like you, I describe Angelina as captivating. You don’t know what she’s going to do with the next line, and you’re on the edge of your seat waiting to hear it. As you watch other live performances, you’ll see again that Angelina can mesmerize a crowd into silence. There’s very little applause during her performances because no one wants to miss anything. I’ve followed music all my life, and I’ve never reacted to a singer as I do with Angelina. Like many of her fans, I listen to her everyday. She is literally once in a lifetime. This was her arrangement. Queen when they heard immediately put it up on all their platforms. They also liked Angelina so much they let Angelina copyright her arrangement. Oh, her outfit she made that herself. The pattern on the material was made from one of Angelina's grandma Mery Zamani's paintings. She is a highly regarded artist and poet. The painting chronicles the journey through music that Angelina has made so far. They are all images of Angelina as she grows. So they had the material made and then Angelina did the sewing and cutting etc. Well just a few items to color in some of the periphery in Angelina's experience on AGT Champions.

Enjoy: Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RU-vid. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English, Japanese and Swedish. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On RU-vid, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina has concerts scheduled in Norway in July 2022. Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be. A genius arrangement and a vocal performance for the ages. Angelina did get the Golden Buzzer. Her family did not sign with Simon. Angelina re-recorded her version and owns the copyright. I believe Angelina was getting close to having an album ready after AGT but the pandemic hit. She ended up signing with Republic Records in August 2020 with two conditions from her family. First, she chooses what she wants to sing and secondly, to be allowed as normal a childhood as possible (she was 14 when signed with Republic). Republic has honored the agreement and has not promoted either of her two originals released under Republic, "Million Miles" and "7th Heaven". Angelina has promised an album this year and she has concerts in Norway on June 22, July 1, 7 and 10th.

Wonderful reaction. It's interesting that other reactors mention only the guitar as well. In fact, after she sings "gotta leave you all behind to face the truth," the piano takes over from there (with the guitar in the background). Her voice commands so much attention that the background is hardly noticeable.

Angelina, at the age of 13 is the only one who had the courage to look at the song and rearrange it so that her performance would reflect how she felt the song should be sung. It is all Angelina. What other singer, of any age, would have the musical knowledge to take such a brave decision and present it to millions of people?. As a matter of interest, before this performance went public, there were 79 channel owners Reacting to Angelina. Thanks for a review with real substance. They interviewed her before this performance and they asked her what she would do if she won. She thought about it and said, "I would be very humble and work really hard." Her musical genius plus her voice, her timbre, makes you just want to hear more. You could do her new cover of Adele's Easy On Me, or her older, but remarkable covers of Rihanna's Stay, Lana Del Rey's Born to Die, Etta James' I'd Rather Go Blind. Or Angelina's latest original 7th Heaven. None of them will disappoint.

Great reaction! As far as I know, she designs her own clothes - including that brilliant suit she wore for Bohemian Rhapsody. Moreover, she used prints from illustrations her grandma created for the children's book Angelina wrote and published when she was about 8 yo. Incredible!

To add a little bit more to Andy Schnell's nice bio of Angelina, a few more tidbits of interest about Angelina. This is Part 2. Angelina’s manager from the beginning is her uncle Michael Astar. From article of Music Norway interview we learn that Michael was raised in Japan and music was always his passion. After his family moved to Norway, Michael became a hip-hop DJ. As a 16-year old he was a DJ at 21+ night clubs in Oslo, Norway, getting the gigs because he looked older and no one asked his age before being hired. After getting tired of being a DJ, Michael started a music management company in 2013, and 3 months later, with no clients yet, Angelina signed-up to try out for Norway’s Got Talent. Angelina’s first audition when 7-years old was a cover of Billie Holiday’s song “Gloomy Sunday” that went viral when it got uploaded to RU-vid. Then Angelina won Norway’s Got Talent, had other viral RU-vids, performed on Norway, US and other TV shows and her career started to take off. Eventually she had over 1 billion views of her performances on RU-vid and Facebook before Angelina’s appearances on the American’s Got Talent - The Champions show. Her performances there further accelerated her career. At this point, Angelina asked her uncle Michael if it was possible for her to move to the US to pursue her music dreams. Michael says this was a tough call, and he asked himself questions like; how on earth are you going to pull this off? What about a VISA? What about finances? Are you willing to sell everything you have and own, and also get a loan to risk everything? Michael related that “These were questions I had to ask myself, several times a day. Then, I remembered, what did my mom do when she went to Japan? She didn’t even talk Japanese or knew anyone. She did it because she risked everything for a better future.” So, Michael flew alone to Los Angeles, studied and learned anything he could learn from the people he got to know during his time in the Industry. Michael says that it did not matter if you get exposure or not, it was out of the question to give away that many rights. This kind of patience eventually paid off. Michael said that “Some time passed and they again contacted me, asking if she wanted to sing on their show. I convinced them to give me a contract where Angelina is free from any deal if she performs, she is great for their TV show and Angelina will get the exposure she needs to breakthrough, because I knew, the talent is one of the kind like no other, I just needed her to be seen and was on a daily hunt for how to get the right spot for her in the USA.” After, Angelina’s success on America’s Got Talent, she eventually signed with Republic Records in August 2020 where Angelina was told she was Republic’s highest priority new artist. Michael says the commitment with the right interest in mind has been one of the most important things when choosing a team and partners to be part of Angelina’s team. “You also need to choose someone with the right chemistry. These are the people you have to deal with on a daily basis, you have to have a good feeling and chemistry with the team you choose.” Although no specifics yet, Michael says that the plans for Angelina include going global. Advice from Michael: “Go with your instinct, it never fails, crazy how nature does that. Always be humble, you get way further being a nice person, people tend to be nice back. She recorded this also without the audience when AGT did not promote her because of the lack of the contract with Simon for the right to appear on the show. AGT wise she had two more amazing performances on this show. There is also an amazing version she did in December 2021 (fan request) during her on line Christmas concert. About a year or so after this AGT performance she signed with Republic records. Her family and she wanted her to go slow and keep her a childhood not to become too overexposed. She generally was only doing concerts all over the world in the summers when school was out. She actually raised millions of dollars for charities as well.

I'd love to see your breakdown of Angelina's Mics in her performance of "I Put a Spell On You' Black & white in the studio. She uses one mic in the studio that I am pretty sure you will recognize. Again, I have no knowledge on this. She has a second mic again should be recognizable as she performs live with the band behind her. 'I'm guessing most of the vocals were recorded in the booth but I would love to know if there was any of both. This is probably Angelina's most Iconic performance and one of her most watched and I haven't heard anyone who knows how this was likely done. The most beautiful and best rendition of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' ever created. I'm almost sure you agree. She owned it and mastered her own Iconic Performance out of it. All Angelina. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 22 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years and toured with Barbara Streisand accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show that aired Dec 23 of 21, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. Rob has been working with AJ from the very 1st day Republic signed her at age 14. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.)
