Her and Heidi are close friends..as far as blowing up, her Album gets released in September,,,it will be full guns from Republic Records. This is Germany's Next Top Model, l think the models were relieved to find out she was just there to sing..l think Heidi hid this fact, to put pressure on the models.

Great reaction Andrea! Some people are saying that she's copying Amy or ripping off Amy, and that is what is fueling some fans in responding back. Most of us don't mind the Amy comparison when saying it as a positive thing. It's when certain people are saying it as a negative that they don't like. She did a really great job with this song because it is right in her vocal wheel house. Nice to see she had a bit of fun with this!

I would include Amy on a level with Adele as being thought of by Angelina as being surpassed only by her legendary mentor, the great Billie Holiday. There's a photo of Angelina hugging the life size statue of Amy that rests in front of the family home in London so that should tell you all you need to know about her adoration for her. She has, from an early age, received her mom's permission to cover Amy songs like this. Some of them did have a distinct, dark theme, which Angelina had to revise lyrics for, but the essence of 'Back To Black' still came through when she changed it to 'Back In Love', and her rendition of 'Rehab' went from a theme that was drug related, to one of simply not wanting to go back to school. It was a masterful revision, especially when you realize how young Angelina was when she wrote the changes. She even changed a rehearsal of Amy's 'I'm No Good' to 'I'm So Good', undoubtedly on orders from mama Sara who was in the room with her sister and uncle during the rendition.

She is SO respectful of what is appropriate for her to sing at a given age. When I looked up the original version of Mount Everest, I was shocked, then amused, at the original’s profanity, and Angelina’s witty and inventive g-rated substitutions to the lyrics. Angelina is wise… and creative and inventive beyond her years.

And there are many out there who want to ignore the fact that Angelina attributes all that she has become as the singer she is, was directly due to her one true musical mentor, that being Billie Holiday, an uneducated Black female who was self taught and never had a mentor of her own but invented herself as the most improvisational singer of all time. I guess they were all hoping it would be a 'Lilly White' singer like Adele.

@@ridgemanron I have often desired to see Angelina cover a song that Billie was most famously known for, “Strange Fruit.” It is unlikely to see this hoped-for performance anytime soon, if at all. If she were to perform the song, I suspect that it would be to pay homage to the difficulty of Billie Holiday’s troubled life. I can’t imagine Angelina attempting this song until she is well established, perhaps in her 30’s or 40’s.

@@peterhormell1511 -My hope and desire is for Angelina to schedule next year a performance on Billie's birthday, April 7th. The venue would be in either an intimate night club in Harlem, or some might feel it should be in the famous Apollo Theater to accompany many more people. Either way, it should be called 'A Night Of Billie & Angelina', combining video/audio of Billie's performances, and Angelina's 'in person' singing of Billie's songs. Now that would be a 'Jazz Extravaganza', the likes of which no one has ever experienced.

I checked your Angelina playlist to learn you haven't reacted to "I'm Still Holding Out for You" which is a demo Angelina recorded of a song by Brandon Lowry, aka BabyFuzz. Sadly the demo was never officially released but all parties involved are ok with it being on RU-vid. It's crazy for anyone to get "mad" because you suggest that AJ is inspired by Amy Winehouse. I think AJ's voice has more texture and range than Amy's -- but they are both comfortable altos with a ton of vocal fry and the ability to produce brilliant runs and riffs -- not to mention that they have very similar vibrato styles. That's precisely why AJ covers AW classics. The only other singer who is as comparable to AJ is, of course, Adele.

She actually played more songs from Amy Winehouse than from any other artist in her live concerts, total of 5 different titles (and for a 6th there is a rehearsal clip with a band), and often she played two different Amy songs at any concert with a longer setlist. As for Valerie, she started with it in 2018, and then sang it at all of her summer concert tours since. Unfortunately some of her older fans are unhappy when Amy is mentioned, and try to deny or belittle similarities and influences with/from Amy, causing controversies for nothing good. They focus on the differences, while others focus on the similarities. These are simply two different approaches.

Hey, Andrea! You're great looking too!😂 I have no problem with Amy comparisons. But she has so many artists who inspire her it can be confusing to go down that road. Her style has been called jazz pop which you allude to. We'll all have a better idea about this when her EP drops.

Angelina fans can definitely be 'triggered' by the Amy comparisons, but to me they come in different flavors and thus should cause different reactions. First, if it is a cover of an Amy song (or a cover of an Amy cover like this one!), I don't have a problem with someone saying how much she sounds like Amy ... though Angelina always takes her covers up a notch and agree that to be the case here. But still playing homage to the original performer / performance - including vocal similarity (can't believe how much Angelina sounds like Michael Jackson at the start of Heal the World, or a bit like Elvis on Suspicious Minds, etc!). Next, for a NON-Amy song, like Love Don't Let Me Go - if someone says 'Definitely inspired by Amy Winehouse', that's fine. 'Hearing some Amy influence' - OK. Where it crosses the line, for me at least, are things like 'She obviously is copying Amy'; 'Amy copycat'; 'Cant she come up with her own sound rather than mimicking Amy?'. VERY ANNOYING. I try to just let it pass. Or (as I think I might try in the near future): acknowledge Amy as an artist, but mention Angelina's versatility and as examples politely point (with links) the commenter to some of her recent performances which are nowhere close to Amy vocally - e.g., Crazy, California Dreamin, I Have Nothing.

As always our barefoot princess nails it. I do have a complaint about the lyric. Too much repetition of the title. I am an Angelina superfan. I flew to Norway last July twice to see her in Norway. I got to spend time with her and her mother after both concerts. I also have second row seats to see her in New Hampshire on September 22.

AJ is as stunning and poised as any of the models. As to sounding like Amy, AJ usually incorporates a lot of the vocal characteristics of the artist she is inspired by, sometime to the point of sounding so much like the original that I can not easily tell them apart in some sections ... it is part of her extraordinary talent. Listen to her sing I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor (10 yr old) and you may understand what I am trying to say. AJ does almost always step up the vocal complexity of the performance even if staying within the limits of recorded instrument soundtracks.

It is certainly not an insult to be compared to Amy, Adele, Aretha, Billie etc :-) All artists have their heroes who influence them and who you can hear back. So she is all of her heroes and 100% her unique self. Valerie in itself is for the musicians rather basic and also the melody line is not very complicated, so it really comes to mostly the singer to spice it up and indeed choosing the pronunciation to make it sound great and she does it great :-)

As a close family friend has commented, Angelina has been speaking English at such a high level of proficiency from an early age that it is practically her native tongue.
