I listened to Adele’s version and I did not get drawn in or get chills, she is a very good vocalist. I listened to Angelina’s version and lost my breath and teared up, this happens with each of AJ performances she forces you to feel like no other can. In my opinion “Easy On Me” is not the greatest song, it is a mediocre song that is great because the finest vocalist of our time has chosen to perform it, Angelina Jordan. Angelina Jordan has the ability to take the mundane and make it spectacular. If I were a song writer I would be beating down AJ’s door.

I like what you pointed out at 6:35 when you played her notes on the guitar. It adds a little perspective for people to hear just how many notes she "playing" with her voice. She makes them flow so seamlessly, that I think some people may not even realize how much she is doing. I would love to see you break down her run at the end of "Still Holding Out" on a guitar like this. I have tried to count the notes, but haven't been able to pin it down.

What is life, age 11/12, piano bar jazz style Oslo, age 12, classic style dedicated to her home country in Norway Shield, age 12, James Bond type vibe A million miles, age 14, dedicated to passing of her grandfather, ballad 7th Heaven, age 15, snappy jazzy Amy Winehouse vibe I'm still holding Out for you, age 10, not an original composition but a demo she performed which should have been recorded as her song. It was leaked and one of her best performances. Above the water, age 14, EDM that she performed vocally as an original with the band that wrote it Mercy, age16, music soundtrack for The hating game that was written originally by Duffy. Angelina adds to her singing with her vocal fry, raspiness, and being able to rapidly glide between higher and lower registers. Her falsetto to me is more of a whisper that transmits great emotion. I feel Adele is a more technical singer and tends to show off her power. Angelina for me is definitely more emotional and even though she is much younger, she sings as if she has experienced the emotions of the song. Seems like it was written for her which is hard to wrap your head around. Please remember to elevate your support for young artists like Angelina that you appreciate. Nice reaction and discussion. I, also, think Adele is amazing and she’s a truly great songwriter. Her melancholy themes like this song, however, are right in Angelina’s wheelhouse. Adele sings her lyrics in her own style. Angelina lives the lyrics of everything she sings, and you guys nailed that in your discussion. The emotion is different-and you feel, rather than hear, what Angelina sings. If I were a lyricist, I’d want Angelina to sing my song. Angelina simply has more vocal tools than anyone I’ve ever heard. What we heard today is power, breathiness, killer vibrato, falsetto, range, chest voice, and so many different textures that we don’t get even from great singers. I also will put in a recommendation for her just released Elvis cover of Suspicious Minds. It’s a tribute in so many ways to Elvis, but it’s 100% Angelina, giving us her unique take on the emotion so beautifully, and just knocking it out of the park.

The part that makes this work so well is the lyrics, "I was still a child" and then she goes onto say she didn't have no choice but to choose what she chose. That hits pretty deeply if you're a big supporter of this Talented girl, since you would've went back to watch all her videos from her still being a child and making big moves which isn't the ordinary thing to see. Adele still hit the pockets of feels tho that's bit there said about no emotion in Adele I kinda disagree with. Adele just doesn't fully embody the song cos she treats it as it's something thats happened within her life and she already moved on so can smile and be free of it, which conveys another emotion which I agree withbyou when you say that cos that emotion is one if a matured lady that has went through the phase, the story told is very real for both but the perspective of the song gives me chills for both and now especially if I were to hear Angelina and then Adele right after cos the noticeable POV points reveal as clear as day. In general, Adele doesn't commit to the raw emotions of the song as much anymore but she still sings it with so much soul. I think when she was fat Adele the emotions came out more ferociously since she was literally the outcast big girl with a big soulful powerhouse voice that nobody would expect cos of societal judgemental approach they spread to people(via the gots talent shows and all these stages that take the piss out of people when they look a certain way but then are shocked). I believe nowadays people don't give Adele that much credit cos its a similar thing they did with say Rebel Wilson, got used to an image and wanted her to stay that way cos thats how they know the persons onscreen character, however these woman that go from large to fit are literal diamonds and really the epitome of a sexy woman with true value of themselves. It isn't fair for the fans of these onscreen people to keep them in a box which is a health risk for them and all cos they just don't like to see the change, maybe its some projecting thing internalised I don't know, but it ain't something you should ever feel if you truely respect the artist. But where's respect gone? No one wants to answer that question lol

Angelina is great overall and in detail. In comparison, Adele almost sound sloppy or pitchy on short notes between ‘anchor’ notes. I already liked the appearance but with on board computer and apps, Lava me 3 suddenly makes sense.

Beautiful and different, but if she had the confidence of an AJ to truly and fully set anxiety aside for a few minutes, or channel it and use it emotionally, and trust people who say they love it, maybe even better right? Nobody likes the sound of their own voice. I don't think I can sing without loud music and vocals in my ears so I don't have to judge myself. One issue I have with reactors that are musicians is that they are there to react to the artist, but their conversations are about themselves. If you are going to react to Angelina, you can shove your guitar. It’s about her not you.

I'm not super super familiar with the song, though I'm sure I've heard it dozens of times. As another musician here, I would say the composition is not very good at all; It's merely good, like a bachelor senior project kind of thing, checking boxes and not underlined by anything really poetic or profound or even true to say. This I guess doesn't matter too much if someone like Adele or Angelina is singing it, however I think it's kind of important if you're thinking about 'iconic songs'. This one is, well, 'rife' is too strong a word, but it's full of period methods and affectations that will date it heavily, and not in a too favorable way, compsitionally. I loved this reaction from you both because this was the first one where I truly got a sense of your dynamic together musically and interpersonally (I'd watched maybe 3 others before and couldn't parse the snark into poetry effectively enough, my bad).

Clearly Andrea has no sympathy for those of us who suffer from ADHD. I use a guitar when talking to others to maintain focus, not to distract, but to keep my mind from wandering. So here even though I know Sean said, "isn't it annoying?" I am trying to have you see the reason some people do that. Angelina is just a stronger singer than Adele. Adele is a dynamite songwriter. Her songs and lyrics are some of the best, but Angelina and Daneliya Tuleshova, who is 16 on the 18th of this month, have both sung a few Adele songs and are just in a different league vocally than 98% of the vocalists out there. Just to let you know, the final vignette at the start of Angelina and her grandma Mery there together was letting us know grandma's back at her side. This was to show she was recovering well from her cancer surgery a month before this recording was made. There is a video that shows the family at the hospital for the surgery. I'll give you the link for it. Did you catch her hands when she sang, ' I give up!'? If you didn't, just watch it again. I don't know if this was spontaneous or choreographed, either way it was just another example of her using other things to emphasize the song. Angelina make the phrase a plea with an edge to her voice that is almost a cry. Then she launches into that, 'I have' which is a tough note to land on after that soft plaintiff, 'easy on me' just before it. That is 2X grammy award winner Rob Christie on the piano.
