The first time I heard Pavarotti I was 10 years old, and from that I was hooked to his powerful artistry, from that moment on I couldn’t tolerate any other voice like Placido Domingo and others that pretty much sound the same. It’s beautiful to see and listen to the Three Tenors because you clearly see Pavarotti’s greatness. I thought you would react to Pavarotti’s rendition of Torna a Surriento because you are from there, unless you don’t want to cry on camera, hehe just kidding. Turandot’s Nessun Dorma is recognized worldwide thanks to Luciano Pavarotti, the master, the greatest of all times, this is a wonderful rendition! ¡Bravissimo!

I've watched several reaction videos on "Nessun Dorma," and I must say I enjoyed yours the most. The others I viewed showed people who had never heard of Pavarotti or the aria. And their reactions were lovely. But your video is different because you know Pavarotti and the piece, and yet your reaction is itself "epic," to borrow your term. Pavarotti was indeed a "cathedral of sound" - beautiful, majestic, glorious sound. You make excellent observations. Your interpretation is spot on. And your reaction? The goosebumps say it all! 🎶🎵

He's still in character. In the movie "Croupier" about a casino dealer and his observations, last line of dialogue the croupier standing in his tux looking over the roulette table he's working we hear his thoughts that he "no longer hears the sound of the ball". Pavarotti is still in that small kingdom centuries ago and is hardly aware of the onlookers and ovation in front of him.

This aria reminds me of il mio nonno. I have goosebumps and drop some tears every time I heard it. I've never had a big emotional tie with my grandpa (he pass througt the orphanity and two world wars before came to Argentina and my dad's birth so he was a little tough for show his feelings), but we always were connectec by the intellect and the arts. My dad is a big fan of Pavarotti and it's not unusual find him listening Turandot or another opera with the speakers in full volume. Many year after my nonno's death, I had the luck of work in a radio of classical music and there was my tears and goosebumps everytime I had to broadcast Turandot, Aida and every wonderful piece of opera that remindsme my nonno Stefano.

I cry every time I look at that. When a spectular singer with talent and training and everything nature and art can give then gives his voice to a song, feels it with his whole body and mind and heart, then this can happen. He knows that he is good. He sees how people react and he has superior ears. But this shook him. He pulled himself together but his reaction was real. Wow! A person could train for a lifetime for a moment like this.

Franck is right to say that everything resounds when Pavarotti sings. He liked, when he chatted with other professional opera singers, to put their hands on his back while he sang to feel the vibrations of his whole body. His whole body became a sounding board that allowed him this exceptional power. In addition he had learned the pronunciation technique of the old masters which gave this clarity to his singing. His unique velvet timbre added to all this makes him certainly the greatest lyrical singer to have existed. It's a real phenomenon...
@christinerobinson548
@christinerobinson548 4 года назад
It is also his enunciation. His emotiveness. So much to learn from him just by watching. Aren't we lucky to have been alive when he was alive? And all of it recorded for us to enjoy. Even more than his performance, I love watching his face as he asks himself, was it good? And then, Yes, I did it! It kills me they fade the camera before we get his huge smile!

Luciano was not only a great (Fantastic amazing unique) singer, but a wonderful actor on stage. His performances were stunning, making you feel his own feelings with his face and body. In opera, where the people is far from stage (theres no camara zoom or any mic) the colorful makeup or big gestures are needed. Thats why Luciano makes that face at the end of the song, he is feeling the music, transmitting you the energy of his caracter. He was just from out of space, I recomend you listen to "No, pagliacho non son" it's just perfect.

Pavarotti's barrel chest was the root....the large root of his rich sound and I don't think any of the other Tenors gave us that ultimate richness. The story is also everything. Vincero..."I will win'.

The Opera "Turandot" its, briefly, about a foreing and misterious prince who wants to marry a princess, but she rejects him. So he makes a deal with her "if you find out what is my name before the down, you are free to don't marry me". So, she told to all her servants "sleep nobody!!! (Nessun dorma) Find out his name". "Nobody will know my name, only I will reveal it over your lips... when the night turns into light... go away, oh night! Dissapear stars! At the down I will triumph!! (Al alba vincere)". Its one of the most beautiful master pices of Giacomo Puccini, along with "E luceven le stelle" from Tosca, my personal favorite.

Pavarotti's old school technique is solid. Most singers don't want to put in the time and study to sing these incredibly difficult arias. They think because they can hit the notes, that's good enough, but it's not! They don't have the open throat sound that this man has. It gives you power and command of your voice without losing quality. He is a real operatic tenor, not the imposters that are singing now. Other great dead tenors are: Enrico Caruso, Jussi Bjorling, Franco Corelli. A great singer can make you love opera, an okay singer can make you hate it. Choose wisely! As for women, some greats to look up are Joan Sutherland (The Voice of the Century aka La Stupenda), Maria Callas (known as La Divina), & Leontyne Price. Mostly best to listen to them in their prime!

He had to literary push him out on stage. Barbara Streisand had such stage fright that not only did she throw up prior to a live performance. She actually retired for 10 years from singing due to stage jitters and fright. Yes, Lucia o had that great strong vibrato and range. One of the best in the world. Al

You are right, what do we say? Pavarroti expressed emotions in song so well my words could never do him justice. I can only listen to him with tears in my eyes.

No at the end he didn’t shock himself he tries to breathe without everyone notice it. He was a great tenor. Listen at him when he was younger.

Hello Captain. I'm a big fan of Pavarotti, the unique voice, a special talent that only he had.

I get the same reaction watching Secretariat in the 1973 Belmont Stakes. Perfection executed is beyond description. Goose bumps. Tears. Awe.
