What a pleasure it is to see this match again after 24 yrs....gone are those days when cricket used to be only cricket....miss that golden era...😍😍😍....thanks a lot Yasir bhai...for bringing those memories back...
lot of thanks for the upload...golden memories....sachin's first ODI hundred...a young McGra in his initial stages...magical Warnie....david boon & mark waugh....frm the indian side, the names of Azhar, Prabakar, Kambli bring sad feelings to the heart.....so satisfying to know tht we were witness to all these ups and downs......we walked along with giants....
i do remember this match well, Sachin first ODI hundred and that too during Ganesh festival, it was also my first match which I followed on tv during childhood
Remember watching this game at home in Bangalore. It was a rainy evening in the Garden City but fortunately, there wasn't a drop of rain in Colombo. It was great fun watching this game in the company of my uncles - the banter was enjoyable !!!
Thanks for this rare upload. I was watching this match and was mighty happy when Sachin got the hundred. Also it's quite a destiny that Sachin scored his hundred on Warne's delivery.
@Ravi All dear readers, one nice and important fact I'd like to share with you here. Mostly national citizens of a certain country often tease others that you're only a typical fan of your own nation idols. It could be me teasing others or even you teasing someone else. But before doing that, let's inspect the actual scenario. I'm telling this based on my experiences in India. Your experiences may differ from the following. Fact is that most of the common people didn't have TV back in 1970s and even till mid 1990s. So society people mostly used to gather and be openly welcomed by the little 'royal' families who had TV set at their home. Those times, watching even India matches was hell of difficult task as Doordarshan didn't used to telecast every single match. If watching India matches itself was so difficult, obviously watching other nation matches in India seems a far fetched dream, as there was no internet or private network those days to watch any channel across the globe. So this is the VERY REASON WHY MOSTLY INDIANS HAVE WATCHED ONLY INDIA MATCHES AND CAN RECALL MOSTLY INDIAN HEROES. But I must say, I was lucky to experience both India and other nation matches of golden times like from 2000 till 2002. Especially I've watched other nation matches more than India matches, all thanks to espn, the best sports channel I've ever watched. I've watched Tests and ODIs (at least highlights of) WI-Aus, Eng-Aus, Zimbabwe matches, Ind-NZ, Ind-WI and several other quality contests. All the heroes then, like Sherwin Campbell, Alistair Campbell, Andy-Grant Flower, Lara, Nasser Hussain, Trescothick, Butcher, Stewart, Wavell Hinds, Marlon Samuels, Gayle, Jacobs, Ben-Adam Hollioake, Flintoff, Hoggard, Graham Thorpe, Cork, Gough, Mullally, Astle, Fleming, Mark Richardson, Vincent, Styris, Macmillan, Oram, Cairns, Harris, Tuffey...... THE LIST OF LEGENDS IS SIMPLY ENDLESS !!!! They weren't just players or entertainers, but the WHOLE TEAMS OF SA, NZ, AUS, SL, ENG, WI, ZIM AND INDIA WERE EDUCATORS. THEY HAVE ACTUALLY TAUGHT CRICKET AND LIFE BASICS TO ALL THE WORLDLY PEOPLE OF THE ENTIRE GENERATION. SALUTE TO MY GLORIOUS '90s AND 2000s CRICKET !!! I think espn gave me so.much sports knowledge which is never available as a package ON ANY CHANNEL NOWADAYS. I've watched all of cricket, football, F1, cycling, skating, tennis, boxing, golf and somewhat even wwe, polo, horse racing, basketball, baseball, billiards and rugby back in 2000s. Getting to watch such quality sports on a single channel in India is beyond impossible today, despite so much technological and overall progress. Sportscenter program was really amazing and it covered news and updates of all sports, not just cricket or thereabouts. Really love those days of glorious 1990s and early 2000s !!!!!!!!!! 🏏👌👌👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
We miss those days when 240+ was a good total to defend in an ODI... These days 240 isn't a safe total even in a T20..everything is done in batsmen's favor; small grounds, thick bats, fast outfields, field restrictions, etc. Those days they didn't have any of these favors and still they had to face bowlers like waseem akram, courtley Ambrose, McGrath, muralitharan..... Those were the golden days of cricket....
@@2dayis2010 LOL.. Pakistan team of this Trash 20 era is a JOKE! Ditto for the Windies & Lankans. Hardly any competitive teams with quality bowling attacks left, esp in Test cricket

When we were in school, we used to copy Venkatapathy Raju and Rajesh Chauhan's bowling style. Rajesh chauhan is also famous for a 6 he hit in Pakistan to win the match
LOL u must be a total loser to copy raju n chauhan action. Rest of us were copying fast bowlers like Donald n McGrath n Walsh. And u were copying a nobody like raju who bowled lollipops 😂😂😂
To be very honest, victories in those days, were very hard to come by for us Indians. Lots of talent we had, but most of the times team crumbled under pressure and gave away from winning positions. Any victory over Australia, man it was like a festival celebration.

Those who have good memories will remember it was Ganesh Chaturthi and Sachin believed in Lord Ganesha utmost. He was not getting his first ODI century for a long time. Maybe it was a Divine Gift. After that, centuries rained from Sachin's bat. Sachin's kit box had Ganesh and India tri-colour photos. Regards

Indian team in those days was only average in world standards. They were no match for Australia, South Africa, West Indies and even Pakistan. They struggled to win any match in SENA countries, even winning any match against Australia, South Africa in India became a big news !

Cricket glorious! It was tough Cricket in those times. Almost all the players from both teams have played tremendous amount of Cricket and left a mark. Good upload.
Still, He was a good player A useful lower middle order batsman was asked to open the innings In '92 WC, he batted at no. 10 At about number 8 in the first 5 games of India' s maiden tour of RSA And by England's 1993 Tour of India, was asked to open with bat
This match brings back so many fond memories. It was 1994 and Sachin many a time had come close to scoring a ODI hundred but could never get it. And then finally the moment happened. I also have lot of personal remembrance because that was the time I bought the Sportstar for the first time dated 3rd Sep 1994 with the cover having the picture of the 4 skippers playing the Singer Cup. Boy, those were the days!
just amazing feeling...Ganesh Chaturthi Day....first Century of Sachin in One day International and beginning of SAGA........i mean who would have thought of hitting Six with dancing down the wicket to Mcdormott...but Sachin did.

Did anyone notice that in this video we have " apna purana doordarshan Wala machhar" achanak se 90s ki yaad aa gai apne bachpan ki. But 3gp me Match dekhkar maza aa gya . thanks for uploading
When the time, most of the players afraid to face the pace of McDermot, young Sachin blasted his face by hitting Six & fours in his Maiden century, who was made for the Century... And the all rounder who opens with bat & ball, Manoj Prabhakar, looks like a Cine Hero. He is the NightMare of Pakistan, at that time... Good team effort to conquer a tasty victory against the mighty Aussies...
Mcdermott's pace was nothing in 94. In fact except for his maiden season his pace and bite was not usually there. He was brilliant only in short bursts thereafter. The particular spell which made me Billy's fan in the 90s was his 6 overs spell in the last league match of 92 World Cup against West Indies. He bowled with express pace, accuracy and hostility there. Such spells were rare in his career and usually came only against the Windies and England!!! My fascination of Billy's bowling grew thinner as I discovered his lackluster performances throughout his career later on the late 90s and early 2000s.
All the Legends played in the same match ...... Amazing Win by Team India ..... The Fact is - this was the Maiden Century for Master Sachin Tendulkar !!!
Those days 240+ was a good total for defend but now 240 is not safe in t20 Cricket . In real sense those were the golden days of Cricket with splendid memories. Those days there was no T20 Cricket no IPL and any other Cricket League.

Azhar gave a feeling to all players that they are all under the care of greater person, like parents gave care to their children so that the children playing happily, when children grew up and have to take care on its own like studying , earning money then the children started to feel sad and struggle.
Anil Kumble's spectacular catch, Rajesh Chauhan dismissing the dangerous well set Mark Waugh & David Boon, Manoj Prabhakar's yorker to dismiss Steve Waugh & his good fielding (2 catches & one runout), Sachin's fighting century....... Complete team effort.
I very fondly remember this match, after a long streak of good innings..sachin finally got his 1st odi hundred Bt in our town due to heavy rains, there was no electricity for 5 days and we listened commentary of this match on radio..... Wow what days were those, cricket was at top level,as runs were hard to get by,nything above 220 was considered to be a good score..and if ny team got above 300 then it was considered to be a sure shot victory for them...... I really miss those quality players nd that cricket.....
