To preface this, I'm not a vocal technician or anything like that, and this is my opinion. The way he's singing that high note sounds VERY unhealthy to me. It's hard for me to listen to because I can imagine the strain he's putting on his vocal folds. There are a couple of healthy ways he could be adding that distortion and it doesn't sound like either of them. Also, the fundamental kinda drops out and is hard to hear in parts of that phrase; the unevenness might be part of why it sounds so unhealthy to me. He's straining his voice to the max there. Maybe for most it's a cool sound, but I personally can't get past the feeling that he's destroying his voice by singing it that way.
@souhardyaroy9983
@souhardyaroy9983 Год назад
@@JGMeador444 That's true and you can also notice in his recent performances that it has taken toll on his voice. Singing that high,out of your preferable vocal range, will affect your vocal cords anyways. But you know what, that's what makes this song unique and one of the greatest rock songs ever.
@Nick-zn2uq

@@JGMeador444 You are absolutely right. He is singing way out of his range, there is no natural vibrato. People might argue it works well for the song, but it is definitely not a healthy singing technique. I played a talent show in high school where another band covered this song with a very gifted singer. Probably 16 years old. He hit those high notes with really good breath support and technique, and it sounded incredible.

@ArTdEcO008
@ArTdEcO008 2 года назад
I was too so much, it's a shame that her version wasn't included. I agree with you that her top notes sounds like it has much more of a chest connection than the other singers that sounded more heady. I still think that she is able to sing it with a balanced mixed voice though and not chesty in the way that it would be chest-dominant. It's just because she has stellar technique along with a very high voice that gives her more tone and power in the note as her voice doesn't thin out as much there as most of the other singers in the clip.

It's because he uses a bit of false fold in his falsetto notes. False fold is pretty common in metal and hard rock but not as common and pop which most of these singers are. Probably because he couldn't hold the up and down in the end, but I agree that at the first three "dream on's", he was the best

I've been in a shitty mood all day... I watch this and can't help but try and sing them high notes with the singers... very good. Very impressive. I wanna learn this song word for word now. I've always enjoyed this song when I hear it. Its DEADLY!

1. Brendon Urie 2. NPH 3. The girl on the piano And then everybody else. Going three semitones up is impressive, but the song loses a lot of feeling in any other key.
