Also, Jennifer Hudson (ugh & annoying), Ariana Grande (mega mega ugh trash), Laura, Keira, and Vanessa pale severely in comparison to Laura Fabian, Regine Velasquez, Sohyang, and Glennis Grace. Those four are top vocalists along with Whitney.

Whitney's control on that top note in chest (power, dynamics, color) and switching to head voice smoothly, is unmatchable. I liked Jennifer's vibrato speed she made it faster. cause usually her vibrato is wider. And Aliee tone is beautiful.

True. After Whitney's version, people tend to focus more on how vocally powerful this song is. But I love listen to the original version (Dolly's version) sometimes to be reminded of what a heartbreaking song it is.
Dolly's original is so beautiful! It's sad to see how many people do not realise that she's the original singer. It's like that also with The Power Of Love. People think it's Celine Dion's song but it's Jennifer Rush who sang it originally.

Came out of the gate with the heavy hitters! Jennifer H. and Ariana can do no wrong with their vocals! Ailee can sing her ass off with any song. So Hyang and Regine V did it effortlessly. And ended it wonderfully with Jessie J! I've been binging these. I love em!

raising the key does not make it beautiful at all. The point of the climax was the resonance, tonal beauty and the breath support, in this one even sohyang is out of breath on the first belt...not all climaxes her done for just high keys, it is where you can reach note that gives he best effect..Whitney got the sweet spot and added the transitions and the big round timbre to bring it home..nO ONE HAS IT HERE... She is the only one that has sang that song ] taking only 2 breaths in for the entire climax, the first part is 14 seconds of belting and transitioning! and the second belt is 10 seconds ..No one has duplicated save her and she did it in Atlantic 1993 and radio city music hall 1993 version..Check it out and her voice was like thunder because the chest tones accenuated the resonance..

I'm surprised Jessie J sang it a minor third lower. She's a soprano, so I don't think she needed to lower the key so much. Many of these performers should probably sing it at a higher key.
I agree. Quite a few of these singers seem to be at ease as if they could sing higher.. But I think it's about smart singing. Of a singer can belt g4 any day, B4 on a good day, but a D5 on their BEST day, it's smart to sing in a key you can sing ANY day. Overall, even though Jessie J could sing this song a tone higher (Bb4), it seems she took a route her voice wouldn't have to work hard.
Why isn't Leona Lewis in this video is beyond me. She has one of the best attempts when she was on the x factor. But No one can match what Whitney Houston did in that song
I must agree. Her resonance is the closest, but I still hear Whitney’s having more density and a piercing quality that every singer on here seems to miss.
Lara is the best followed by Regine ( a little low note for regine's powerful voice) Lara can be somehow more powerful or atleast on the same power as Whitney's original version.
