Celine’s tone quality throughout this line is amazingly stable. That’s why others singer just seems can’t sing it right. Eb5 is not an extreme high note, but it’s a tricky note to sing it right and pleasant. If they use the wrong technique it’ll sounds forced and pressured.
And another thing that bugs me is there should be no breath: "....my heart will (breath) go on" There is a truck wide spot after the high note to allow that phrase to be sung through. They may be trying to pause for effect, but theyre using it to catch breathe and its a no-no.
Jessie J's version is my favourite, the emotion behind it is amazing, and the fact she did a rendition as incredible as that while trying not to faint for the whole performance is astonishing. I love the power she brought to it, and how she put her own style in it without overdoing it!
Umm she totally oversang. And she had zero softness and vulnerability in her voice, lacking versatility. Celine mastered this and took us through a journey of power and gentleness during the climax, that's why her version can't be beat.
@@danielbenitez6985 it was a competition and she was sick while singing this song.. She pushed herself to another level while she sick.. she isn't oversang this song except for the last climax for a reason this is a competition and not try to do like a karaoke..
because her music is atrocious. Bang Bang made my ears bleed. Doesn't matter if you have a great voice if you twist it into shrill and shrieking sounds in your songs.
it feels kinda off when you add growls and too many runs. This song is best sung with a clear, resonant, and stable voice like Celines. the song really builds and you have to be able to maintain that strong note without too many embellishments Celine best interprets the message of the song which is all about love. Her voice is both strong, unwavering, yet it also sounds very passionate and vulnerable which is what love should be like.
She sang it in a take or two. Maybe she didn't interpret it that much (she did not even care about this song at the time of the recording). That is why it sounds simple but strong.

It blows my mind how some singers that have no problem singing much higher notes with stability, struggle so much with this. Celine Dions version is the only one I can listen to.
The difficulty if not the note but the quality of the tone. Celine mixes it beautifully and keeps it covered throughout. When you just belt it or go to head voice it sounds squeaky or thin by comparison.
Exactly. Celine's edge is her immaculate and cannot be topped resonance. It was just not about hitting the note, but hitting it with a healthy and full resonance. No one does it like Celine.
They can as a tenor I wish to one day have at least a c# in chest I don’t yet and I barely have a b4 for me that’s where belting ends and I think the highest I’ve belted is a b4 maybe
JENNIFER HUDSON PASSED CELINE WITH ONE TONE AND 2 SEMITONES HIGHER, YOU CAN HEAR THE DIFFERENCE AND ALSO, SHE HAS A FULL VOICE, RESONANT, FOR ME JESSIE, MORRISETTE AND JENNIFER ARE THE BEST HERE! END OF STORY!
OH MY GOD, It's obvious that there will never be a better version than Céline's. Céline has shiny, clear, powerful belts and does it effortlessly, her voice is unique! It's amazing the growing dynamic that Celine does throughout this song, starting with a sweet and delicate voice, passing through regions of high mids belts and always with a lot of emotion, beautiful vibratos and very well positioned, until reaching the apex that is simply amazing in a her voice! I really loved Ariana's version with James Corden, Tori Kelly's version (which unfortunately is not in the video) ... Morissete, Ally Broke (also not in the video, but it's worth seeing
Wasn’t done in one take, was done in one session that was considered the demo she just never re-recorded it. She had as many takes in that 1 day that she wanted lol
@@uhuhuh1966 nope, lotsa direct sources say she only did it in one take, even Celine herself elaborated it in multiple interviews. If you listen to the alleged draft of the actual demo, you can actually hear no audio cuts between each phrases. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nj7uhfUQQdk.html
While other singers can hit the note really well, there’s always something missing. Céline has a certain tonal quality and musicality that was literally MADE for this song. No one will ever beat queen Céline ❤️ she possesses a rare gift.
I am a bass who can hit it, but definitely not the way she can. Just because someone can hit the note, that doesn't mean they can do it in the same way. My overall vocal range extends beyond Celine's, but that doesn't mean I can do it better. She is one of the top tier voices, and that's a fact.
@@darkknightrisez9140 not really. Whitney vocally yes. But in terms of the lyrics no. The song isn't coo cooing love ballad. It's about saying goodbye to someone forever. Dolly emotionally wins that one. There are much better Whitney songs
There's really no topping Celine for this one. That being said, Jessie's rendition which took "heart" in a more literal meaning really did send a shiver down my spine.
It's not just the high note it's the soul, the dynamics (those lil runs are everything especially at the climax), the tone, the resonance and the clarity which everyone lacks except Celine I mean they are good in certain regions but this song was made for Celine Dion you can't top her you just can't.
you clearly didn't listen the jessie j one in full, cause she is lacking nothing in that performance (maybe a day rest and at least 1 rehersal so she wouldn't be so nervous but then it would lose the charm as well)
@@itssteven4184 emotion darling emotion. I felt more emotion in Jessie's performance than I ever did in Celine's. It sent the shivers down my spine. Clearly you aren't emotional person and you lack the EQ.
Celine is Legendary))There's no question)) But For me Jessie's version is very powerful! Especially the ending)) she captured the soul of this amazing song))
Céline has always been one of my all time favorite singers! Jessie J is truly incredible! Jessie has quickly become one of my new favorites and she slayed this performance !
Jenifer Hudson almost blocked my ears 😂😂😂 it sounds to powerful for my liking When she went for the climax it sounded Like when my mum sees me at our neighbors house lol
Amazing video, THANK YOU for respecting Jake's identity and leave his dead name well... Dead. It's the 1st singing channel that I see respecting his gender after he transitioned.
Just a clear thing that Celine did Eb5 note with full resonance :))). And after her, almost nobody could do it once again. Even she did D5 in lower 1 semitone it Still has been Full Resonated.
Celine’s rendition is SO hard to beat. She has the most incredible voice. These ladies did really well even though they had big shoes to fill. I have to see her in person.
First off, I just love watching these vids. Thank you so much for them all. Gosh, NO ONE, not even Hudson should sing this song higher. Goodness! The first male singing, to me, was the first sign of originality if only cuz he was male. The rest of them were just trying to prove they could match Celine. But rhinestones, even tho they sparkle like crazy, are not diamonds.
Aside from Celine's original, Jessie J's version was so INCREDIBLE! I remember tears falling from my eyes as I watched her performance that day. It was very heartfelt because she was suffering from a heart problem and was in danger of getting eliminated from the Chinese competition back then. She gave her heart out and the result was the BEST RENDITION of the song aside from the original! ❤️❤️❤️
There is something in that recording version that Céline herself has never been able to replicate. Maybe something about that just one take that she did in the recording of this song.
Many of these singers sang it in the original key and some even higher, but Celine owns this song. NO ONE HAS EVER delivered a better version. Her Tone, her Clarity, her carry through, her resonance is unmatched. I am not necessarily a Celine Fan, but she is an amazing singer.
One thing every other singer is most certainly lacking in their rendition is versatility. The way Celine can transition during this climax from as powerful/passionate as 0:24 & 0:28 , to as melodic/vulnerable as 0:35 , is just one of the many aspects that set her apart as a true vocal legend. This is what makes the other singers come off as if they are kinda just unskillfuly shouting their way through the climax.
I think other singers just add too many embellishments and trills when singing the climax of this song, when I think Celine truly mastered the execution, and even though it was written for her, it's still her song, so obviously. But, Celine's voice and ability is legendary and she's more than capable of doing all of that extra stuff if she wanted, but her buildup to those high notes is perfection. And there's not a lot of head voice mixed in, it's almost entirely the full force of her chest voice carrying those two Eb5s. (D5s live most of the time) That just shows how effortless the notes truly are to her, whereas other singers, as great as they are, have a much thinner sounding mixed belt bearing more of its weight in the head voice. Also the pronunciation of the phrases, Celine does them very theatrically as opposed to the more contemporary way most of these covers do them. For example the word "Fear." Celine sings this very theatrically as, "FEE-yeh," as opposed the "FEER," or the vowel change to the long "A" sound to where it's almost "Fair," which singers do because it's much easier to belt that open A sound than an open E, and isn't that noticeable and is pretty common.
Yh but the bit slightly later on in Jessie J's performance when she goes into "We'll stay forever this way" for the SECOND time and goes up even higher was the real showstopper moment of that performance & worth a watch for everyone who hasn't seen it 💕
Everyone (over)focuses on hitting the note because it's a huge interval between "there's" and "no-" so they miss the change in contour that Celine makes by starting the "o" a bit closed and then immediately opens up the vowel wide and imparts power. It sounds like a glide, but it's not. Celine sings "there's n°awww-thing..."
I think everyone in this video did an amazing attempt, but Celine’s voice is just not outmatched when it comes to her own songs. Well in my opinion of course. SO HYANG Did an amazing job as well.
I am going to tell you something. What makes this note special, is that Celine sung it with a very chesty approach, but with perfect technique. Some people try to do it in that way and end up sounding shouted, other try to mix more balanced or heady, and it sounds VERY throaty, others use the chesty mix through the whole song but then suddenly change to a very bad heady mix and it sounds like if they are struggling. Why it is so hard? I don't know a lot about vocal pedagogy but it seems like D5/E5 is the passagio from a very chesty mix to a more balanced/heady one in most females (sopranos and mezzos) and is hard to master that part.
We have to remember that the original version we hear by Celine is the original demo she recorded as well. So there's was little to no practice whatsoever when Celine recorded this song, it goes to show how great of a singer she is. Every other version of this song I hear just isn't the same. Celine's tone was stable and clear. Other singers just can't seem to get the stability on this part that Celine had.
5:06 Why does it say 1 tone and 2 semitones? The jump from Eb to F# is 3 semitones or 1 tone and 1 semitone. Not to mention that 2 semitones make up for 1 tone, so why do you use "2 semitones"? Genuine question.
Music is about emotion, too. That's why Celine keeps moving audiences with this song. Other singers are just worried about hitting the high notes. Jessie J was the only one who felt those lyrics.
Only Jessie J deserves here and Genavieve,SAM BAILEY AND no one else. Honest God! They are able to catch the note, also the child Celine Tam is great and fabulous. I'm adding myself too there! :))))
I’m pretty sure there’s a story about Celine still recovering from a cold or something when they recorded it, and that it was also just supposed to be a tryout demo so it was done in one take and then they decided “you know what, that’ll do”. Side note, Dimash somehow makes it sound like he’s a deaf person with perfect pitch. That’s no shade to deaf people, I just mean there’s absolutely no attempt at differentiating between vowels or even slightly pronouncing consonants.
Yeah she didn’t really want to record it because she didn’t love the song but her husband convinced her to do just one demo. She apparently drank a lot of black coffee beforehand too which is why her vibrato is way faster than normal in this song compared to her other songs. They just used the demo vocals because it came out perfect the first try.
@@exoduswick156 his voice is incredible, that’s no question. But his actual pronunciation of the words is often adjusted to the extreme in order to make the note that he’s singing sound as good as possible. All singers do this of course, but I feel like he takes it to a new level, to the point where the lyrics have little to no importance. He may also not actually speak English so he could be learning these songs entirely phonetically, the way opera singers who aren’t Italian or German often have to. That would explain mispronunciations also.
@@yael9137 he's currently learning English and Mandarin, with his first language being Kazakh. he's way better at English now but if i'm not wrong that performance was in 2018, and it wasn't too good then. he most likely did learn it phonetically, which was probably also the case for the English songs he performed in the show "Singer". at that time mispronunciations were common for him
Uh, Dimash is here as well. This isn't his best performance compared to his other stuff, but yes, he can go in both male and female categories. One of a kind!
@@alejandrotamez562 takes feel out, because its to over reaching on certain notes, you gotta hit that with feeling and control then. "and I know my heart" was very sharp
Once I’ve heard, a song doesn’t have to be sing if there is no emotion in it. This song definitely have it, giving goosebumps from the beginning to the end of the song, not only do the high notes. It needs to be sing like if the world will collapse tomorrow.
No one tops Celine still. There’s just something graceful, yet powerful when Celine belts. Her belts are never too loud or overpower the emotions of the song, like a beautiful siren ringing with unique tone. Other singers are just belting or growling too much, showing off their techniques but lost the simplicity of the song. Still, Jessie j and moriseette are pretty awesome.
Of course Celine is the best. I really like Emma's tone too! Sam has nice resonance, but she tends to swallow some of her words. I really like Morisette's too! I like Jessie, but she always overdoes it with unnecessary vocal acrobatics. Jennifer's was a hot mess. She just seems to have one volume. Bellow as loud as you can. Dimash just seems to be all about showing off. His voice is quite thin in his mix. I know SoHyang is technically good, and I've tried to get into her voice, but I just can't. Her voice is just so thin and over twanged. It has no core or fullness what so ever. Even Eb5 sounds like a low note for her. I think it's possible for your voice to be too high. So for me personally, Celine wins!
He shows off what he can do, but little envious haters would feel threatened by that. Besides, I don't know what you mean by thin, because I think is stable and controlled
I like them all, they are all excellent. The accent, style and type of voice might make the song a little bit different even they sing in same keys but I actually love all of them ❤️
