SINGLE and RETIRED in CHINA! 

I had been to China back in 2002, 2006, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2108, 2023. Every time I went back I experienced and saw things changed drastically in positive way! China govt definitely did a lot of great things for their people. I really hope Chinese people don't forget to appreciate what the govt have done for them and the country. Not too many countries could do what the China govt could. China is amazing.

Hi Kirk, I have visited all over China, from Dalian to Lijiang. I found Chengdu as my sweet spot, and all the small surrounding cities are amazing, like Zigong. Hope to get back to China soon. Great watching your videos.

100% agree I will retire here in the future, been here more than 20 year, one difference is we own properties here and not renting so different cost base, my home city is Shanghai and everywhere in China is very very safe, I cannot say that about anywhere else including the UK

My Chinese wife and I laughed so hard when you said if you were with a Canadian woman your age she would be a hag! I am 63 and my wife from Shanghai is 55. We both work out daily and we are in great shape. If I were to look for an American woman my age most are just old hags!

When you said "entitlement," you kind of reminds me of how Elon Musk said he felt coming back from a trip to China - "incredible sense of entitlement " he found here in the US. @ 1:49,you can’t retire and live on $1500 retirement income in USA, Canada, or UK. $1500 won’t cover a modest 1 bedroom apartment in any major or modest sized US cities where Public transportation is expensive and not extensive or convenient. New Car ownership is out of reach given the cost of a new car and insurance payment. At least in China a retiree living on $1500 income can live in a decent apartment, take subway and high speed rail to almost everywhere in China. As an added bonus that comes with living in China you don’t worry about being mugged.

The boat people lived on boats by tradition, but not by choice They were excluded by the mainstream society, kind of like the Indians in reservations. In more recent history, they were moved to rest of the people.

An honest share of thoughts. You have worked out what's best for you. Yes you will have a better life in China, considering personal safety, cost of living, and the chance to get a good new partner. Hope you will consider doing some work for the local community as a return for the happiness this place has given you.

That area you are in now looks like it is just a few hundred metres from where I live I get the equivalent of 5 thousand RMB a month from my two pensions from England. I spend around 2.5 thousand each month. The two thousand I give my wife for bills and for her to save for any future medical needs I may have to pay for. I also have over 400k in my bank account which I saved from working as a teacher here in China so my retirement is financially secure. We also own the home we live in which is worth around 500 thousand RMB I can vouch for the beer drinking. I was on Zongxing bridge a week ago and an Ambulance pulled up. The driver got out to ask me some questions but I had no clue as to what he was saying. A bit later a police car pulled up and the officer came to me and asked me some questions. Apparently someone had phoned the emergency service saying someone was going to jump off the bridge. He asked me what I was doing and I told him I was just resting and having a beer after doing my shopping. He could see I had a bottle of beer in my hand but he said nothing and left. If I was doing that in England I would have been arrested or fined. Do you ever see when the kids are sat on the bikes facing the rear instead of sitting the correct way?

I hope retirement in china works out for you. I have some distant chinese american relatives who retired in china in 2006. Bought a home and lived there most of the year. They loved it. Now they planning to sell and return to america. Their friends have moved or passed away. They lack a support network over there. I'm not even your age. No wife or kids. But my family worry who will care for me when I'm old.

I think it depends. On the western side of the world people are becoming homeless, and are starving, but not everyone has the same situation, and has the same lifestyle. Regarding myself my lifestyle is different in comparison to other people, and vice versa. There are people who do not like being on a boat, and living on a boat, but there are other people who do enjoy being on a boat, and living on a boat. Regarding myself, I been on boats, but I never had an opportunity to live on a boat. There are people who live on the western side that travel on boats, and live on them as well. I think there are people who really like boats on the western side of the world.

Interesting I am watching How to Retire in China and Single and Retired in China at the same time. Still lots of good info. I am 35 now. Just recently bought my second house in my home country. Goal is 5 houses before 50. So far China has been able to help me with this plan. Every 2-3 years I am able to pay off one house...Lets see if being a landlord can help me retire early in Asia.

Hahaha so true about women here in Canada. My wife is Chinese and she looks 10 years younger if not more, because of genes maybe, but because she takes care of her, doesn't eat junk all the time like white or black women here.

I think the drug addicts and homelessness are results of bad influence of non european culture on utterly naive maybe rich european generations of distant and recent past. The most alarming however is how certain people had started mixing with people who in most other civilised places of the world would just be put behind bars for correction or deported or killed , that is not the liberal open attitude people had fought for I am pretty sure , some people surely had taken the whole concept and movement in a direction that cannot and did not lead to good results. I mean if something is not producing good why stick to it why invite evilness inside ones house, it makes absolutely little sense.

On one of your future visa runs, why not visit Taiwan? It might give you a chance to get to know some Taiwanese people and understand them better - such as why the vast majority of them think of themselves as Taiwanese and not Chinese. They're also exceedingly friendly, the streets are safe, and, yes, you can walk around with a beer in your hand.

I couldn't retire in China, knowing what's happening in the north-west of China. I do take comfort in knowing the government won't survive the next 10 to 15 years, and so many people will be liberated.
