Love this channel and you seriously deserve more subs. My SS is soon to be made and cannot wait after the wait so far and the wait to come. The price of the DS after importing is just a touch too much for my wallet. Plus I do listen to a lot of rock and EDM so I think they are the slightly preferable choice. The pleasure of being able to support such a small company with such a great product from all over the world and being part of a pretty elite group is such a thrill. I know my Burson Soloist 3x GT has the power with the SMSL D1se, but in complete contrast I have the Fiio K11 R2R coming so it will be really interesting to try the budget R2R, 3x GT and HQPlayer to tweak with.
I really like the all purple colour option of that double sided tungsten you have there :) to anyone unaware of these headphones - they are Very difficult to drive requiring researching amps that are a good match to drive these voltage demanding babies
@@MasterMarslander not sure, as its so much better than any other headphone i've had in every category, i can't really fault it in anything. Im interested in the modhouse because i'd like something slightly different (but just as good) and because i really like what modhouse stands for.
@@kaz8297 I can't say with certainty, as I haven't heard the Empyream 2 yet, but in a nutshell the SS is more intense, focused and impactful, while the DS is more open, staging, and resolving. I'd grab the Tungsten you feel better contrasts what you experience with the Emp 2. I've only heard positive things about the Emp 2, so hopefully I'll be able to give it a listen myself sometime soon.
this is exactly what im thinking. love my hd800s, but I want more personal and perhaps something better for metal and tracks that arent recorded to perfection. I think the SS is right for me.
Unfortunately, the Hugo doesn't really have enough under the hood. They would be very quiet. The golden rule for Tungstens is an output range around 1.5W into 300 Ohms.
@@WoodstockG54 Ah! That changes things! Yes, I think it will be just fine. It will depend on your preferred hearing level, but if you stick around or under the 85db level then you should be solid.
I ordered the double sided from mimic audio on February 4th, it's like 17 weeks, their site says 20-24. I really hope that time is accurate as when I bought them, it said the wait time was less. I got both the ferrum oor and flux mentor to try.
That lead time sounds right. Last I talked to Ryan about orders he said over 20 weeks of lead time. It's worth the wait! And you are well set with power sources, bravo! I'm working on the Mentor review now.
@@MasterMarslander I compared the OOR and the mentor, the mentor is just more resolving, doesn't thicken the sound, has more stage, has more power, and with 2 of them together supposedly you start to get a tube like sound. And of course even more stage and headroom. I'm getting another mentor when I sell the OOR, and goldensound said there's a company working on a higher voltage amplifier specifically because of the evolution the Tungsten may bring, that might work better than 2 mentors.
@JohnnyADi I have the dual Mentor setup on the test bench now. It's uh... pretty dang great. But yeah, there are some really impressive looking amps on the horizon.
