@@ShockingPikachu Wouldn't surprise me tbh. Especially looking at some laptops today. Mine's a 2009 Macbook Pro. Fucking love it, but I'd never buy another Apple product again, not with what they're up to these days. I prefer to just keep my electronics running for as long as they're physically able of anywho, better that than landfill.
The fact you can open any DankPods video without ever having watched any other, and understand what he is speaking about is insane. We always get an explanation of the terms, yet it only takes a few seconds to not annoy people who does know. My only confusion when first watching DankPods was the 1 grit - but never anything about the audio related topics, because he explains it so well (and yet so fast)
yah, talks about thing in terms of sensation, like you kinda get it implicitly, you know? Not in terms of technicalities and jargon. Which I do think has its place when you get to really technical high level enthusiast discussions, but this is really nice for everyone.
As a spanish speaker that thinks of himself as a well rounded english speaker, i love that his bad mic segments sound like complete and utter gibberish to me.
Absolutely. I've seen this video like 3 times to have a look at some of the headphones because I am a cheapskate and keep thinking about getting open backs. I do have a pair of sen hd400s. I like them a lot. Now for some open backs? Maybe. Maybe this time. Ill put them in my Amazon cart and then next week I'll take them out.
Apple 🍏 would be ashamed for dat! 0 headP-hones jacks is just more innovating these days. And yes, the little one could be used for little music too, let's not bully the little music mates!!! 😂
Honestly that second pair of Koss headphones look exactly like the kind of thing you see in schools and offices all the time already, but with genuinely good sound. They'd be great for filling up a classroom on a budget
Yeah people have told me they think I’m using school headphones even though I have the beige color. So when I let them try it out they’re amazed. There are different styles which can be more stylish, but I still think they look cool, like the beige and white ones.
I just wanna say that I appreciate the fact that you go over the same information in different videos without trying to skip over it. The number of times I have to backtrack through someone's content just to find out where the hell a specific piece of information is drives me left crumpet up the wall, so it's great to know someone knows how to teach. Of course, it doesn't quite matter to me personally since I just binge every video you put up, but hey! It's good for others and I think that deserves to be mentioned!
@@Kexa_the_Scribe Like "better" than dirtybuds but quieter even on full volume. Get a btr5 and a balanced cable with those HD58x and you'll get a good combo even for your phone.
@@SausageFingers420 Well bois there is also the newer version with a dark grey color on Sennys website available, but I went for that classic blue grey stone marble finish tho. Anyways both of them are a great spend just look out for what u like^^
Being honest, I’m not an audio guy, I have never been one, and probably never will, yet this is probably my favourite channel at the moment. I don’t know how he does it but this ozzy fella makes everything just so entertaining. Good shit👍🏻
Fully agree! My fiance is an audio nut, and for years he's tried to get me to notice the subtleties in music, why some songs are great and why some are horrible because of some noise he (alone it seems) can hear. It all goes over as well as me trying to explain color theory and how gray has many subtle tones towards reds, blues and greens that can make or break stuff, but it's all just gray to anyone else. Dank here has really found a way to reach people like us and I'm starting to understand by some fraction. At the very least, he's spoiled my ears to my old Samsung and Monoprice dirtybuds, and now sport a set of KZ's proudly!
honestly, I basically just watch him cuz he's entertaining, my bad headphones coupled with my hearing deficiency probably render me mostly incapable of even telling the difference between headphones sound but im here anyways
The Koss KPH30i are my go-to headphone when I need something quick and easy to listen with. The only thing about them is they're made out of the same plastic as the spoon Wendy's gives you with a Frosty. So if you don't mind your headphones feeling like disposable cutlery, I recommend them for the sound and mic quality.
I mean, it must be the same mate, it just has to be. It's unfair to all human kind if this is not the same person behind those stories. Just think of the movie they could make about that just one guy with those amazing stories... Man, I'll be on my tablet writing a book about that mate. Lol
@@ashkitt7719 Kids only pay attention to yelling until they get used to it. Use it only when you need to get everyone's attention for something. Just random advice
I got some KZs for work to make calls through and they are a game changer. I’m in an open plan office and they cancel out everything around me and the microphone is incredible for talking to people. A great recommendation!! Cheers Dank 😊
I actually bought the KBear KS2, based on this video. They are amazing, and I'm noticing things in my music that, on other headphones, would get mixed into the background, and on these are distinct and clear. Thank you for this video. I nearly cried when I first listened to my music in the KBears
I would actually be super interested in an instagram page or something that points stuff like that out, every time he mentions something like that I always go listen to the song with my fancy headphones to be amazed that I hadn't noticed a small detail
A little tip from an HD 58x owner: take out the foam on the outward-facing side of the drivers. This mod improves the cans by literal miles. To get the foam out, you take off the pads and the foam its resting against, take a long, thin implement like a screwdriver and put it through one of the holes on the cups, and then carefully push the metal mesh out from the earcup. Just take the foam out of the mesh, put the mesh back in, and re-install the pads. When I first got the 58x's, it sounded like I was listening to music with socks over my ears. Then I did this mod and the detail just picked right up, it's great.
I would argue otherwise. While taking the foam out might improve the sound (subjective), it would be at the cost of exposing your headphone drivers to dust and what not. Worse case scenario, you accidentally knock off your drink and some of it enters the driver. The foam is there for a reason. Now, you could argue then why the HD600 doesn't have a foam as well? my answer is that the exposed driver is well protected by its inner plastic housing.
Nah, sound wise it doesn't do anything. Sennheiser confirmed this, in their massdrop forum they mentioned how the foam is acoustically invisible. The foam makes no difference to the sound, it is only there to protect against dust and other yucky stuff.
@@FalseNihil i am rockin dt 990s aswell and especially if you browse around yt a lot you will run into videos with poorly mastered audio. sometimes i have to switch to different headphones or speakers because it can actually be painful, even at low volume. When you want to get 250ohm's plan for a beefy amp, these fellas suck way more juice than you expect. I can Highly recommend the dt990 pros tho. I absolutly adore the sound. They are super detailed and go way down in the base and almost start to rumble without sounding "muddy"
Despite now having a very large following and a great track record with producing high-quality reviews, Dank still lets people know that this is just his opinion and to see what other people have to say too. Thanks for staying humble and honest, Dank.
Me thinking "wow, that pair of headphones sounds really good", then realizing the headphones I'm wearing to watch the video is making those good noises.
I have really cheap Sony's that were a hand-me-down from my mom when she needed a quick pair for work meetings, which have a bit of a booming bass but my ears are hypersensitive to bass to the point of sometimes even getting physically ill from it. Eventually I want to get a new pair of headphones that are more balanced and nicer on my ears in general, but your explanations in other vids + the comparisons in this video about the raw frequency response of headphones allowed me to look up my exact model on RTings and I was able to easily understand how to use my computer's native equalizer to adjust them to sound better to me!

@@Ahab2710 they're more or less on par with the newer AKG 240 Studio (Dont get the mark 2). The 600ohm 240s are more comfortable by far, but theyre also a bit more expensive and a LOT harder to drive.
@@Ahab2710 the stock earpads (fake leather) are fine, they are comfortable enough, sometimes they are slightly disturbing to your skin if you listen for a long time. I purchased an extra muff pair online, they are more confortable, but they could be stuffy, especially during hot days
The HP studio headphones sound like something you'd hear at a 5 star hotel with those distant speakers high up in the ceiling. It might be the piano music but you cant deny the fact that it sound something straight out of a hotel.
13:42 "Two headphone jacks.. tHaTs mOrE tHaN oNe!" God it's refreshing to see someone take a step away from the snobbery of headphones and bring some actual personality into the vids. keep up the amazing work
Just ordered my pair of Samson's - can't wait to listen through my very first set of open back headphones! I'm excited to listen to my Jazz Playlist with the Soundstage!
@@QuarTheDev My favorite is when he crashed his dad's car when he went out shopping with his mom. His mom was mad the groceries were destroyed, his dad was mad that the car was wrecked.
7:05 I immediately grabbed my chunguspod with my KZ ZST iem's and gave Toxic a listen, and damn, I have never heard that song like that. So much more detail that I've ever remembered.
I, for example, have never noticed the plucky synth behind her voice during the bridge ("too high, can't come down...") But it's still as much of a banger as I remember.
I bought a pair of Samson SR850s and been using them for a couple of months now. I love them! I use them for gaming, but also for watching videos on RU-vid and mixing my drum covers. They are really comfortable and the sound stage is amazing! I would recommend them to anybody!
That phrase gets bandied about a ton in the photography world, mostly to describe lenses that are cheaply made but have sharp optics. I didn't realize it was really used outside of the camera world tbh
I have several pairs of the Samson SR850, and I'm a fan. Inexpensive with a great sound. I've found that buying aftermarket pads improves comfort immensely. The stock pads are not very tall, and your larger listeners may have their ears pressed against the driver housing. Aftermarket pads widen the soundstage further, are way more comfortable, and look much better.
Can we just talk about how amazing this is not only does he go over so many great headsets but also ohms and gives dac recommendations then tells us the price while explaining everything along the way just brilliant
The best advice I ever got when taking lessons in audio engineering/producing was to always listen to the mix on a phone speaker to get a good feel for how it would sound on the cheap stuff.
Only with good equipment can you tell when a track is intentionally distorted. On everything else, you'd think it was just the speaker. deadmau5 - Ghosts 'n' Stuff opening kick vs the rest of the track.
I just want to thank you for all your contents I studied music technology for 3 years, never really learned about headphones to the extend you’ve taught me! Even just the basics! I used to live in the U.K. (now Spain) I’ve had lots of different makes of headphones in the past, (beats, house of Marley’s, skullcandys) and I took your advice and spent that little bit more money on some WH-CH710N’s and so far they’ve been great! So thank you! I’m tempted to buy some kz pros too for taking with me on walks and stuff, just want to thank you for all your contents! Keep it up!
honestly i wouldn't be opposed to open back headphones other than the fact that my parents would be able to hear me watching some ordinary gamers and moist critical
@@stealy9608 then you would like open backs, you can still hear things around you, i play mine pretty loud and the bleed on my HD560s aint that bad i can hardly hear them once i take them off listening to some heavier metal
I love your channel. I’m not really into anything that you’re speaking of. I just find you extremely funny and entertaining to watch. I’ve recently got thru a hard breakup, and I just want to say that your videos were increadibly helpfull when I was at my lowest. They gave me joy I could’t find in anything, and for that I want to thank you. I wish you and your channel all the best, you deserve it.
That was just classic and understated. Hello from the united States, where bass is king. I prefer more traditional sounds and agree for 50$ or less you can get great sound. The original headphones with the first iphones ( 3,4 5 6) were the best sounding headphones ever! Don't know who made them for apple but kudos.
The fact his subs and views are almost absolutely equal just proves the amazing ness of this content, I cook wash dishes and clean listening to these videos, my type of asmr
Considering how all of these may have different availabilities depending on where you live, having more of these honorable mentions in general is pretty nice.
@@hedgeearthridge6807 I went for the ZSN Pro X and the BTR5 from the previous reviews. Amazed. Mind opened. Then I got some used HD600. Was disappointed. Got a balanced cable. Confirmed that they were under-amplified on the single ended cable. Have purchased many more over ears and IEM since.
pretty pleased with my audio technica ATH AD500x but seriously curious how those Sennheiser ones sound! Those K52's I had. not bad at all, just not a fan of how it sits on my head with that band.
I love my AD700X's. Seriously prefer them over my Sennheiser IE80's or Sony WH-1000XM4's. Vocals are just stellar on them! So worth the $150USD! Also most comfortable headphones I've ever worn
I had an old AKG k.44 that lasted for 10 years and I didn't treat it nicely, it was always with me and I threw them around. Then I bought the knew K.52 and it stopped working in less than 2 years with much better care, I was so disappointed, I tried to open and resolder it many times. Now I bought the ATH M-30x and I'm liking it
I bought a set of SR850s so i could practice guitar at night.... and theyre amazing. Ive paid more and got less with headphones so im mildly impressed with the SRs, especially for $32
You channel is amazing. Almost skipped it because it didn't have time stamps in the video when looking for a budget headphones. Luckily reddit reintroduced me. ended up getting Samson sr850 . Excellent times. Thanks DankPods.
Bought those because of DankPods Samson SR850 are just amazing, really wide, clear and picky sound, the bass is not loud by any means but tight and quick! My first good-old headphones were HD439, nice times as a teenager
So glad you introduce me the HD 58x and mate , its incredible how they sound for their price . this gonna be my first ever open back HP . Paired it up with zen dac v2
I'm somewhat treble sensitive so I prefer a darker sound over something with a lot of top end. I don't mind missing the details if the harshness goes away. That is why I like the Koss headphones, and perhaps that's why others do as well.
Ironically just recently purchased the Fiio BTR5 based solely on your recommendations here and throughout other Videos, and I can say it has been the most valuable purchase I have made for my Music in ages! I haven’t even heard 4 whole albums yet, and I’m already 100% sold and crazy for the thing!
