I am really curious to know something, i learnt from a bricklayer in india that after brickwork, the walls need watering for at least 7 days to help proper cure the mortar so that it could achieve its full strength. but i don't find this practice in the UK. i wondering what is done differently here in the UK with the mortar that it doesn't require curing.
Hello, hope you're well. I've never heard of that before. The cement is mixed with sand and water, the water starts a chemical reaction within the cement and it goes solid. It'll take the best part of a month to achieve its maximum strength. That's all there is to it really.
Why don't you use kingspan or celotex insulation with a gap on outside wall .I'm not a builder but all of the extensions that I have seen lately have a gap unlike your insulation which is touching both walls
Brilliant vid as usual, your work ethic and your team are an inspiration pure class, noticed you like a bit of,chilled trance, I have a channel that’s just music only for a genre from anjuna, been following, I’ll post a like unless you say ok, my son in law reckons your bricklaying skills and your team provide you with the support. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks again for the quality work, youtube.com/@rayshaves423 hope you enjoy the music, these guys have been around for over 20 years and the artists have grown with the genre, when I was working it would be earbuds and iPod all day, takes the boredom of tiling a kitchen or bathroom😂 Have a great year 👍
Thank you andrew. We've had far too many set backs on this job and Christmas came just at the wrong time, so we had to go in and carry on. Thank you for watching, all the best.
Love it, I’m contacting Carol Kirkwood for you but as yet had no reply 😏. Brickwork looks great and there’s something so satisfying watching you lay them. It’s not been the best weather window I can remember for outside building work so the progress you’ve made has been excellent. Thanks for posting happy new year and I will see you again. 👍🏻. All the best Mike
Haha! Let me know when you get her reply, although she's probably too embarrassed to send one!!! Thanks yet again for watching, we really appreciate it. Have a great day.
Really neat job guys... love your dedication and philosophical outlook. Hate those lightweight blocks though... try getting a fixing for a wall unit ... argghhh!
Thank you John, that's a great comment to get first thing of a Monday morning! As for the blocks... totally agree. They are really easy to use but a nightmare for reasons that you've mentioned. Unfortunately we've never had a building inspector allow us to use anything else! I'd much rather use fibre lights but by all accounts that's a big no no! Thanks again mate, have a great day.
Top job again you Brummie boys 👍 funny how all the people out there 'oh love to work outside,in the sun ect,' not so keen to join you when the weather like this ,other six months of the year🤔🤣🤣🤣
Hi guys and happy new year, just wondered if you had to get a party wall agreement for that job as I see the neighbours have some brickwork near the house?
Hello Kevin, happy new year to you mate. Yes there is a party wall agreement that the customer sorted out. We always insist that our customers do. Hope you're well, thank you for watching and sticking with us.
Looking good guys! Maybe I’ve missed it somewhere but will it have sky lights? Looks like it’ll be quite dark if they aren’t going for sky lights in that extension
What I have gathered is that as messy as it was in the footings and setting out. Work that will never be seen or appreciated. it is probably the most important as the accuracy of everything else is dependent on that. So spend the time get it right and it will make life easier as the build goes on.
Noticed that you used different bricks in left hand corner where you had to go deeper with your founds. Is that because they are engineering bricks which reduce damp penetration
I have been watching your videos from the start.Making my way steadily through them, still got quit a phew to go but that said keep up the great work and keep those videos coming.
Hello David, thank you for watching our videos! It's ace that you're enjoying them! Hopefully you'll continue to do so but please let us know either way, any constructive is very welcome! Thanks again, take care.
Hello Richard. No, not really. First of all the fence won't ever come down unless it gets replaced, it'll always be there. Plus the majority of the block work is between the two buildings.
Thank you Terry, high praise indeed! I don't get the pick and dip technique, it's not for me but it's earning a lot of people a lot of money so fair play to them but I'll stick to what I know! Thank you for watching and commenting mate, really appreciate it. All the best.
Getting there mate, a bit slower than we'd like but we're getting there. Thank you for watching and your continued support mate, we really appreciate it.
Hello Steve, hope you're well. Yes mate, nearly done, although we're seeing this job out to the very end so we'll be here for a little while yet! Thank you for watching, take care.
@@mrabuilders6723 Yes, most are chipped before you even get them out of the pack, the frost kills them in a few years, plus you use so much muck laying them, and they are so expensive these days, I could go on, even though I haven't actually laid one in about eight years! Ghrrrghh!
