Somehow the link doesn't work for me, so I´m sorry for putting it here in comments, but I would love to see your reaction on "Ready or not" movie from 2019 (if you haven't seen it yet).
I feel like score isn’t really talked about much with horror movies, but sinisters score is so haunting. Like the main score when he’s watching the videos. Gives me chills just imagining that music
The soundtrack is mostly 1 song that is about 24 mins long from a group call Ulver. The song is called Silence Teaches you How to Sing. Its pretty epic and its some of the songs that are playing during the taped murders.
When I saw it opening weekend, the score was what got everyone squirming. I loved it as it really adds so much. Without it, the movie wouldn’t be half as scary as it is.
According to science this is the scariest movie of all time. The study found that viewers had an average heart rate of 86 beats per minute (bpm) while watching Sinister, compared to a resting heart rate of 65bpm, while the movie’s scariest moment saw the numbers shoot up as high as 131bpm. Others movies in this list are: Hereditary, Insidious, The Ring, The Conjuring and A Quiet Place
@@gojewlasorry, thats a movie myth. that scene was reshot atleast 2 times, i know one reason was because of the blood pack not working right and once the creature getting stuck in his shirt and not popping out. the amount of blood used in the scene wasnt what was told to the actors, so they do react to that a bit, but they didnt use the first take on any of shots for that scene, so what we see in the movie is when everyone already knows whats gonna come.
This movie is super creepy but I think they showed the villain a little too much. If they had kept it to very blurry, out of focus, or distant shots of him it would have been more effective imo. By the end he's so visible he just looks like an extra in a Slipknot video
Pretty sure they showed the villain off a lot because the executives got involved. Which 99.9% of the time when an executive for the company gets involved it ruins the movie. Like the jump scare at the end, they made them put that in because they felt the ending wasn't spooky enough.
Glad you guys watched this one, Sinister has some of the best tension building I've seen in horror cinema, not the best ending but the first and second act are legit fantastic.
@@xXturbo86Xx Thats like 80% of all jump scares. There are very few jump scares that come out of nowhere completely. If you watch enough horror you can often feel em coming miles away
I felt the exact same way after watching this as y’all. This was so disturbing- the tension throughout was good, but when that final twist was revealed…yeah, makes you want to vomit a little, you know, after you’re done turning on every light in your house and locking your children in their rooms with multiple commercial-grade bolts.
@@NikkiStevenReact I’m way to chicken to watch movies like this myself, so y’all reactions are the closest I will ever get to watching them 🤣 I will say though, that y’all reacting to TWD and the Skybound compilations got me into The Walking Dead. So thank you!
I must say that Sinister is genuinely THE ONLY modern horror movie (post-2000s) that creeps me out till this day. I mean sure, just to be fair there are other horror movies. But they, to me, could only be categorized as thrillers and nothing more. Maybe I'd give credit to the first Insidious because of its originality. But Sinister? Man, from the time I first saw it in the theaters (which was late at night) till now, the horror is visceral. Almost like how "The Exorcist" was seen back in the 70s. And just like the second Exorcist, "Exorcist II: The Heretics", the second Sinister sucked.
Agreed! No matter if it is full daylight outside or if I am in the cheeriest of moods, watching this always represses my mood into a disturbed, unnerved state of mind (that being a good thing).
@@hunterostroski YES! Finally, more people who appreciate the American version of The Ring. I fully agree with you. I still watch that film to this very day and always in the dark, lol. I will always love the original Japanese versions, but I feel for the time it first came out that the American version did a pretty decent job with the atmosphere, not many jump scares, the acting was good, etc.
I hate it when people try and reduce what a "horror" movie is. For example, Silence of the Lambs is a horror film. It is ALSO a thriller. Just because a movie is a thriller doesn't mean it can't ALSO be a horror movie. You can't pigeonhole the horror genre into something subjective (i.e. how it personally made you feel).
I love Sinister. It's got to be one of the best horror movies of the last 20 years. Too bad the sequel is god-awful though. I recently watched it for the first time, I don't think I've ever laughed out loud, and smacked my forehead so many times during a horror movie.
@@tarlochansingh620 i hate it tbh. Like when you were watching the murder tapes in first one, it felt like you werent supposed to see that but the tapes in second one were just like classic blockbuster murders
The pool scene was actually all practical. There were divers at the bottom of the pool with air tanks for the people pulled in and the mask guy was wearing weighted boots.
Omg can't believe you made nikki watch this 😂 😂 I LOVE horror, and I love this film, but it's definitely a big change from insidious. Much MUCH darker.
This is one of those movies that has always stayed with me even years after watching it. I watch a lot of horror, but you know a horror movie is crafted well when it lingers in your mind. I had to watch when I saw you were reacting to it and I just kept thinking, just wait! It gets worse! So intense!
You guys can dim the lights for your reactions, especially for horror films. I’m a wimp when it comes to horror films and I have turned the lights on or sound off a couple times to escape them. I don’t know how you guys can actually get into a show or movie with that bright light in your faces but it would be especially difficult to be scared of a horror movie in particular, even for me. I bet by far most of your fans would be fine watching these things with you guys with the lights dimmed. 🤙🏻
Since we're on a horror movie roll, here are some recommendations!: - Hereditary. - The Babadook. - US. - Don't Breathe. - Suspiria (The remake is veeeery good) - The VVitch.
They’ve already seen Hereditary and I believe they liked it, but yes The VVitch is a MUST DO. Also I would recommend Midsommar but idk if they’re ready for that yet
I went to the movies to see this when it first came out. I left the theater crying…it scared me so bad because it seemed so real!! I totally feel your pain Nikki!!!
lmaooo it cracked me up seeing Nikki breathe really loud and fast when she got scared. I think I hyperventilated when I first saw this movie too. It's the tapes for sure. They just seem so real, like you're really watching people die on found footage or something.
@@kedricmanson9873 have u even seen the photos of the real event? They are identical to the movie and have u even seen the real interview of the real ppl that lived in the real conjuring house?? I guess not
One of the greatest horror films ever. I loved this movie because it placed you in the situation along with Ethan's character. The moments of discovery were just amazing and you were asking the same questions that the character was asking. Just bypass the Second one though cause it was horrible.
WOW, what a reaction! So fun, thank you guys. Coping mechanisms on display, Steven's riveted unblinking stare, Nikki's trauma-induced Tourette's! Thanks for the psyche sacrifices you make for us : )
i’ll always remember the first time i saw this movie in the theater. i’d gone with my siblings, including my younger brother, who was getting older and had started to put on a real tough guy attitude for a while. but once it got to the lawnmower scene he had my hand in a vice grip because of how terrified he was.
i agree, it is also one of the creepiest movies I have ever seen. The music really makes it, too. I’ve never heard music quite as spooky. Especially the music playing during the car scene. Sometimes, I’ll lay in bed, think about it, and get spooked. The first time I became aware of the film, I was over a friend’s house, she put it on, and I just saw the tree hanging scene, and was like “Um, what the hell is this!?” And asked her if she could immediately turn it off. It seemed like it was a real life recording from something that actually happened, at the time. Then, later I watched the entire thing with my family. I don’t know if, I can, at this point. But, for a long time, I felt like I couldn’t watch it on my own, and avoided it. It just spooked me, so much.
Yeah I love horror films but this one genuinely scared the life out of me, especially when he pops out as the films ending I almost had a heart attack. Two “horror” suggestions of films I recently watched and enjoyed are Ready Or Not & Crawl
The music and sound absolutely make this film. It would be nowhere near as horrific as it is without the music. And I think the lawnmower shot may be the single greatest fear-inducing moment in a film, ever. I've seen this well over a dozen times, and that moment still fucks me up.
I saw this in theaters! The opening scene with the family is so haunting, the disturbing concept creeped me out so bad! I remember going home and looking at my little brother like..... "I'ma keep an eye on you, just in case..." lol
great reaction... in theaters the lawnmower reveal was just as intense and the whole audience screamed just as much... this was a surprising movie at the time, totally creepy, i know if Steven is creeped out it was a good one haha
Well if I ever have a jammed door that I can't get open, I'm going to hire Steven's left shoulder because that thing is battle hardened after this reaction! The scene with the children in the background as Ethan hawke is walking through the house is especially chilling. It was done by combining two shots, his was recorded in normal time and they had the child actors go through the same path but they filled it at twice the speed. When they slowed it down to match the first recording created the almost ghost like and unsettling movements that shown in the scene. Really good movie but I don't think the second one even came close to how well this one did in terms of story and performance. Love your reactions, keep them coming!
YEEEEEESSSSS the "disgusting" feeling is exactly what I love about it!!! There's this horrible dread that sits in the pit of your stomach the whole time because you can see exactly what's going to happen, but you realize there's nothing you can do to stop it. I've never seen another movie that made me feel the same way. Especially the lawnmower video. As soon as you see the lawnmower, you know someone's getting run over by it, and it's just so tense while all you can do is wait for it to happen.
The lawnmower scene is one of the rare, if possibly only, jump scare that scared me so bad I actually flew off my seat and hit the ground. Hitting my head on the seat in front of me, that a guy was sitting in. I actually left with a few bruises after that. The only other one I can think of is ' I saw her face' in the Ring, and the red lamp in INLAND EMPIRE, which made me convulse, but fortunately I was watching that on my couch. so no bruises.
Bless Nikki for sitting through these movies. Completely out of her comfort zone. And still give amazing content. But seriously, does Steven get a dead arm by the end of each reaction?
On the one hand this reaction makes me want to see how Nikki would react to Hereditary, on the other hand if she reacted this way to this one she would DEFINITELY be in a bad place after seeing that one.
a lot of people didn't fully understand Sinister when it came out because the myth/ legend of Bagul that this is based around/ off is not overly well known. Bagul is a Babylonian demon that was worshipped by some as a deity and essentially "ate" children but not in the way we understand as eating...he consumed them into his own world. He lived in a world different from our own and after these children were consumed they became his...well it is hard to describe...it was almost like they were his servants or acolytes. Baghul rarely showed himself in our world and reflected himself through the face of the children...so if he was ever caught on film or camera it would look like the kids killed people. it is children more susceptible that end up being his favourite...hence why the guy's daughter was targeted. I won't lie this film terrified me and the genuine gore behind some of the killing a lot of things seen in the film represent Bagul..for example the Scorpion, like the Scorpio Zodiac, is very symbolic of the life cycle...life, death, rebirth and to kill a symbol of it like the dad did was very dumb...it's an insult. It would be like putting your finger up to God in church. also biggest mistake he made...burning the film. i'm not saying i approve of a writer doing this...but there are many stories in fiction of writers being mocked for unfair reasons; look at Room 1408 which is a Stephen King film, Michael Enslow in that is mocked as a writer in that for debunking ghosts, they say he is a trash writer. But the tragic thing is Michael lost his daughter at the beginning of the story to sickness so he lost his faith on good things or after life...so he never believed in spirits...until he encountered Room 1408...a haunted room at a hotel that forced him to face the truth that ghosts exists...including his daughter. It isn't one of the more ell known Stephen King films but it is a good one.
I saw this movie in theaters with a FULL audience. I was with 2 friends and they left marks on my arms, we were screaming, but once, I screamed "The person who made this is CRAZY!"
I feel like the score isnt really talked about much with horror movies, but sinisters score is so haunting. Like the main score when he's watching the videos, Gives me chills
Best. Sinister. Reaction. Ever! (lofl)... "So, we are giving our kids up for adoption now, right?" LMFAO!! Get down with your bad selves... more plz! 🤗😁😘
I vividly remember this horror movie because this was the first one I’ve ever seen...and I fkd up because this is literally one of the scariest movies out there-
The soundtrack is amazing. It features bands like Aghast, Ulver, Boards of Canada, Accurst and Sunn O))). The soundtrack and Ethan Hawke made me overlook the biggest plot hole in the movie: how couldn't Ethan not have known that all families were killed in other places and the only thing they had in common was that they lived in that house for a while? Is he that bad at doing research? In a scene he was looking at a police report listing one of the family's addresses, a previous and current one. Also, all cases would've been covered by the media. Ethan didn't even need police reports to tell him when and where the families died and that one member was missing and never found. So he was truthful to his wife they didn't move next to (or into) a murder house. But since that house was something all cases had in common of course the media and investigators travelled to that place to investigate the connection and the local population created in time their local legend.
Will never forget the night I saw this in theaters. Still my favorite horror film of all time and in my opinion the scariest film ever and I've seen pretty much ALL the classics. Can't wait to see Black Phone, hoping they can recreate some of the magic of this film.
The night terrors will hopefully go away eventually. I used to sleepwalk in a particular route through the house while crying uncontrollably. My family just had to leave me alone and let me do it until I grew out of it.
when I first watched this film (at night, a big mistake), after that I could not cross the corridor from the room to the bath, I was so scared. I couldn't sleep well for a few weeks after that. this is the only horror movie that has had a really strong impact on me.
I saw this movie in theaters opening night and stupidly saw the midnight showing of it; i didnt sleep for about 2 days after lol awesome reaction. Ive been binging your scary movie reactions lately
this was the first horror movie i ever watched! it gave me nightmares & i stopped watching horror all together for a while! now it’s my favorite genre. but sinister still scares the shit outta me. 🤬
