I suppose in a zombie apocalypse when all the supermarkets have been looted & you came across a box full of Fray Bentos soups, you could use them to throw at the stumbling dead!😂
So happy that someone with integrity does a good honest comparison on all food products as these companies cannot handle criticism from the paying public .. bad products should be called out .. well done you ...
I remember as a kid, Fray Bentos pies were a treat, lush, and chunky. Now they're just gravy with a crust. No doubt the soup is the same standards wise, less of it, cheap ingredients, and a higher price.
Loved them as a kid in the late 60s and early to mid 70s but how the chuff my mam cut it into five always makes me think back to how hard a life we had back then, don't get me wrong she chucked in lots of spuds, peas, beans , carrots and the obligatory six slices of bread and best stork margarine. Oh the good old days.. 👍😂🤣
@@greg5639 Yes I have always been a semi Vegetarian if a thing exists but I always ate a bit of Fray Bentos meat pie or suet pudding? Mainly crust or the suet bit did not know what suet was?
After watching your video reviewing the Fray Bentos chicken soup, I had a feeling the tomato soup would be rank too. Thanks for warning us 😊 You're a star! Take good care Gareth 👍
Well done for being our Guinea pig Gareth… I’ve already thrown out the Fray Bentos chicken version… we seem to be treated as fools by manufacturers who have reduced size and quantities of many many products without improving taste or lowering prices… 👍🏻
Hi Gareth, thank you for taking one for the team! From many videos, we know that you are afraid of nothing, so when you put a bowl to the side during tasting it says more than enough. In the long time you are doing your videos - has any producer or shop ever contacted you with a reply to your comments? As some others have mentioned - you are recovering really well.
When it comes to tasty Soups, it's Mr Sainsbury's for me, every time! A tin of; "Cream of Tomato Soup" at 62 pence per tin! Nice and creamy, and the real taste and colour of Tomatoes straight off the Vine! Mr "Fraying Bentos" needs to stick to his tinned Pies with Pastry tops! Take care all! P.S....Have you noticed that when you finally manage to tear the complete lid off the tin, the remaining contents inside the lid get sprayed all around the kitchen walls and ceiling! it's what 'appens every time! It's Soup Time again! Don't forget to include some Croutons and a slice of Buttered Toast!...😋...😋....!
I don’t like any of the Fray Bentos range, Absolutely disgusting, Would rather eat Own Brand stuff than that 🤮 Great your still uploading, Your a top bloke 👌
When i used to live at home my dad would use Campbell's condensed tomato soup, it was delicious mixed with the pasta, meat and onions. I highly recommend.
Try Fray Bentos corned beef against Aldi products. Fray Bentos leaves a greasy deposit in your mouth. Baxter's of Scotland now own the brand. It is now a very poor quality line, in my opinion.
Does there need to be much chance involved in buying canned soup? It's been around for ages! The supermarkets' own labels can turn out a decent product; so could Fray Bentos if they wanted to.
My niece keeps telling me that homemade tomato soup is the way to go, she says it's easy once you have made it a couple of times, more tasty and cheaper too 😀
Never even knew they made soup. I always buy Aldis own brand tomato soup and have had no complaints whatsoever. Last Fray Bentos item I bought was about 40 years ago when I bought one of their pies in a tin. That soup looked okay but glad you tasted it first.
I've watched only a few of your videos and now I am a new subscriber hooked on them! Your facial expressions are priceless and hilarious. Thank you for your courage and your honesty with every review. Can't wait for the next one. Prayers for you in your newest personal battle.
I am surprised you went back to try another Fray Bentos considering the last disaster ! Good to see you doing what we all love. Keep up the good work in both your journeys !
When I was a young chef, if you were in the proverbial you could boil a tin of tomatoes and whizz it up with veg oil to create an emergency tomato soup and that, my friend, is exactly what you have there.
It is a shame that Fray Bentos quality has hit rock bottom. I am in my 60s and remember them producing decent products. Their corned beef and tinned pies were great, now they are shocking. You have healed up nicely since the fall. Nice to see you back on top form.
Looking god mate, glad to see you back to almost normal😊 Frey Bentos used to be great but now Baxter’s own them it seems to be aimed at the cheaper end of the market and not so good
New subscriber. Love your channel. I realize what you're trying to achieve with stop drinking is a now an hour to hour, not day to day, battle. BRAVO for getting this far in this horrible battle. YOU GOT THIS!
Great to see you back with a smile, you certainly put a smile on my face with the Fray Bentos soups reviews. But isn’t it a shame that an old trusted company like Fray Bentos feel it ok to produce low grad products at higher prices than there competitors They obviously think it’s ok to trade on their once good name. But I think they will soon find out it’s not. So glad to see your so much better.
Omg at this rate your never going to get better and customer services will love you which i hope you contact them as they need feedback to fix this issue. Nice honest taste test and hope the sink does not throw a wobbly .
honestly, i used to love fray bentos, especially the puddings. i bought one a couple of years ago and never again. i dont know whats happened but they aren't the same quality anymore. it looked like dogmeat minus the meat.
Good to see you looking and sounding much better Gareth. Like lots of examples nowadays, Fray Bentos is just a name, they hope people remember it and give it a go, but it bears no resemblance to what once was. The names that used to be great for soups were Crosse and Blackwell, Campbells and Baxters, but unfortunately they are not as abundant as they used to be. Someone has mentioned Heinz tomato soup being the best, but I disagree. They have altered the recipe and there is something in it now that repeats on me for days. I actually prefer the Bramwells cream of tomato from Aldi.
I'll be honest, fray bentos for me is an emergency pie situation 😜 I won't knock them, it's a brand like heinze. "Can't have a pint tonight chaps I've got a Fray Bentos with the Mrs" Is just an old trusted name for dudes with a good tin opener 😂👍❤
Best thing I bought myself was an electric soup maker. I do like a lot of the supermarket own brand soups like Sainsbury’s tomato 🍅 soup. But I do make a lot of my own soup. Bits of veg that need using up and a stock cube in boiling water and some seasoning. 🧂 You’ve got a cheap and nourishing meal. Fray Bentos used to be a good brand. I can’t eat their products anymore because I’m gluten intolerant. Seems I’m not missing out on anything though. 😂 You’re looking well Gareth. 👍🏻 Nice to see.
You should do some videos on improving the best soups, we all know fray bentos are pants, Heinz tomato soup, add a large chunk of butter, a good grind of pepper, a dash of soy sauce and a large spoon of Tommy ketchup, now that is a soup. !!
I’ll tell you a little story - when I was at school we went on a school trip. This was in the days pre air-con on busses. It was a nice day with lots of running around. We took picnics for lunch and a lot of kids had soup. On the way back the bus was boiling and the driver must have had an appointment at the bookies/dogs/dentist because he was driving like a nut case. Through the countryside up and down hills and up and down and …. The first kid was sick which in a hot bus combined with the driving led to 2nd kid being sick and a kind of domino effect. I didn’t have soup but the smell of tomato soup and the sight of it flowing down the aisle that day has meant that 45 years later I still can’t touch tomato soup. Nice try Gaz but not for me….
Good on ya mate, found you via your sobriety video, being in recovery myself, I'm also keto so don't eat most of what you review 😂 but here to tap that like, and comment, to support you 👍
Thanks for enduring that fray bentos oily soup, made especially for the likes of jed clampetts of this world. A trip to M+S is called for when you can to restore faith in quality soups at an affordable price. Hope the jaw feels better.
There seems to be a pattern emerging with Fray Bentos products, in that name is used to peddle sub standard food at high standard prices 😳......good to see you looking better 👍😎
I bought a fray bentos pie steak and kidney.made home made chips and baked beans sat down to enjoy it the second bite was a bone with hair attached vomitted the rest of the day.i just ignore fray bentos at the supermarket
At 89p a can, I'll take your word for it and give it a wide berth! Still... At least they got the colour right. Good to see you're on the mend. More soups pleeze😊
Oh dear- these fray bentos soups are not great I’m not relishing the idea that I bought one two weeks ago ‼️🤔 *Excellent to know, well reviewed 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻* Looking your usual self now - healing outwardly and glad to hear everything is coming along good
I think I mentioned it before when you did a soup comparison - try Asda own Cream of Tomato. Haven't had it in a while and price is up from 68p to 75p now for 400g. I swear it tastes the same (at least as good) as Heinz. 92% tomatoes and it actually does have double cream in it.
It's like Fray Bentos had a guess at what soup should taste like and guessed wrong. Glad you're getting better. I know you're not a dessert lover but while your jaw is still not fully healed how about an ice cream comparison, supermarket own brand v branded. Unless you've done that before of course.
hey man, your looking well on the mend, maybe its the no drinking too! keep well, love the channel mate, your an inspiration to alot of us starting up a wee channel
thinking you should should do 100k special after you recovery hopefully Gaz (not too long) like a proper special vid but have a fantastic day Gaz and keep going Cheers
Hello! B&M opening near us next week.....looking forward to a visit, not been in one before. They have taken over an old Wilko store. Loved Wilko, hope they'll be as good .....😊
hope you are still on the mend thanks for the information on the soup I will give it a go and see how it goes just had sum denture work done I'm very hungry at the moment so if it doesn't taste very good move on to the next can and hopefully i can fill my belly 😀😀❤❤👍👍
Years and years ago my favourite soup was Heinz mushroom soup - chock full of mushrooms. After many years of not eating I took a trip down memory lane and bought a tin of it. Upon opening it - about half dozen mushroom crumbs. The taste was disgusting. Took the tin out the bin and read the ingredients - palm oil and glucose syrup.
Oh dear! Not doing well good old Fray Bentos are they? Soon as you took a sip I could tell it was a no no 🙈🙈🙈 Thanks for sharing. Saves people buying and wasting money 😊
LLLLOL, Yes! IF the chicken soup had chicken in it, it WOULD BE fowl since chicken is a fowl. Sorry the tomato wasn’t any better. Thanks for the laugh 🤩 from Wittmann, Arizona 🇺🇸
First that was some great Stirring well impressed 👍 I love tomato soup Only buy Aldi’s now so bloody good thanks for that review and saved me money to 👍
Have you tried the Yorkshire Provider chicken and vegetable soup? I think you can buy it in most shops, we really like it, wholesome and hearty, I don't think you would be disappointed with it.
The Fray Bentos brand was bough a few years ago by Baxtors and they now make the pies etc. Baxtors are a famouse Scottish company in Fochabers Moray just a few miles from where I live that make soup, jam and pickeled beetroot. Thats probably why they have ventured into making soup now for Fray Bentos. All their soup to me has a flavour I think it's the stock they use and I think they also make soup for Aldi as that flovour I get from baxtors soup is in Aldis as well. Their soup isn't all that bad. So I wonder why this soup isn't good. And the reason why your sink liked it is that there is something in tomatoes that makes it very good good for cleaning stanless steel.
