I had the thought to use a magnet before I saw this. The magnet on my tape measure gave me some encouragement. I got a 65 pound pull magnet and it took a few tries but it worked. You might need to turn the magnet or shimmy a bit back and forth to break the seal instead of just attaching and pulling straight up. The gunk on the underside made quite a strong seal but the magnet and I won in the end. I still need to do some plumbing work on the underside of the sink to get the stopper to catch again, but that is a project for another day
I pushed the drain by accident and my dad was gonna come home soon, so I was rushing. I cried, then thought of something. I searched it up, found this yt short and once I did it. I was like r u kidding me. 😐😐
Since everything is made so cheap now and that stopper is made out of plastic, you could have a magnet the size of whatever you want it's not going to help you. Use your smallest flat head screwdriver and put a little piece of tape on the flat blade so it won't scratch and you should be able to pry that out.
Also here to say this worked for me. My magnet was not strong enough so I had to use both sides to repel each other. Sounds crazy but it got settled in front of my own eyes like ✨ MAGIC ✨
Thanks for this and the comments here. I tried the magnets in my apt, but they were either too small and didnt work with sink curve. Couldnt pick it up. Didnt have suction cups😔 But i tried making a little tape ring Put it on the top, pulled by the ring and got it out For me the ball thing u said, wasnt rottted, i just put the drain in too early b4 i put rest of sink back 2gether. Thank u 4 this video tip Wasnt quite what i was able to do, but u dis set up space for me to find something that worked 4 me❤😅😊
Normally this happens because the rod that holds the pop up rusts out. If you go under the sink you should see some kind of rod sticking out close to the bottom of the sink.
You can also use some strong tape (masking tape for example). Cut enough length that you have tape either side to pull with. Stick it to the top of the stopper, pull up and out.
