When J. Paul Getty opened his Museum of Antiquities in Malibu, Ca. in the seventies admission was no charge, BUT you had to mail in for tickets. That kept the feeling of being in a true Roman Villa and you could enjoy each room. He didn't want it to be an LA Museum day care centre for children dropped off, or crowds of people thinking they were at Disneyland. What would work at this site is if tours could be conducted by people versed in the cymablism, history, and nuances of the site. The place is incredible, though it DOES have that "Disneyland" feel to it!!!

I had a recurring dream for years where I entered a random stairwell that went down into insanity. The hallways were like that of an underground psyche ward, with mad scientist, military, and government personnel types moving between the rooms which had double sided glass showing the experiments and "patients" from the hallways. There were heinous monstrosities, human torture/sacrifice, freakshows, demons etc... As I worked my way farther down into the installation, I started to realize that I was being chased by someone or something. I kept taking any door that was open, which all contained stairways reaching downwards. I eventually made it to a deep endless pit with rough cut stairs leading down, which looked just like this. The deeper I got, the older and more decrepit the stone and stairs. Eventually I ended up at least a mile under the surface, frantically scrambling down the Neverending stairwell into the depths of the darkest dungeon yiu could imagine. I would eventually come across a doorway out to the ground level, where a gorgeous mountaintop, peaceful meadow, envigorating waterfall, relaxing beach, or enchanting forest scene sprawled all around me. I returned to the recurring dreamscape for years before finally deciding to translate the dream on my own. I have never had it since, but wow this gives me the creeps at how close the feel is to that dream. I realized that I was running from myself, or my shadow self, to be specific. The dream was about depression, self sabatouge, and the potential depths of madness. Always at the bottom, was a light shining through a doorway leading me back up to peace and serenity. That light was Mother Nature and her healing power. I haven't thought of that dream for years. Thanks for reading.

Here is a little story concerning a few secret inhabitants of Regaleira. I'm Portuguese and went there, with a group of friends, long before the tourist boom. It's a very interesting place and I had an odd experience in the caves, on a particularly dark segment of the path, before reaching the exit lake. I distinctly felt something grazing my head. Not a static thing like a spider's web -- no vestiges of anything along those lines anyway, when I directed my torch in that direction -- but something that had actually been flying in the dark. I happen to have a skeptic turn of mind and was not particularly affected. I thought at first of some leaf or something like that, although there was hardly any air draft in there, so, when we got out and stopped for a snack at the small cafeteria, we talked about my odd sensation and we were duly informed that a couple of bats had at the time taken residence in those welcoming caves. I was greatly amused by the fact that I had in all likelihood met one of them, probably seeking to evade our irruption into their domain. I shudder to think of what ever has become of the little fellows by now...

Damn my dyslexia. I read that as Sinatra’s Mysterious ‘Inverted’ Tower. I was very curious as to what Ol’ Blue Eyes had been up to down there...

The captions are entirely too fast. Pause/unpause is not a good option.

I KNOW! they shouldn’t overlay annoying and repetitive music into it, either they SHOULD turn down the volume of the original language ..to just barely perceptible - and then narrate the captioned words i stop watching videos when the producers make this horrible mistake i’m just on the autistic spectrum and this sort of thing drives me crazy !

The perks of being a local is that you get to visit this place when it is completely empty and void of annoying tourists
