William H. Macy was a supporting performance in Fargo. A great performance but not a leading one.

I disagree. Macy is a leading role. I would argue that his character Jerry is more important or just as important as Frances McDoemand’s Marge. We meet Jerry and learn about his life, his hair brained plan, and his plight before we even meet Marge. We don’t meet Marge until the 30-minute mark. The kidnapping has already taken place by the time we meet her. Macy is the lead in Fargo. His nomination as Best Supporting Actor is a fraud. To me, it seems sometimes that the supporting acting categories are simply there as layovers for actors they couldn’t find room for in the lead categories.

@@Jamal3.87 He has more screen time than McDormand, I think the producers pushed him for Supporting because Cruise and Rush were too strong. And I don't know if Macy cared one way or the other.
