When Siskel's talking to Tommy Lee Jones about dialogue changes: "The script says, 'those original homicide casebooks on Roberts. On their way?' You said, 'Got the casebooks on Roberts?' Nine, uh, five words instead of four." Sometimes, Gene had a lot of trouble using his words.

Red Corner Is a classic , It's my favorite Richard Gere movie along with "No Mercy" and this Is Bai Ling's best movie imo.

You liking it doesn't make it a classic, and nobody else thinks it is. It's dreary, wildly illogical, and the only good thing about it is Bai Ling.

Sorry, but I'd have to say Primal Fear would be Gere's best. He's so good as Martin Vail that it actually makes me sad he never played that role a second time. I've never seen Red Corner, but I'd like to. I've always been fascinated by China (all of Asia, really).

Red Corner was a lame movie i didn't like Richard Gere's performance. Switchback wasn't that bad of a film, it's got some nice moments but i got bored at times so i gave both films thumbs 👎

The arrogance of these two is astonishing. I happened upon Red Corner this morning on television and decided to watch it. It was a one and done for me but it held my interest. But to make their points, these two exaggerate and omit. Ebert states that after escaping to the U.S.A. Embassy after an assassination attempt, Gere's character goes back to the courtroom without any punishment or charges for escaping. He conveniently left out Gere being stripped naked and forced into a small solitary-like cell. It's always a good thing to remember you're listening to the personal opinion of someone who gets paid to give his opinion of movies. Those who take their words as gospel will miss a terrific performance by Bai Ling as Richard Gere's state-appointed lawyer. You may not enjoy the movie but just with every movie ever reviewed, if the subject sounds interesting to you, give it a shot.

Good luck trying to do a film like that today. Hollywood cares more about China's box office take these days than any other market.

It may not be perfectly accurate (though it's not false), and it has plenty of Hollywood artistic license, but it's the closest you're ever going to get from any film for the foreseeable future
