I blame the pushers and creators of reality tv, degrading rap music and social media for encouraging and reaffirming ratchet behavior. When the rap game gave us Sexy Red I knew what the deal was. When respectable examples of black women were more prevalent in media it provided examples that black women could aspire to and discouraged the self degradation that is now being glorified. Which is why me and my husband do not allow our children to consume unfortunately popular media or music. So far our efforts are working. They all dress modestly and handle themselves with class in public as well at home
