I know right? I love when they do" hail holy queen" an she has her own little solo (because she herself sounds like an angel) sister mary Roberts was everyone's favorite I think?
I know, that line always cracks me up and I think how cute, her mother says that about her. Wish my mom said that about me, but, I've always walked to the beat of a different drum.
She’s great as mary Sanderson in hocus-pocus there’s two witches among these nuns…. LOL The Reverend mother( Harry Potter) and Kathy najAmy (. Hocus-pocus)
“You don’t think I see. You think I took vows yesterday.” 🤣 I adore the Sister Act movies! Have since I was 8 years old. These are such timeless and brilliant films.
I only like the first one. I saw the second one, and since I don't like that type of music, was kind of a let down for me. The first Sister Act is the gold bar standard.
What she just said at the end of this scene is sooo true. In order to harmonize, you need to listen to each other. Otherwise, you can't work together to make the music work.
@Dan Wruck Same on everything in life...when you work as a team, you LISTEN! Works in Army Special Forces, your kitchen when making dinner with your other half, soccer with your kids, catch with your dog... I could go forever, but you get the point...
I took music in junior high, and I loved my first music teacher that was there for two years. She was funny, she made us ennunciate, she was great. I want to say she was almost like Whoopi Goldberg in this movie, but, she was pretty close. The music teacher that took over for her, was okay, she was good, but not as good as the original music teacher.
@@missweatherorweathernot7870 Well then you were lucky. Most of the time music teachers I met were really good in terms of professionalism but their personality sometimes would become too demanding. In any case I am glad your teacher was like this one. On the other hand it was a high school lesson and not a 100 percent music lesson (I mean in order to get a diploma in music) so I see why she was more relaxed with her students.
I love Whoopi's performance here. At first she's incredibly reticent and fearful of taking the responsibility, but as the scene progresses she becomes more and more excited to pass on what she knows.
3:09 "Just Alma, could you give me an "A", please?" **sees Alma asleep at the piano** "Alma! **stomp** **stomp** check your battery!" Always makes me laugh hahahahahaha
I Love Sister Act. Seen it so many times yet I'm never tired of it. Nowadays you don't want to watch a movie again, but those classics from 80's and 90's I could be watching forever
Dividing the different voice tones in separate yet close groups, listening to the others when they sing, being balanced, having confidence, daily hard work and efforts - she's giving a great practical lesson of music in here ! These are the basis that ANY performer should keep in mind and practice.
Probably because Alma turns off her hearing aid whenever she wants to ignore the mess that is that choir. Her innocent smile is to try to fool people that she's a sweet 'lil old lady but she probably despises her convent lol.
she literally gave a light to the boring choir, i wanted a coach like her. will motivate you to show your talent in a cheerful way, she totally helped everyone's asses to show their skills. i love her!
@@haleyl.248 Nuns are religious by the way. That's the trouble. Religion teaches you how to get yourself to Heaven. This is IMPOSSIBLE. Christianity teaches that Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. This is why Jesus condemned religious people.
2:44 kills me every time! Whoopie jumping and scaring sister Mary Lazarus hahaha. Kathy Najini should be an opera singer ;) ! Love this movie! It's got a meaning that movies these days lack
Now i've noticed: 1- She's given the baton, but she never uses it. She has the authority, but she prefers to speak, making them understand, not obey 2- She applies her own advice: she listens to them. To ALL of them. She heard the one who wasn't singing only after one second of horrible singing. She may be a sub par nun, but she's a good singer ^_^
When Sister Clarence took over: The magic happened and that was the best; especially after everything was smoothed out. Lol. Great movie. The second movie was a great follow-up!
I would say that no one with the money wants to risk it with something like this. A fart is a shallow but assured laugh, in here, like "Mary Clarence" says, we need to listen. And we know that those with the money go for the easiest humor nowadays. I assure you, there's a lot of intelligent writers out there. They are just kept down...
@@danielbarker6039 "Do you mind...I'D LIKE TO HAVE A MOMENT WITH THE BOY IF IT'S ALRIGHT WITH YOU". She was also one of the pick-a-little ladies in Music Man ;) Mary Wickes was an under appreciated gem
Alma (stomp stomp), check your battery! Haha so funny. I love Wendy Makkena even though she's not the one who actually sings. Until I found out, I never would have known. She made it look so believable lol
I love the fact that Wendy Makkena and Kathy Najimy auditioned for this movie with the same song...the ladies invited to audition were asked to prepare something to assess their singing voices, their choice.
I like that she lets them get excited about their mini-victory -- singing a chord for 2 seconds -- doesn't tell not to be happy, but cautions them that the real work is just beginning. She doesn't let them rest on their laurels or get big heads about the small triumph. And so it doesn't feel trite or pandering, because it has that dose of reality, there.
I had no idea Kathy Najimy was in this film, too, the voice of Peggy Hill. 😮 She's Sister Mary Patrick. This film has such an amazing cast. Thanks for the upload!
My favorite part of hail holy queen is when the sister blurted out HAIL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂that there tickled me so bad as a kid and as a adult too these 2 movies are hilariously funny 😂😂😂😂😂
2:25 man I piss myself laughing every time I watch this part 😂😂😂 Whoopi getting a fright, the nun in front of her getting a fright, the sister with that crazy loud voice, how flat they are 😂😂 funniest movie
Love Sister Mary Lazarus. She is that grumpy grandma in every house who obviously loves every thing she complains about, but is too proud to admit it. The fact that she becomes one of Dolores's closest friends later on is wholesome in its own unique way.
As a voice teacher, I reference this clip a lot in my lessons with my students. It’s such a great scene and such a great movie. The change in Sister Mary Robert’s posture and form is the example I use for relaxation and engaging those core muscles simultaneously.
Sister Mary Robert reminds me of me in some ways I was shy ..more so when I was younger but I wanted to talk..only with some but I had a lot to say over time I got better..
Love this show is beautiful films thank you for sharing your beautiful video love your video thank you for sharing Bless you all have a good day thank you
I think every aspiring girl/boy singing group/band should watch this great movie and learn from the words of Sister Mary Clarence..”You must LISTEN to each other if you’re going to be a group.” To avoid getting disbanded because of egos and differences.
