Peabo's greatest songs go way back before today's generation who only know him through his commercial fame. Forget these shallow contemporary commercial hits which appeal to the wider popular audiences, give me the early Peabo when he did "Just Another Day" when you could actually feel the music coming from a truly deep reflective place. This brother really brung it in that song. It takes you back to a simpler time and place when love was so pure and heartfelt. His later commercial successes (which don't draw you deep into the soul) are more tailored for their mass audience appeal, therefore they can't light a match up against his earlier songs from the mid 70's and early 80's.

Oh, I just love Mr. Bryson. See, I knew I wasn't crazy. You basically said everything that I've been saying about music. You described his voice to the T, Syleena. He definitely has some range on him. A strong and sincere voice. The sincerity in his voice drew me in when I was little. Now, I _cain't_ sit here and front like I know all of his albums, but I am definitely aware. I became a fan when he did _Can You Stop the Rain?_ He was sangin' that song like it was his last day on Earth. Now, I know a lil' somethin' about music, however I don't know every single technical term that would allow me to articulate myself so Imma do my best and just wing it... Sometimes he does this thing w/ his voice and it just fascinates me. Sometimes he'll land on a note and he'll do this thing to where he flips the note. I don't know what that's called, technically, but it's his signature. Anyway, he's right, there's no more individuality. Almost everything sounds the same nowadays. Now, there's only so much that you can do in r&b, but one thing's for sure, nobody really sounded the same in my generation. Eric Benét didn't sound or sing like Aaron Hall. K-Ci Hailey didn't sound or sing like Brian McKnight. Early on, everybody had they own unique tone and technique. From the 90's, the only brothas who were kinda interchangeable are Donell Jones and Case. They're pretty much the same person, in retrospect. That means they had a few hits, stock and mediocre lil' r&b voices, iffy live performances, etcetera. I noticed that individuals started sounding and often times *looking* the same around 2002. You had the older brothas - Tank/Avant/Dwele/Raheem DeVaughn who were all the same person. And then, you had the younger brothas - Omarion/Sammie/Jeremih/Displeasure P, etcetera. Come on, Mr. Bryson. You know John Legend and Ariana Grande are run-of-the-mill and boring. John Legend's voice and overall music is a definite snooze-fest. I only like a handful of his songs. And Ariana...well... I don't like her at all. She _cain't_ sing and she get on my nerves. She be singin' through her nose and her enunciation is choppy. She drags her words. That "rendition" they did was awful. No soul, flavor or passion. John Legend knew better than that. Anyway, I also agree that a lot of the content is boring and dry. I always say _dang, what is you singin' about?_ But hey, if the voice is mediocre then I _cain't_ really expect the song to be about somethin'. That's why everybody's runnin' around crazier than muthafucka because there are no positive messages out there. If music's supposed to be the soundtrack of our lives then chile... We're in for it! Black folks done lost they soul, flavor, passion, etcetera. I'm speaking, overall. This is an excellent interview.
