This episode is one of my favorites for sure, as a little thematic detail if you pay enough attention you can notice that there is literally 0 background music until the end when vax finds vex.

Go into a DEATH temple, of the god of DEATH, looking for the DEATH armor, worn by the champion of DEATH, and get hit by a circle of DEATH trap and you roll a 1 to try and survive. Dead before she hit the ground. During the live show the look on Matt's face when she rolled that 1 on the dice was heartbreaking.

love the little "in denial" flag. Osysa did say that Vax was dependent entirely on his sister, while Vex was hopeless trying to get their father's approval. The dragon killed their mom and much of the village while they were in Syngorn with their father. In season 1, there was no question that the twins would be together, but if you look at Vex's comments about Keyleth in view of knowing how dependent Vax is on her, you can see his responses ("Nothing will ever come between us, stubby") and how she is just looking out for him.

Fun fact! Grog's beard was a particularly big deal on the stream because goliaths can't grow hair. It took a few episodes for it to grow in and everyone was really curious whether it would work - there was even a bit where Vax pulled a kind of mean prank and shaved half of it off in the middle of the night. (And for further context, it was a belt of dwarvenkind, which had a bunch of other benefits and not just the beard. But for the cartoon I find the implication that all it does is give Grog a beard hilariously fitting.)

Vax didn't say he didn't need Vex. He was saying she needed him, and she was saying she didn't.

Ah good, time for season 2 - episode open weeping.

Marisha had a celebrity crush on Will Friedle when he was a kid actor on TV, which is why Keyleth and Kashaw are flirting in this episode. Vex' arrows are in the quiver on her back. The belt is a Belt of the Dwarvenkind; it bumps up Grog's overall constitution, gives him resistance to poison, and would allow him to read and write the Dwarvish language...if he could read and write.

For explanation, twins mother was a human peasant that their father had a one night stand with, their father took them away from her, although he disliked them because they are not full blood elves. After they run away from their father, they tried to ho back to their mother, but when their arrived, their mom was dead and all village was destroyed by red dragon
