Sister of the Thorn - Very Powerful VENOM Build - Vermintide 2

DIFFICULTY: Cataclysm + Deed (Vanguard+horde)
Use Venom combined with her Deepwood Staff to poisen entire hordes of enemies in seconds, dishing out very high damage!
Use her wall tacticly to not blockade but to Funnel hordes trough small areas to destroy them with your staff in only 2 or 3 shots.
A big component of this build is the Deepwood staff trait "heat sink" (critical hits refund overcharge).
Use this combined with the talent "Lingerin Blackvenom" (critical strikes apply blackvenom near the target) and "Briars Malice" (Ulting gives 2 crits) to instantly poisen & kill large groups of enemies for no charge cost.

Protip; drop Heatsink for Hunter; each thorn from her deepwood staff can proc Hunter on different targets, and you'll almost always have guaranteed Hunter procs when in need; also increases the poison damage a little which is nice.

Thats true but thats less usefull for this venom build because this build relies on shooting the horde fast with a crit & apply venom once they are all bunched up after your wall funneled them together. Hunter can be used very well on a sister melee build to increase her melee potential. 2 crits so 1 to proc hunter and then 1 to proc swift slaying indeed. Thanks! :)

@@chickenhunt5163hunters description says that is 25% increase, but in reality it is only 20%. Bug or not i dont know

This is really impressive and a lot of fun both to watch and to play as. And I really like that it utilizes the staff. I'm tired of the lance or a bow in the other videos. Kinda ruins the whole "I'm a druid mage" thing of this class which I always wanted to go for. But this... this does it justice! P. S. I think that trinket (or charm) with a trait that turns healing into temporary health but heals you passively might be a good choice on her, especially for this build.

Thanks ^^. Yes passive healing (natural bond) would also be really good because she boosts that as well with her healing buff passive.

@@chickenhunt5163 I rediscovered Vermintide 2 only recently. Played it on release and dropped after completing all story missions with my friend on Veteran. But just a few days ago I noticed the news about Necromancer class, checked and saw that it was actually Vermintide 2. After digging some more I was amazed how much content the game got since release. Now I'm grinding :3

I played a few games with this but on legend and ended up switching power for smiter and spear instead of sword and dagger. And honestly the dmg didnt feel different. time to kill on staff was about the same. idk if the extra 7% helps breakpoints on cata, but being able to stagger in melee was really helpful imo. still a great build, power is probably better i just need stagger to not die LOL

Thanks for trying it out. And yes its for better power for the staff specifically but in your case if that extra stagger bonus helps you a lot in your gameplay thats great! :)

I'd never thought to use sister of the thorn as a damage dealer using primarily staff. When I'd played her I did what you lot called the "lift elf" build, focusing on lifting elites and specials and then using melee. Looks pretty solid though. I feel like to use it well you need to play with people you can trust to get your back though, at least in legend and above where you can get 1shot. There were a lot of times in this video where you sorta confidently ignored enemies around you to keep putting out damage with the staff where I would've melee'd for protection due to not trusting my teammates to protect me.

Thats what I try to do with my vidoes, show wacky builds. In this build using the staff as your main damage dealer. Randoms on cataclysm are generally very good so I trust them and also my own ability to dodge and avoid if needed. Altough that doesnt always 100% work ofcourse xD

Yeah, I was surprised how much you weren't getting hit without blocking when somewhat surrounded by Skaven slaves just by dodging, really solid movement. This of course works until it doesn't and a Stormvermin caves your skull in.@@chickenhunt5163

literally gonna try this right now, good stuff! though im not sure about tanglegrasp over blackvenom thicket. also i kinda like having radiance stack twice. since i dont think the normal ult counts towards your radiance cooldown (??) still great stuff, never considered using the staff as a main weapon

I am happy you like it. Tanglegrasp is essential to this build an playstile. Use it to push a horde away and bunch them in a tight formation. Try to leave a small gap so they all funnel trough that, then hit em with your 2 ranged crits, killing a lot on those shots and poisening all the rest.

Radience has its own cooldown you are right but if you use 10% cooldown reduction+talent then its only 36 seconds on your normal ult. To note is that on this difficulty you use ults all the time because of so much enemies so if you play legend or champion its good thing to consider 2 stacks or not

Doesn't this build rely a lot on your team? I'm just thinking it'll be hard to maintain HP when you 'reload' your staff often while not using melee weapons, meaning you rely on your team to give you tHP?

It depends. If you only have one person who gains some temp hp its more then enough to sustain your temp hp. Using boon of shallya helps with this and also helps your own ability to gain temp hp faster and keep that staff shooting+reload going.

Is there a specific reason why you have chosen the sword and dagger besides maybe their base crit chance stats? Also, interesting build, looks very fun

You did an amazing job, really... I'm pretty bad at this game, but I'm ineluctably attracted to it: could you tell me which in your opinion could be the most logical build with Shade and javelin (or without javelin if it really isn't her thing)? I can never make up my mind with the skill tree...

Hey thanks :) I dont play much with javelin but I think inspirational shot trait is meta. On shade I use a build with her repeater crossbow with Hunter trait to get that extra damage boost before using her ultimate. You could also join our discord where you can ask me and other players about fun and good builds for any class + you could find new people to play verm with

Not sure if it works with the enemy pushing ult but on the "normal" kind you can press mouse1 while holding ult key to flip the orientation of the bush by 90 degrees to better block of paths without having to move yourself.

You can hold R to manually vent excess overheat from the staff, wich costs you some hp It works the same way as fire wizard Sienna with her spells.

i hope you know that poison doesnt deal any damage, its just a debuff that enemies take 12% more damage if you stack it with recursive toxin it is 24%, but it isnt a dot. The dot is the bleed of the talent Athari`s Delight. So somehow your build seems a bit off.

Its a dot and a debuff you can add bleed on top with a talent but thats for a melee build as you need to melee for bleed proc.

from my testing- quite unreliable, since you cant thin the horde enough as you would with a flamethrower, for example. still it does provide a unique gameplay
