Because the comments are getting *slightly* out of hand, I just feel the need to clarify that the term "Non/Disney" is a generic term used by the fandom of animated-Disney-like movies. It means "Non-Disney" films (animated movies not in the Disney canon) AND also Disney films. The slash is not an exclusion of Disney but rather a combination of Disney and others. All of the films used in this video were distributed by Disney, but Strange Magic and Brave had different production companies. Thanks. I'm also sorry if your faves are not here - this was never meant to be a comprehensive compilation of every animated heroine, just a sampling of a few we felt fit the lyrics best.
It wouldn’t fit the message! His is all about independent, strong Disney woman who ‘didn’t need a man’. And Anna ran into Hans Arms the minute they met.
cynthia ig i realize what she did but the point is she still ran to him in the first place. She’s desperate for love (not saying it’s bad) and she keeps going after men, even if she realized Hans wasn’t ‘the one’ lol.
Mulan - *"I don't need a man, I am the man"* Megara - *"I don't need a man, I want one"* Merida - *"Man **_who?"_* Tiana - *"He understood that I wanted to earn what I get and **_helped me,_** didn't do all on his own or argue, why wouldn't I like him?"* Elsa - *"Why would I need a man, when I am a queen?"* Jasmine - *"I didn't fall for him because I was a damsel in distress, I fell for him because he deserved it"* Anna - *"I understood that I made a mistake by choosing with my heart over my head at first, but I don't want to let my heart go to waste - so I'll use both for my next decision"* Belle - *"He brought out the best in me, I brought out the best in him, he understood that I was powerful and respected me for it - **_that's_** what a real man is"*
this"QUEEN" ain't don't need a king...*Elsa comes out* me: This part suits her Edit: Homahgash! I come back to this comment 2 years later and it's on 13k!!! I am shookt... O_O
@@zecaerumononic8288 I'm sorry, I am salty? I am sorry to disturd your perfect princess world while I had a best friend for over my middle school time who just dropped me and made a video about him just abusing a toy and say it's me. I'm sorry that nobody likes me and I turned into someone closed up from everyone because that isn't the only scenario I've had with "friends". I'm sorry all my "friends" have just dropped me for the simple reason they believed a lieer who said I've gone with everyone to bed and make out when I was 12 just because I didn't wanna do anything sexual with a 15 yo when I was 12. but no, it's my fault that I'm salty, I'm very sorry to disturb the princess world of you
@@amaris8668 bro I don't even have parents. I was abused all my life by people who weren't even my real family. Lol what princess world are you talking about? Nobody asked for your life story and it's nobody here's fault that happened to you.
"You can't marry a man you just met" And that is why Elsa is a queen and everyone else are princesses I just cased a whole war in this comment l m f a o
I'm waiting for a Disney movie with a male lead who is a pacifist and is imperfect Gets saved by a girl And is kinda moody also a prince Oh wait that's the book cruel prince
@@njinlover no thanks ! Except the fantastic "the owl's house" gay representation of Disney are REALLY bad 😣 i wished they really care about writing a character and not just "wE mAKeD GaY ChARaCtERs, LOoK hOw We ARe SuCH NiCE AlLIeS UwU"
If you've watched the movie, im pretty sure she teaches the dwarves to clean up after themselves. I think she even scolded them when they were expecting HER to do the work.
You know women can be strong and independent and have a love interest. Eg. Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Belle, etc I'm not trying to be mean just trying to say there are women who can do both.
I see a ton of men say "Merida should've just listened to her mom and got married and none of that bad stuff would have happened." Ariel did almost the exact same thing. She ran off and made an ill advised and hasty deal with a sketchy witch out of mostly anger which put her family and kingdom in danger, except more stereotypically pretty and men don't give her crap. Also, Merida struggled for her freedom. Ariel struggled for a sexy guy she had never had even 1 conversation with. Yes I know she already liked humans, but I still think Eric was a large influence on that decision to finally leave the ocean. Also I do love Ariel and the little mermaid, I just get annoyed seeing Ariel praised and Merida getting hate for doing similar things.
What I don't like about songs like this one is that they are supposed to be about female empowerment yet still feel the need to shit on other women. These songs where the empowering thing is that the singer is not "like other girls" and in that way devaluates other women and everything associated with femininity. Of course, a woman is not just there to sit still and look pretty, don't get me wrong I like and agree with this sentiment, but if you "want a diamond ring" aka if you want to get married that's great as well. Breaking down outdated gender roles is fantastic, but it's about recognizing that not all women are the same. It's not that no women should like jewellery or clothes or make up, it's about saying you don't have to like these things, not all women like these things and it's okay and great if you're not like that, but that also means that it's absolutely okay if you do like traditonally feminine things. Sorry, long comment, and this is in no way a critique on the video, it's just about the song.
KawaiiAnimeSisters I know right! I can still be feminine and like feminine things, yet be a strong independent woman. There’s nothing wrong about liking pretty dresses or wanting a husband. You can still be strong and independent, having whatever job you want, etc.
Elsa: you CANT marry a man you just met Jasmine: too bad im marrying a badass thief Rapunzel: same here. Snow white: I just woke up with the man of my dreams. Mulan: I AM the man.
Girls you are so much more than just a pretty girl you don’t need a boy to make you happy you are not a prize to be won this girl right here who is reading this is going to rule the world.
Pastapins I would say that differently, but basically, women stereotype is to have kids and clean, cook, and stay at home. And the singer is saying that that’s not only what women do
ye but im pretty sure she started doing the chores and then when the dwarves came home she told THEM to do the chores. i think she even scolded them when they expected her to do the work.
The movie Snow White was made pretty early so uh, I guess that’s where the “chore” thing came from? Also, in the song Daya is saying that ladies shouldn’t be stereotyped to do chores, clean, have kids, etc. So yee
So basically I imagined myself singing this song at a talent show or something and in the beginning walk in with a hoodie and jeans and make everyone think I'm a guy and then during the chorus I'll rip off the hood and under neath will be the beautiful girl that is me. What do you guys think?
aa Aa for me she is just rude look up reviews of the movie at the end she didn’t learn nothing and she made awfull choices.... like she was really immature for her age
*Disney Princesses* : Sit Still, Look Pretty *Non Disney Princess* Meg: Hold my Shoe. Marianne: Hold my sword Judy: Hold my Pen Eilonwy: Hold my drink *Other Non Disney Heroines that weren't in the video* Anastasia: Hold my dog Anastasia (Cinderella's sister): Hold my shell Vanellope: where's my car?! (Gnomeo and Juliet) Juliet: hold my rose (Miraculous Ladybug) Ladybug: Where's my YoYo?!
I applaud you for including Eilonwy from the Black Cauldron because she is hardly ever used in AMV collaboration. I love that movie very much and wish it got the recognition it deserves. I also liked the song, first time I've heard it.
i agree 100%, The Black Cauldron was one of my favourite movies growing up. And Eilonwy saved Taran n an 1985 movie, which is very progressive! But she is mostly disregarded by Disney due to the darker themes of her movie.
Thank you so much for putting Marianne in this Strange Magic is extremely underrated. You deserve millions of followers just for this video keep doing what your doing.
I’m so happy that “Strange Magic” was included in this. That movie is soooo underrated ;-; I loved the characters and their different approaches to love
Thank you so much, I just looked through the comments searching for the name of the movie/show cause it seemed interesting! 🥰🙏🏻 Sadly it only seems to be available on Disney+
This rlly fits for merida (brave) since she dosent really want to just sit there and be a queen do orders and stuff She wanted adventures and do her own thing And she didnt even want to have a prince to be there with her
I keep coming back to watch this for the Elsa moment. That was perfection. Also thank you for including Strange Magic. That movie is highly underrated.
Bell liked books because she sees more within the eye and shows to not judge a book by its cover that’s why she feel in love with the “beast” not because of the cover but because of him.
I like this vid soooooooooo much! Its just that it shows you that no matter how a girl or a person looks rich, pretty, or have a perfect life it doesnt mean they DO have a perfect life.. And it reminds us that just because someone looks pretty that doesnt mean they're a spoiled brat or a bully..Thats why they always say 'dont judge a book by its cover'! And tysm for making this vid and for inspiring people!😁 Oh and its perfect for the disney princess because they look like they have a perfect life but they actually go through so much in life but it also tells you thatno matter how hard or tough your life is right now, you will always have your own happy ending!😁
I've told my boyfriend that I ain't going to be a stay at home mom, not after I grew up in a home where the women rules the house and brings in the income. Good thing he's respecting that
I don’t know how many times I’ve replayed this, I love *everything* in this. The transitions, the edits, the teamwork, the characters, the song, everything!❤️ This deserves much more attention and likes. Dare to be yourself :)
Elsa is literally the definition of not sitting still and looking pretty she made a palace from her wild and untamed magic with her being a powerful warrior/ruler
