This is a semi-documentary, and a musical comparison of Sitar, Surbahar and Chandraveena. Each section has a short demo on each of the instruments, followed by a commentary on the instrument, and a comparative study. This video is divided into Chapters. Do take your time to go thru the whole video. Hope you all enjoy it.

An excellent lecture and demonstration of the sitar, surbahar and Chandraveena with the similarities and differences clearly pointed out and explained in a simple way that can be easily understood. I enjoy all three instruments and have increased my knowledge about them with your teachings on them. I am not a musician but I love music from all over the world. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and understanding with us! 🙏 🙏 🙏

As a first note, it was informative and I recall my first class. Thank you for explaining this detail about the instruments as it elevated thoughts of children from neighborhood along with family.

Yes, absolutely. That's been on my mind too, and it's in the pipeline. Another in the list is Sarod and Sursringar! Watch the space. Thanks for writing in.

I've watched almost all of your video gurudev and learned a lot since I've subscribed! I'm drawn to the sound of every veena I've heard in my life. I want to be a musician and I want to learn to play it veena. I've a background of just playing guitar and in making electronic music. do you teach veena by any chance? Thank you🙏

I am a 32 year Man, with zero experience or knowledge in any form of music. However i have recently aquired a taste for indian classical music and i now have a strong desire to learn the Veena and Sitar. Should I pursue this, if yes were ,how and with which of 2 instrument should i start with. Please suggest 🙏
@Chandraveena
@Chandraveena Месяц назад
Thank you for reaching out. Sitar may be an easier instrument to start with, its less demanding on the fingers and body than a Veena. Having said that, there are different difficulty levels at which sitar can be learnt and played. Also, since Indian classical music is heavily based on vocalisation, it may help to learn a little bit of vocal along with sitar. It all depends on how much time you can devote to learning and practicing. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Is it possible to tune a surbahar to C?
@Chandraveena
@Chandraveena 2 года назад
Structurally, Surbahar is a bass instrument. So, it's generally tuned at G#/A below C. You could tune it to C with very thin strings, but then, there's already it's smaller brother Sitar which is usually played at C/C#. That's a better option than tuning Surbahar to C. Hope this helps.
