Pt Ravi Shankar.... Most definitely a legend, is un-missable in the above list ... However in a previous video , *Rick* mentioned him and the influence his music has had on *The Beatles* , so I presumed they were aware of his legendary musician status, so didn't mention him .... But you guys are right, the above list is incomplete without his name .... And his *Jugalbandi* ie duets with the other greats are an absolute treat for anyone.

Rick it's amazing to see you having such finely tuned sensitivity to subtleties of Indian classical music. I don't know for how long you have been exposed to it, but you instantly respond to the beauty spots of Indian music like a true connoisseur. There are usually 21 strings in a professional sitar, but some may have down to 18- in any case, 6 are the prime strings for actual notes and the rest are for secondary notes and chords. It's one of the finest of Indian classical instruments, and is today one of the most widely known alongside tabla, thanks to Sitar maestro Pt. ('Pundit') Ravi Shankar and Ustaad ('Master') Allah Rakha respectively. . This is Raga Bhairavi (By-ruh-wee) which is of a serene, reclusive, and renunciant mood, with all notes 'komal' that is like flat (b); and therefore performed at the end of a concert. I hope you'll find someone to guide you through to listening to Raga music from entry to deepest treasures. Until then, please keep enjoying.

The beauty of Niladri Kumar is that he is able to play a string instrument to sound very close to the human vocal cords. There are artists who can play an instrument to a T and hit the notes to the most accurate level but it will still sound "Strings & Metallic" but he is able to make it sound close to human vocals... Like if a classical vocalist sings the same raag, then vocalists tends to finish the same notes in many different variations.. But when we use an instrument to imitate the same note, there are limitations against the human abilities. He amongst the few artists who can create those variations. In other words, you if are able to sing the same Raag, then just imagine yourself humming it and that's exactly what he creates with his skills... He is Phenomenal. Skills like this separates artists like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Shujat Khan, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.. so in this world there are "THEM" and then there are Musicians no matter how good they are....
@nirmalkumaras

Sitar and Veena are for stirring the souls. Those string are sometimes connected directly to the heart and it moves with the music. The wonderful thing this, this lineage was carried forward by generations after generation just by practice and playing back thousands of time. That is why the instrumentalist dedicates his / her whole life learning it and living by it. Glad that the grammar for music was built in India on a rock solid foundation of Raag, Taal and Sur and the legacy continues till today. And we have wonderful people to improvise it time and again with dedication, and without spoiling the grammar. Enjoy the music, treat your soul with classic notes and love more! Tabala can't be hit like drum, see that black round on tabala? Once I hit hard with my finger on it and that black thing just popped like rocket😂 that's the thing that allows tabala to get different sounds. On right side its Tabala on left drum is dekka, in Kerala that's the name😂... And we can adjust the tones there's few solid blocks around Tabala, by adjusting that its be done🙌.... Love you guys.. keep up... Come to India... Don't forget to bring the pretty good bro😂💖

Tabla is indeed a very recent indian instrument.... It was modified from the pakhawaj about 1000-1500 years ago.... Sitar is one of the core instruments of indian classical music.

FYI - I used to play the tabla and you really don't need to hit the tabla very hard to produce sound. Also, if you noticed each tabla has a black circle in the middle. That is not just for decoration, it produces different sounds depending on if you hit the black circle or the uncolored area outside or even the outer edge of the tabla.

Wadali Brothers + Sufism+Classical Raag(s) + when you dedicate/surrender yourself to God and Music = Hallucination to some other world. Your all kind of Tensions and headache gone. You don't need Doctors instead Music itself has power to Heal You. We have lot to Give the World, conditions are : 1.You should have the immense capability to Handle it. 2. Give credit to the sources. In India, our philosophy teaches, not to steal, rather just say Thanks to the Giver. That's all. 😊
