Situation With Dessy's Health Problem! 

You will be in my thoughts and prayers, any surgery can be scary. I had to have my gall bladder removed several years ago, at the time my husband and I lived 1600 miles from all my family. I was in my thirties and I wanted my mom there with me. I paid for her to fly out and spend two weeks with me, I'm glad that your mother will be there with you. Regardless of how old we get we still want our mothers when we are sick. Don't worry about how long you need to recover, we will be here when you are able to return.

You are going to be fine, I had my thyroid out when I was 13 I am 73 now. You can do very well with out it just take your pills every day. You will also feel so much better without having a raging thyroid. I will say a prayer for a speedy recovery. God will be with you sweetheart.

Thyroid issues and women's health is very common. I know surgery is scary. I faced that with multiple surgeries as well. Your recovery will be significant--including NO TALKING. You will need time to sleep and recover--your body will have gone through a significant event. Young people always think they will just jump back. Be kind to yourself and allow your body time to recover. That is the goal.

Dessy, I had the same surgery 40 yrs ago, and I'm 62 now. I take a pill everyday to compensate not having a thyroid. You will do great and you will feel so much better. Sending blessings that you heal quickly and completely 🙏 ❤

Dessy, I have gone thru surgery couple of times for different reasons and it has been also very scary, all I can say to you is to put your trust in your doctor and in God and you will see that everything is going to be alright. When no new video appeared for a week I was concerned if one of you were having health issues. I am so sorry to hear about your thyroid problem Dessy but glad that you have sought medical professionals to help you. Surgery is always worrisome and I'm praying for your speedy recovery . Hi Dessy, hope all goes well with your surgery. You will be in my prayers. I also was diagnosed with hyperthyroid but later in life I found out I had Graves disease that was causing it. Finally at 56 (little over a year ago) i chose to take the radioactive iodine pill to kill my thyroid. Im now in the process of getting the dosing right with my doctor for the levothyroxine pill. Once we get that corrected I will be good to go. Hope your transition after is a quick recovery. ~Starla Yandell

Great job getting in the hay, and finding more ways to be self sufficient, you two are very resourceful. I have had a few surgeries, and it's scary the first time, but by cooincidence, my 2nd surgery, my roommate had her thyroid removed. She was still able to get up and around, and in good spirits. The good thing is that you have been aware, and treating this issue, and seem to have very good doctors, just listen to them, and follow their advice for aftercare, and do not overdue it during recovery, and you will do well. Its also lucky for you, that you have relatives that have had this issue and can support you from their own experience with this.

Glad your Mom is coming to help. We are all with you, thinking of you and praying for you. David will keep us posted. Rest, think of happy things, listen to peaceful music, practice deep breathing, look around to all you and your husband have created. This too shall pass. 💕🌷

And now that you are done "Hayinit",as we called haying it time when I was a kid, things should be more normal. I hope the season is long enough you can get a second cutting. It would be nice! I don't know if they offer it there or still do it but consider asking about radioactive iodine. It's a pill you take that will shut off your thyroid the same way surgery will. I had this done about 20 years ago. They can give you either a smaller amount to keep part of your thyroid still functioning or enough to make it stop all together and then you manage with medicine. One thing to remember (at least for me) is that once you go from overactive to under active, it's a BIG change energy wise. It's very important to keep the levels in line or it can become significantly harder to manage daily life. Good luck!

Despina, I was diagnosed with ' Graves Disease' in my mid 20's. I was always hot, my heart rate was very high. I had mine removed with radioactive iodine. It worked! You won't believe how much better you'll feel in about a week or 2 or until they find the right dose of medication for you. I'm 60 now and all I've had to do is take one tiny pill everyday and get blood tests (checkups) once a year. So many of the surgeries you are having get done. Don't worry sweetie, it won't be bad at all. Mine wasn't surgery but I know several ladies who have had it and they said it's not bad at all. Been there, done that! Mine was atrophied! Been on a low dose of thyroid replacement for years. No issues. It was attached to my vocal chords. I had to talk softly for a couple of weeks while healing. Mine was a day surgery here in the US. You'll do great!

Good luck with your surgery. I had my thyroid removed back in 2008 and haven’t had too many problems since the initial infection that I had in my surgical site. You are young and healthy so you make a full recovery fairly quickly. It will be very important to make sure you take your thyroid medication every day as directed in order to keep your body functioning properly.

I had a thyroidectomy 24 yrs ago ai 43 yrs. old. I've had 9 surgeries so far and the thyroid surgery was by far, the easiest one to have. They took out the right one first and a yr. later they took the left side. Stayed in hospital overnight, went home, voice was a little raspy for quite a while. When I get super tired now and again, my voice seems to fade just a little. I have to have blood work done every 6 months since the TSH can change on a dime but that's ok. It took a while for them to get my daily dosage right but finally did. I didn't have stitches but tape and it was around Halloween so I dressed as Frankenstein that year. It was super fun. The scar is unnoticeable as they cut you where the crease is in your neck. That was my biggest concern, You are young and healthy so no worries that you'll be a real trooper. I also have thyroid problems for the 12 years. For years I've been 600 mcg of synthroid. And now I'm at my medications has been lowered to 250mcg. Your lucky that your endo doctor is taking yours out. I couldn't get mine to do that.

Dessy,been there ,done that. Right lobe then left lobe 12 years apart. You’ll be fine. A couple of days in hospital and a few blood checks,they need to check calcium levels also as parathyroid glands right above thyroid and may be tickled. Please get neck pillow that you use on aircraft and use it day and night as you will find that you will hold your neck too stiff and accidentally tighten your muscles.

My aunt had her thyroid (overactive) removed too & she's ok. I have underactive & its a pain to deal with. I take selenium & Nascent Iodine 2x day. I hope your surgery goes well. I'm praying for a fast recovery for you. Blessings

So sorry about your thyroid problems, but obviously in a family problem, I had one lob removed 7 yrs ago, I had a growth on mine could not swallow big bits of food. I will Prayer for you, but Doctors now a day are very good at their jobs, should be now problems and you young as well. Sharon from South Africa.

Those three days at the hospital will get you plenty of rest so that you have a good start at healing. No longer staying at a hospital like that is not good for the patients...the rest after surgery is important.

Oh Dessy, I'm so sorry for you, but there realy isn't anything to worry about, if you have a goiter, which is the lump in your throught for an over active thyroid, you will have to have medication for it for the rest of your life, & if you have family that have had it, they will know, what your going through,,,I on the other hand have an underactive thyroid & I'm on medication, take care, sending you healing prayers ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
