The six operators are Qantas Airways, Korean Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Air France, China Southern Airlines, and British Airways! Coming in December will be Emirates!
I was at LAX in March 2012, and I saw three 380's there that day. The space by the terminals is so small for the 380 that it takes a police escort in a vehicle to help guide the plane to the runway. I saw it myself.
Fantastic compilation, Speedbird! By the way, how could someone possibly down-vote this video? This clip was uploaded less than 15 minutes ago, and someone already down-voted it - that's ridiculous. Clearly someone is jealous of Speedbird and the access he has at LAX - there is no other explanation for it. Great job, Speedbird! We love you!!
Singapore Airlines were the a380 launch customer but did not commence scheduled a380 services to LAX until mid 2011.......that one is owned by Qantas who commenced their scheduled services there in 2008......why do you think they are the first airline shown in the video?
Were you spotting by chance on Monday Oct 7th around 11AM-1PM? I went to LA and KLAX for the first time and spent a few hours thee, it was so cool! I'm so jealous you get to spend alot of time there!
Incredible Video Speedbird! I will be at LAX on 30th Oct, flying to LHR on a BA A380 on 31st. Where would be good to go 'spotting' when I am there? I would love to get some great pictures of the movements. Thanks again for sharing your video. (Scouse flyer - Liverpool, England)
speed bird i love your videos i sub and how did you manage to get into the airport and film so close to the planes, do you work at the airport or something
Airbus was the first to fly one there in 2007 and Qantas was the first airline to operate scheduled services there in 2008......see THAT video on youtube!! Lufthansa didn't even have an a380 in their fleet until 2010! They do not and have never flown an a380 there on a regular basis.......if they did they would be included in the video.
How on earth do you get to these amazing vantage points? I'm guessing you must have airside clearance? It looks like LAX is competing with LHR for A380 movements! We also have 6 operators now, would have been 7 but Thai have pushed back their A380 Bangkok service from LHR until next year!
+Vincent Chua You are right. Bought me a 20" wing span plastic model of a 747 airliner. After looking at the other carrier's paint schemes I decided Air France is the easiest to paint and it looks good.
Oscar Grant Well that would depend on the strength of the prevailing wind at the time.....Qantas's a380's and 747's arrive on the east to west runways quite often.....plenty of videos on YT to back that up.
