I like to think the original six are looking at them from wherever they are and smiling 'cause somebody finally cared to tell their story as THEIRS and not as just one more chapter of henry's.
I mean maybe- the musical doesn’t really go much into detail about there lives. Only Anne B and Katherine H. I like the songs but yeah- I didn’t like how they favorited only Anne B and Katherine H’s lives as a whole. Also i’m not sure, really we only focused about there life’s while they were with Henry besides The Two beheaded ones which isn’t really fair.
I like that this song is like an alternate universe or an "What if the tragedies didn't happened and in the modern world?" Now I wish that happened :'(
Let me tell you what I wished I'd known when I was young and dreamed of glory, you have no control: *inhales* WHO LIVES, WHO DIES WHO TELLS YOUR STORYYYYYYYYY
This song just made me realize how much id love to bring some people from the olden times to how things are now, especially many of the woman from those times. In this time they would have a chance at an actual life, they could do what they wanted, they could go to school, learn as much as they want, become millionaires because of their own successes. If they wanted to become writers they could, loved music they could do that as much as they want, they could choose their lives, choose who to marry and choose what to wear and actually have a chance at a happy life. I'm so sad that too many of the women in history were not given the chance at actual life that was worth living and the kind of life they would've wanted. But I hope these historical musicals keep coming and telling the stories of the women and the people who didn't get their stories told.
I mean, eldery women exist, and if they are already a little disconnected from the present, imagine ladies from that era! You can still help eldery enjoy the present, I'd recommend it!
If you’re interested in the women that did get to write what they want, and be who they want, marry who they want or not marry at all (which was a huge freedom choice for many women, like his first wife who joined a nunnery), then I recommend checking out this website: amedievalwomanscompanion.com and the book that goes along with it. You can learn about so many medieval women who took their own lives into their hands through the means that they had (school, the church, writing). When so many people today think they had nothing, it just isn’t true. Women have always been fighting for their right to write their own stories, just like how the creators of this musical are allowing these six to do! ☺️
I like That you can interpret the lyrics as: ,, to many years lost in history“ as in the information that gets lost when history isn’t written down or :“ to many years lost in his story“ regarding Henry the eight and how he impacted or ended their lived and how their story is almost never put in the foreground
Today when i woke up i saw a soundtrack called Dont lose your head, since then i got hooked, this is the best musical EVER thank you so much for sharing, its catchy, alternative and tells an old story in modern form and gives all the og ladies a good helping of awesome i love it so much omg
@@ninayani2397 Same! Actually I used to have this app called likee (just a Indian version of TikTok) and the audio was “I’ll think about it maybe xo baby!” And since I deleted it I tried to find the audio but I couldn’t find it. Well, I was looking at a compilation of miraculous TikToks since I don’t want to download the app because it tracks you. But I found it! (The audio was “don’t be bitter. Cause I’m fitter.” But i could tell by the beat that it was the song. And then I found out it was about Anne Boylen and I love history so I was happy. Then I listened to All you wanna do, ex wives, Haus of Holbein, and currently listening to Six. (And before you say something, yes, I know it is bad that I found that amazing song off of a rip-off version of TikTok. I’m sorry😭🤚🏽)
I love how there were only three names for girls in tudor England if you look at just the names of the six. Three variations of Catherine Two Anne variations idk One jane Three names There are three names for these six women! 😮
We’re ONE(1) of a kind No category TOO(2) many years lost in his story We’re FREE(sounds like 3) to take Our crowning glory FOR(4) FIVE(5) more minutes We’re SIX🤯
im european but was born in america, and let me just say these women (the actual six wives) make me so incredibly proud for no reason other than just being themselves. regardless of how long they lived, they still lived their life to its fullest potential . they were determined and just children when they were roped into what they were known for (being one of king henrys wives). they had aspirations, dreams, and goals, but was grabbed in by the king. I have full confidence that all of these women would have changed the world, more than they already did. we were robbed of their importance in history during school.
I literally got chills listening to this for the first time. Its so incredible seeing these amazing women's stories get told by six modern amazing women
this is legitimately so sad considering this is the ideal lives they could have had but... well the reality is far different from this bittersweet fantasy
@@katiehedervary2413 no I know...I meant I'm not usually a big fan of the whole modern music meets historical events musical ( of which Hamilton is the most prime example), but Six is an exception to that
I like in the picture there are actually six people its not just any number my teacher literally loves this song this is amazing I love how much care they have put into this song.
@@musicallyrics3824 I feel kinda stupid for having to ask, but is megasix the only thing left? It's such a great musical it would suck if it was only 7-8 songs.
"Nothing is for sure, nothing is for certain" - At first, I thought they were talking about their lives because they didn't know they were going to die so young, but after listening to it a few more times, I think they're trying to say that their stories in this show are not necessarily historically accurate because no one knows with 100% certainty what happened. Is that right? If so, it's interesting that they would say that in the actual show. That's usually something people would look up later if they're interested in the history behind it.
Fun fact: During the chorus of the song, they are counting to six, look. "We're 1 of a kind, no category, 2 many years lost in his story we're 3 to take our crowning glory 4, 5 more minutes, we're 6.
I feel bad for Catherine( the first one) but she at least when to the church thats good but still I feel bad but Mary(her daughter) wanted England to be Catholic again but she had a good intention but she did it the wrong way. Instead of killing the people she should have preached and did it anoth er way
Um... yeah, this song is the finale where the girls envision themselves in a happy ending. In fact, Catherine of Aragon refused to go to a convent when it was suggested, as she insisted she was the true Queen of England and Henry's only wife. She ended up being exiled and moved from castle to castle until she died.
Idk if this was on purpose but,,, We're (1/one) of a kind, no category, (2/Too) many years lost in his story We're (3/free) to take our crowning glory, (4/For) (5/five) more minutes, We're (6/SIX)
Someone should explain to me what Howard means lol, like I’m reading the lyrics and I don’t get what she’s talking about at all, I’m so dumb but can someone plz explain
I believe she’s referring to her music teacher Henry Mannox when she says Music Man and how he hit on her (and historically speaking, sexually exploited her.) The line about her giving it a try and singing is her saying that she will live her own life, and how she won’t let the men who’ve hurt her tie her down. Hope this helped clear things up!
@@localbottlecap yes, also Henry Mannox was the first person to sexually exploit and take advantage of. Her line could also mean she refused his advances and the cycle of abuse didn’t continue for her.
