I couldn’t cry for some reason. I think the cause was my anxiety. My sister was in the room beside mine and my parents were downstairs. I was too anxious to cry as I was afraid to get caught crying.

As a 6w5 I personally feel like all my emotions are mixed, I feel depressed sometimes... but then the slightest things cheer me up. That's why I hate myself. I want to be happy but I feel like I'm not good enough, like I need to be perfect... It's really hard for me.😔 I'm tired of being scared... but then again. It's what helps me stay cautious. I think it's the effect of growing up with a bad idea that I would never be good enough. It started when I got picked on in 4th grade, and since then all I've wanted is to be perfect, respected, and better than I was. I felt like anything would be better than my life. I still feel that way. I have this constant fear that I am worthless, that i am useless. I wished that i could be admired, when the truth was i was changing myself for society. I was so afraid of being a "loser" or a "worthless brat". I didnt know if I was ok or not. I just... was so scared. I wanted to believe that I was perfect, that people loved me, but then I knew (thought) they didnt. I didnt know until I watched this video, that there is hope...

This made me cry. Being a six, I always feel like life is an endless toll of worrying, worrying, worrying, and I'm always so tired of being this afraid. I'm tired of always doubting things, when what I truly want is to open up, believe in my dreams, and just let faith guide me. Dear 6’s, I know you all are very afraid of committing because of the fear of being rejected, and I don’t even know what to say. Honestly, you all are so very much stronger than you think. Think about it. If you do get rejected, you will finally realize that it isn’t the end of the world. Being rejected isn’t as bad as all you 6’s think. And we all need to be rejected once in a while. The only thing I fear about everyday is loosing my family. Whenever my parents go out, I always pray and hope they come back safe. I always make sure everything will be ok. So when the song gets to “Don’t be afraid” i broke down. And it’s because of all of the bad things that happen around the world I always fear it could get to my family

As a six, i always try to keep positive thoughts in my head and go into things with a smile but there’s always those worries in the back of my mind no matter what im doing. And god it gets SO tiring being worried and anxious and afraid over everything. Sixes are a wild breed, man. We’re a lot stronger than we’ve grown to accept.

The first part of the song definitely hit home for me. It's kinda scary how accurate the song is. The two quotes that really hit me hard were "God, I'm so tired of being afraid" and "Is it courage or faith to show up everyday"

I'm typed as a Six and "God, I'm so tired of being afraid," is a _constant_ mood. Hell, it's something I tell myself _a lot._ But I'm trying to give myself a little credit, I guess, and sort of finally throwing myself into things I was scared to pursue last year. (Taking extra-curriculars, signing up for school events, wanting to learn a new language, confronting the plans for college that fell apart when I was.. what? Eleven? Twelve and starting to think that maybe I'll never be cut-out for anything, I'll never be good at any job, I'll never be happy or competent, or a fully-functioning member of society because I'm too scared to be independent?) Still _waaay_ terrified about some things, (read: most things) but I'm working on finally feeling the confidence people say they admire in me. Fake it 'til you make it, right? Thank you for the song, and for the chills that ran up and down my entire body while I was listening to it. It felt and sounded like a lullaby, and I _loved_ that because that feeling of safety and peace is everything I ever wanted. (Can I add that at some parts it coincidentally sounded like the melody for the line "I was never attention's sweet center," from She Used to Be Mine? Which is a song I also really like.) When they song says "I was floating to heaven but I could only look down." I think that really speaks to me. I could be in an amazing point in my life and be terrified of failing or going back to how things were. When things do go back to how they were and im presented with a better choice, I feel like I'm pressured to make the better choice for others. Even then I'm still paranoid on whether thats the right option. Those choices are always there, and life forces me to make them sometimes but if I had the option, I would rather be alone and not have to think about other people or their judgements.

6's underestimate themselves. Although we feel insecure about our friends, we have a select few who we put our trust in completely. We feel alone so much, but in the back of our minds we know people are there, bit were stuck to feel so, so alone. Even though you feel like no one else is going through it, this whole comment section just goes to prove your not. We feel insecure because we think too much, we feel like an outcast because we underestimate ourselves, but most importantly we feel alone because of the other feelings. People start to view us the way we think of our selves, and that's exactly what were scared of.

Came here because of the tiktok test thing going around. Took it and it said I was a six. I think I'm too emotionally detached to get it. I hear this song and pay attention to the lyrics but I don't really feel much of anything. I don't feel sad, I don't cry, nothing. I certainly relate to the lyrics but it sparks nothing.

I cry every single time I listen. My little six heart breaks and glows at the same time. I have plans to get a tattoo that says "I was made to become a sanctuary." I want to carry that with me forever and see it every day, to remind me that I am strong, and I can so this.

I'm a 6. I've been reading about enneagram and learning about the types and myself for several years. I like to think I understand the theory at a fairly advanced level. I *never* considered, at any point, that anyone would appreciate me worrying on their behalf. I don't think I even realized that I was trying to protect others in that manner. I just thought over and over again that I must be burdening others by fretting so much. You know, that's what you internalize. "You worry too much", "You're always anxious", "You should relax". The idea that worrying could make me a sanctuary for other people's fears is brand new and yet so clear. I fret about other people because I don't want them to get hurt. Even as a child, I would notice when my parents were anxious about budgeting for this or that, and I would start parroting their fear and take it into myself. I would go to the store with my mother and say "we don't need to buy more snacks, we should save money". I was a *kid*, and I was taking their fears into myself, because I wanted to keep them safe. And people are thankful for it, but I never registered it properly. "Thank you for taking care of that", "You're so thoughtful", "Thank god you're always here". You did give me some peace, Ryan. Gosh, the strength. You can feel it in his voice, and see it in the lyrics. It's so empowering. I can feel and identify with every fiber of this song. I absolutely love the embodiment that even though Six's are anxious and fearful we still wish to find strength by providing for others, _by supporting others._ How odd and special is that? We support others, and that in turn supports us. We are so incredibly strong and brave, and to anyone reading this, I hope you know you are too.

To be honest, i want to give up on my life. I wish i have never existed anywhere, i feel like i'm too fragile and not suited to even exist in this world :( I even thought about comitting suicide several times, but i don't have the courage to do so 'cause i don't want to hurt my parents. My biggest fear is when both my parents are not in this world anymore (this is bound to happen someday). When that happen, i'm sure that will affect me tremendously & then i don't have any reason left to not commit suicide :(

I typed as a Six. My constant and sometimes needless worry for others has always driven me to be the most compassionate person to my friends that I can (where I differ from a Two). I want to be there to listen, to help, to heal, to make them feel safe, because every day of my life I feel that fear and anxiety - that if I don't listen, they may need someone to talk to, that if I don't help, I'm insensitive, that if I don't heal, I'm hurting. But I don't do it because I want to be praised or seen as a "good friend" because I know how it feels to not have one. Type Sixes are seen as the Loyalist: we devote each and every part of ourselves to the ones we trust. When that gets broken, over and over and over again, you hang on. You hold onto the friends who hurt you because they still need you. It destroys you. But being a loyalist means to develop and grow, and to devote yourself to the people who appreciate it. They may never tell you while they're hurting what you do for them, but years later, friends have told me "I don't know what I'd do without you, if you weren't in my life when you were." And that's what being a type six is being about. To provide those you love with that safe place - that sanctuary - so that they can gather the strength to face the next day with you.

This song really hit me big time as a Sixes, but the part "always waiting behind" gave me goosebumps. This is actually me, I'm always afraid to take the lead, answering the question first and noted to be a fool. I'm getting to this a bit late but I was in a friendship (a group of people) that didn't like like me and I tried to change myself to fit in with them. Reading the other comments shows me that it wasn't unique and that others have had this happen too. To those people I was the one they could come and talk to when they were upset... But as soon as i needed help, they turned their backs and reacted as if I wasn't even there. I tried all I could but they just didn't listen. I ended up being a loner for a while because I was afraid it would happen again and that I would never find people that accept me and will help me through my problems and not just ignore me. I am lucky to have found these people at the moment and I am proud to say we all help eachother. I am proud of the young people we have become and I hope the rest of the 6s have the chance to feel what true friendship feels like because it is worth fighting for.

I’m a 7w6, but this song speaks to me so much. It’s so beautiful and It’s one of my favorites of SAL. The thing is, is when I first listened to it, I refused to listen to it again because I knew how true it was. The emotions it put in me made me uncomfortable and so I didn’t listen to this song for a few months. I’ve just recently come back to it and I have no regrets. I’m like this with other SAL songs too, the emotion he invokes, even when it doesn’t even apply to me, just makes me heart thump. So, my dearest thanks to SAL, and to TIM for releasing these songs. I feel like I need to let this out, at least anonymously, because I've been keeping everything to myself for three years now. This will be long and I'm not pushing you to read this. It all started when my bestfriend found another set of friends. She was the one I trust the most, I even think that I trust her more than my own parents. We were bestfriends for more than 10 years, we always talk about something. I was with her when we made our own fantasy world back when we were still kids. She was there for me and I was there for her. Every. Time. Before... After years of friendship, we got separated for a year but we still keep in contact. We never let it be a hinder to our friendship. We make time for each other by sacrificing things and time. Little did I know that within that year, she could find another set of friends. I don't know how. I guess she spends the time with them when I was not with her. I'm not that introvert before so I still made friends, but of course I wouldn't replace my bestfriend. She was the best. Unfortunately, I wasn't the best for her. I tried to befriend her new found friends too, but I only felt out of place most of the time for almost two years. I put up with them because I know that the moment I leave them, I will also lose my bestfriend. I thought I could put up with everything, but I had a huge personal problem. She and her friends had a problem too. That was the time that I realized I wasn't the "bestfriend" of my bestfriend anymore. Instead of comforting me, which I needed the most that time, she just focused on her other friends. I got anxiety and I have no one to talk to. All I have was my bestfriend at times like those, but what could I do if I also lost her? After that incident, I made up my mind to stop being with her and her friends. That made me a loner, for months I have no one beside me. I have no one to talk to. I couldn't even talk to my parents about my problems because I'm not open with them. I handled and fixed my problem on my own. However, I developed a trust issue. All I could think of when someone approaches me is that they will soon leave me. I couldn't invest in them because I'm afraid to experience the same thing. I got more careful in dealing with people, but having this feeling made me feel alone often. It made me timid. I know I'm strong because I got through that on my own, but it still made me feel weak...

i’m a six and this totally relates to me. i was diagnosed with anxiety when i was 7 and the constant feeling that something was about to happen is huge, even now. we must unite sixes, and get through this loophole of fear :)
