The smash-hit musical SIX came to the Tower of London to perform a special flashmob, and here's a video showing how epic the day was. You can find out more: www.whatsonstage.com/london-t...
Omg i totally understand!! I only started liking it last October/September and I didn’t get to see the original cast in it live or go to any flash mobs or west end live 😭
I didn't know about this when it happened, but if I walked past, I would have given a weird look like "what are they doing lol" and then search the soundtrack and listen to it on full volume for the next 5 months
I was a little teary realizing the Tower of London is where Catherine Howard and I were beheaded. And here we are with Henry’s other wives performing for over hundreds of fans.
I was expecting absolute chaos from the title, kind of glad that it was so great? But also a bit disappointed I didn’t see a crowd of girls go absolutely buck wild over a musical
Imagine henry and his wives walking on that ground never knowing that years later people would be preforming a musical about his wives. wow that went deep
I get so emotional seeing all the young girls in the crowd like its so incredible for them to grow up with a musical all about making sure women can take their own place in history its so beautiful
I just commented about that, I completely agree. With all the sexism and descrimination more women are finally sticking up for themselves and are taught that it's not ok to be pushed around by men and that they can be anything they want. I just love this musical so much❤️
right!? all of them doing the choreography and singing "we're one of a kind, no category" at the top of their lungs and just getting to see all this girl power on full display is so amazing and definitely made my cry like a baby lmao
Same! Its so beautiful! Plus the casting is diverse and offers roles to women of colour who couldnt be queens of england back then much like hamilton taking back history and making it inclusive and beautiful! These young girls have a show where they can see themselves represented in as powerful! Its epic!
I'm kinda sad that the alternates didn't get to wear their costumes. If you don't know it, you could think that they are just dancer. The one sigh that they are also actors are that they have microphones.. Well I should be happy that they were there. 😊
@@jocelyn8376 again: they have their own costume, with a design different for each character. There were actress dancing with their costumes and it wasn't confusing for anyone because all of them are familiar with dancing with it. Even if you don't know the musical, by seeing their costumes you could tell that they are part of the cast instead of dancers. And I don't know what kind of costume you're thinking they are wearing, is only diva's clothes, none of them are dressing something like what the actual queens wore in their life centurys back
@@jocelyn8376 your opinion based in something you said before that you don't know about. What a shame that instead of searching about you prefer to use the "it's my opinion" card
@@jocelyn8376 of course because you said now the internet has to obey you, sadly I didn't saw that sooner. Look kid, if you don't want your "opinion" criticised on internet then you don't post it. Specially if what you claim to be opinion is actually something you don't even know about. Stop being childish with this "stop replying" thing and just grow up. You can search information about the musical and then form an actual opinion or you can be quiet and forget about this comment section. Either way: you move on.
Quite bizar to think of how they are literally around the corner of the place where Boleyn and Howard were excecuted... Honestly such a great tribute for them
I’d personally disagree on the basis that some may see this as glorifying their deaths and/or where the musical isn’t historically accurate they’re not accurately portraying the women who lost their lives. Would have been better to do this outside Buckingham Palace/at a castle rather than the site two of the women the characters are based on died. He’ll even at one of the parks would have been better. I know they didn’t mean to but this just feels disrespectful having a song and dance on what is basically someone’s grave while making statements that are ‘facts’ about said dead. (Edit: by ‘facts’ I mean they’re not true at all/completely inaccurate or over exaggerated for the sake of entertainment). I like the musical but *yikes*
The Filmbinder i disagree with you but i completely understand where your coming from. these women were wrongfully executed there and understand how that can be seen a disrespectful, but this musical celebrates them and brings their stories into the spotlight. i think it’s quite cool that they did it there.
I know it’s kinda cheesy, but I hope the real wives are all looking down on this musical and it’s fans and are proud that they’re finally getting the love and justice they’ve all deserved all along
I really love the idea of that but realistically they would probably think all of this degeneracy, not just because of the "skimpy" outfits compared to the garments back in their day but also because it wasn't allowed for women to be performers at all. But then again, maybe people learn to accept the changing times when they go to heaven and see so much time pass by on earth. That's a comforting thought.
The fact that some people here in the comments pretend to be some of the ex-wives and the rest of the comments going with it is just so wholesome. I’m so proud of this community.
I got a little bit emotional seeing so many women gathered together at the Tower of London singing about and celebrating these women who lived so long ago but were lost in his story.
Um who am I Again also do you know how hard it is to sing in key and in time while moving around?? There is a high level of athleticism involved to keep your voice steady as well as developing endurance.
You're pretty wrong. Stage acting and screen acting are two completely different ballparks. Not everyone who can do one can do the other. It takes some skill to master both. And who the hell uses CGI for your voice? Even then, CGI has nothing to do with a person's ability to act. Remember that they have to work in front of greenscreens or walk around in ridiculous CGI bodysuits, or talk to the air before the final product is shown. And of course, the autotune argument. I assure you that on a lot of the cast recordings, they most likely use a little bit of pitch correction (not autotune- which is pretty much what everyone calls any digital alterations to the voice nowadays). Because no one has perfect pitch- not even stage performers.
@@mochamatcha25 Seymour died of childbirth, she would have been at the castle, only Kathrine Howard and Anne Boleyn got executed at the tower of London
Something about these women coming back from the dead and returning to the place they were imprisoned/ mistreated/ raped/ beheaded, and dancing on it and having their own voice and their own story, makes me really emotional 😭
I like to imagine Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard’s ghosts were watching this from the Tower of London prison windows thinking “damn they still got they heads”
I was here! We did this so many times. Gotta get them angles 😂. And not enough people were doing the choreography. It was so much fun, but could not be mistaken for a flash mob. There was a damn countdown 🤣.
The fact they sang that at the place of Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard’s beheading is like a big old “screw you Henry” by literally everyone in the world it’s amazing.
Take a second to appreciate how the crowd is so respectful through out the whole thing, no ones trying to grab them, no ones crowding them too much and even near the end they let them have their space ✨
I love seeing them all screaming this song at the top of their lungs, knowing they're at a place where two Queens lost their heads for absolutely no reason, and just slamming these lyrics into the bricks of the Tower, telling them that they all love them and they know it wasn't their fault.
I finally realized why this makes me cry everytime I see it - All these girls who hear this song get to see that Women aren't defined by who they were to the powerful men around them. Its one step in a long line of reclaiming women's stories and showing who they actually were, not who the men around them told the world they were. All these girls are gonna grow up and hear this, and know that their stories are their own.
I got emotional for several minutes: 1) Large British gathering and no violence 2) Young girls growing up learning about women carving their names in history 3) The boys in that crowd enjoying themselves, I afraid that theatre and singing is a “girly thing” (This is such a big bullying issue in Britain I cannot express to you) 4) The real sense of community this video gives
Okay, but seeing so many young women (and men!) singing and dancing along to a musical about reclaiming the history of women who were largely forgotten for YEARS on the site where it all occurred has me choking up. It's meta, and it's beautiful, and I love it. I mean, just LOOK at those wide shots!
Okay and I'm responding to my own comment and getting super cheesy, but at 3:44 you see the windows from the Tower of London and I wondered if these women ever looked out of them where hundreds of years later people would be celebrating a musical that immortalizes them... AND NOT HENRY! They'd have no way of knowing, obviously, I mean, OPERA wasn't even common in England at this point, but the idea of it just blew my mind a little...
@@DigiDestined13 Half of these people I’ve been looking up to for years ya know they r a massive inspiration to me and I just kinda freaked out that they were right INFRONT of me
When you've see Six, Hamilton, hadestown, and Percy jackson, les miserables,1776, scottsborro boyz, angels in america, and the great comet. I'm basically a history expert 😂😂
This isn’t filmed by a fan it was the official filming so ofc it’s good quality, you coul actually see it’s being filmed professionally as at some angles you can see the pro’s filming etc
Imagine the ghost of Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard in the tower while this was going on🤧They'd be like:The heck in all my years I have never seen anything like this🤣
Okay, first the alternates (Vicki, Zara Collette and Courtney, I think) and the the main cast (Jarneia, Millie, Nathalie, Shakinah, Aimie and Maiya I think) Tell me if I missed anyone.
Yeah, the OG West End Cleves was Alexia Macintosh. Shekinah originated Cleves in the UK tour though so I'm guessing it had already been decided and that's why she had her own costume.
@@queenofspades2365 shekinated originally started out as an alternate for the West end cast. But was moving to the uk tour in October, few weeks after this was filmed, so she could’ve worn her alt costume but as she was covering for Lexi, who was MIA for this performance for some other stuff (I’m assuming) and her “new” costume for Cleves was ready so it was just easier for her to wear that I guess
This made me so sad! Remember last summer where it was lovely and sunny and happy and we could all be close to each other and dance? I miss that so much 🥺
Always get chocked up at the verse "too many years lost in history, we're here to take our crowning glory". Little did they know how influential they would become not one but all of them in their own right.
I'm just going to say I got chills at the end, it's so beautiful how many girls are there, but I have total respect for the boys that are there too that are singing and dancing because they are just as into it as the girls are and it really shows that both genders can enjoy this musical without being ashamed.
Id like to think if Anne and Katherine haunt that tower they got a sweet show of how much love theyre getting so many years after their unjustly deaths
I’m a fairly young person and i’m soo glad i am growing up with these kinds of musicals, they’re educational, funny, talk a lot about important stuff like rights and history, and the songs are bangers! Like seriously i love this musical and many other musical with it!
I’ve never seen Six, I was introduced to the musical through this flash mob! My Partner and I were heading to the Tower of London and people started singing! We couldn’t get the song out of our heads for the rest of the weekend 😂
I still love the fact that I discovered Six The Musical just right before our class tackles the English Reformation. Ugh Six saved me from History Class ♡
This is making me so happy but I want to sob at the same time, I wish I discovered this musical earlier. Also, shoutout to all the musical theater fans who can't sing or act
does anyone else watch these Live videos of your fav musicals and CRY cause either... 1: you are no where near where they preform or 2: are too broke to go see them??? BRB my Brazilian ass is gonna be crying in the corner.
I cry everytime I watch this video, the amount of energy in all the people here, it's nothing but good vibes and people living in the moment. This makes me so happy and I wish that I could have been there!
I can’t believe that it’s been 3 months after this video was made, that my family & I went to London to see the famous Tower of London, before this pandemic happened. I can’t wait to go back to visit London again, because it’s a fabulous city. Plus go back to see TOL again to pay my respects to Anne B, Jane & Katherine H. To heck with Henry!
This is so beautiful, back then people were forced to love Henry but then when he died the citizens of London rebelled. When I go to London I am stomping and dancing on his grave
Honestly if the Queens could see this I think they would be proud, it makes me emotional just having read how shitty Henry was and all the Queens having to deal with it. May the rest easy knowing the truth is being told on a global scale 💙
