How to cut a diy business card using a Sizzix Original Rectangles Die. I layout out my page in Photoshop with guide lines for cutting, so that you can align it on the Sizzix Red Die. This steel rule die has 4 rectangles but we only want to use the largest of them; so I show you how to make a template for aligning your business card artwork to cut out perfectly every time. The Sizzix Bigshot can cut through just about anything, including thick card stock, balsa wood, even leather, which makes it a great tool for die cutting diy business cards out of very heavy cardstock.

You should patent this, quick! I agree! I don't know why some manufacturer hasn't done this ages ago. There's a big demand for it! I really like how thick you got them too!

Excellent information. One thought: when cutting, I think you get a better cut edge by placing your item with the front--printed--side against the foam. The cutting blades then cut your cardstock from front to back, giving the cut edge an excellent smooth, rolled-back edge. The difference is very slight, but your attention to detail makes me think you might try it.

Gracious! Bless your soul for making this tutorial. I've been drilling Google for info on how to die cut and letterpress my own business cards (hopefully using something like the Sizzix or Cuttlebug), and I am very appreciative of your video. Thank you!

Larah McKay And double yes to your comment about the Cameo! I have one and feel guilty that I don't just use that... but I just don't think it would give the same crisp edge that a die would, especially for thick paper!

Larah McKay Thanks, Larah! I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person who wanted to do this!

Larah McKay I love my Silhouette, especially for the pen tool feature. But I'll never get rid of my Big Shot, because it can cut through thick material like nothing else out there.

I laser print plain black and white cards onto A4 along with cutting lines and do letterbox drops. Tonight I printed and cut 120 cards in 20mins. I realy thunk it's cheaper to pay your local print shoo. Most places these days will do 150 for $10

This was inspiring thanks. I really like the idea of using envelopes for cardstock making the card more durable, clean and professional looking. I currently am searching for a way to handcraft my own design stamp with business information for my hobby. I can buy them online or through a local store but I am wanting to create them by hand. I have found videos on the subject of diy stamps but not currently what I am looking for. If you could direct me to a video or any information leading me to this idea I will be grateful. Thanks and happy crafting. Your video has lead me to some new ideas. You're great.

Painter blue tape you can re use over and over. Also Cricut Explore is off the charts might be what you are looking for. Thank you for sharing. Also Check tim holtz doesn't he have ATC die? I think is a card size already in the market or even straight from sizzix ATC die?

Pro31Designs Hi there, Pro31. I have done some business card sized cuts on my Silhouette Cameo, and it is a good option if you want to do print and cut. I'm planning to do a video on that too. My thought was that it could not cut thick enough cardstock, and I guess I have a pet-peeve about flimsy business cards. Another commenter said she has cut thick stuff on her electronic die cutter, so I'm going to give it a try in another video.

Pro31Designs Yes, the Tim Holtz ATC die is one of my favorite Sizzix Dies. (I have a video about it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x3Pr8wnTYUA.html ) However, it is ATC / Playing Card size which is 2.5 x 3.5" which is not the dimensions of a standard business card. Others have suggested a wafer-thin die (aka thin metal die) that is almost, but not exactly, a biz card size. And I'm just not sure how thick of material they can cut. It would surely be one at a time, but the plus side is that you could easily align it. Thanks for the suggestions. I often find lots of great ideas in the comments!

I sent this info to your earlier video. Hope it's useful: This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but these dies might be easier to use. They are from ellisoneducation.com(Sizziz parent company), and are their AllStar dies, which are the same as Sizzix Bigz. One die is Flashcard or Trading Card, #A10332, 2.5" x 3.5 ($11.99). The other is Rectangle, #10217, 2" x 4" ($19.99). I know each is one-half inch larger than the standard size you want; however each of these dies is just the one cut in the middle of the die, which might make cutting easier because you wouldn't have to position your cardstock around other images. Perhaps you could place one edge of your cardstock one-half-inch inside the cutting line to get the size you want.I've followed your videos with interest because I like the way you work out solutions. Again, I know this isn't perfect, but today I went through all of my steel rule dies and this is the closest I could find.

Why you can't use the ready made cards and stick on it your favor paper?

I hate flimsy business cards, and I've always found perforated sheets that you put through the printer to be too lightweight for my taste. I also want a really sharp crisp straight cut, which is something I never have been able to achieve with a paper cutter or exacto. That's why I want to use a die, or the CC/Id cutting machine in my other video.

I would just have a custom stamp made that I could stamp onto the cardstock paper. Then just punch it out.
