On this episode of Side Job Saturday...
...client called and stated his brake pad warning light came on. He also stated a [Insert national aftermarket chain conglomerate] wanted to charge him a total of $3000 to do the job. That's when I said bring it in. And bonus, also wanted slotted and drilled rotors.

The best of all the Jaguar XF rear brake videos. All in detail and a steady, clear vision of all the components. Great work!

This video really helped. My jag xf is in Canada 220 000km. Had a shimmy feeling in the breaks ... and lots of life left. Swapped out for cross drilled. I had to so a extra step. I had to sand and file the anchor area of the calipers... where the pads anchor. It had divots from no caliper grease.

You should set up an affiliate account with Amazon and then create links for all the products you use so you can get paid when people purchase those things. I have watched this video SO MUCH in preparation for doing a brake/rotor job on my XF and I would have GLADLY clicked on links and purchased the products from Amazon to support you! THANK YOU for this video!

Be interested to know what sort of grease you smeared on the face of the rear piston - looked like the same type you put on the edges of the pads - anti-squeal. Just concerned that it was very close to the piston's rubber boot, and wondering whether there's a risk of it attacking the rubber?
@dorifutodorima
@dorifutodorima 4 года назад
It's just caliper grease. I never had a problem with it ruining any rubber parts.

Do you need any specific electronic tools to put epb into maintenance mode before working on the rears? If not, how do you recalibrate once finished? Thanks
@GetOffMyyLawn
@GetOffMyyLawn 2 года назад
Normally you can just make sure the parking brake is released before shutting the car off. There is an unwind procedure in the SDD software, and some code readers, but it is not needed just for a pad and rotor change. If you do put the parking brake into service mode, just pull up on the brake switch and hold for 2 seconds

Is this a 2019? If so, did you have to use a computer to release the brakes or something?

If the rear pistons are would back (in) more than is required to allow the new pads to fit the disc (rotor) will they automatically come out to the correct position when in use or is 'distance in' important? Do you know do rear pistons for XE also have to be wound in?
@dorifutodorima
@dorifutodorima 5 лет назад
Once the job is done, pump the brake pedal to push the pistons back out. Rear pistons will need to be wound in with a brake caliper tool. Also, you'll need to reset the electronic parking brake.

Hey, what point did you use the floor jack on? I see you placed a jack stand on the pinch weld, but the floor jack was further towards the middle. My XF has plastic under body panels that shroud the frame, did you jack the car from the frame with the plastic under body panels still in place?

Do I need to replace the sensor wire every time I change my brakes ? Or can I change them without disconnecting it
@dorifutodorima
@dorifutodorima 4 года назад
You can use the same wires as long as the sensor wasn't triggered from low pad thickness. You'll need to disconnect it as the sensor sits on the pads

Hi, Great video. I intend to replace the brake rotors and pads on my XF soon. What kind of lubricant do you use for the guide pins? Silicone or copper lubricant? For the brake caliper bracket and pads corners i'm planning to use copper lubricant. Good idea? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work
