I had bought the comp r 12’s set from Best Buy. They hit pretty good but after watching videos like this I pulled the trigger and ordered two SVR 12’s and holy crap what a difference. I took the kickers back.
Thanks for showing these two subs.I have 2 15 SVR on RP1500 and it does exactly what I desire. The sound quality is the most important fact to me and the svr is awesome at sq the lows are superb. Really dig your channel and the test you conduct. Definitely helps the consumer.
I'm running 2 E v4 15s in a 6.5³' enclosure tuned 30hz on a skar skv2 3500.1 in my daily and I love it! Metered 150.3 ! I'd say thats damn good for 2 super budget subs
Would like to have seen a comparison with seperate boxes exactly alike measured maybe at a foot away. I really feel like the differences between the two subs stiffness can affect the output of each sub when placed together in the same box sharing air space!!! The stiffer sub is going to provide more back pressure
Man I really love your channel brother! I'm gonna do a sealed box with 2 svr 12's in it... this video helped me pull the trigger on them....I love American bass but I put one sdr 15 in about 2cf sealed in my son's car & was amazed at how great a sub that cheap sounded & how hard hitting it was.. figured if I went up to the svr 12s in my own car I'd be happy.... but you're videos are my go to for these decisions... thank you soo much for all you do for us bassheads!!!
Skar for the win , I love skar products but in really starting to be a big American bass fan, sundown is good stuff but man the pricing for people on a budget I'd got to go wit skar or American bass
One of sundown engineer's left and started skar audio so you are basically getting the same product with a different name at a lower cost all have the same build and quality, it's like Rockford and kicker , and jl , you pay for the name !!! In my opinion rockford stuff if so salty and so is jl and I had the best rockford had to offer and the best jl 12 w7 899.99 sub and wasn't happy with it now I'm happy with a American Bass xfl at a 3rd of the cost
I’m skar 4 life!!! I got an amp and an sdr12 and waiting on my svr 12 in the mail..if this is bottom of the line I can’t imagine what their higher products do. I’m very impressed!! Skar4life!!!
@@paulcherry1520 that didn't happen the only connection skar has with Sundown is that Kevin skar's owner got help from Jacob Sundowns owner on one of their first subwoofers that's about it skar has zero r&d for the most part they call up China and stamp their name on the product Sundown on the other hand does have some r&d
I gotta go with Skar. My Jeep is a soft top and sticking $200 - $300 speakers is not a smart move. This is vid is a big help, thx for this! Its nice to know I dont have to settle for crap when it comes to paying less.
I have that SVR 12 in the single speaker version of that box hooked up to a Rockville RVA-M3 @1 ohm in my Ranger and it pounds. The Rockville has preformed like a champ so far. I couldn't find much info that particular model at the time but it fit my budget so I gave it a shot and it has worked out well. I had the Skar SDR 12 before that and it was decent but if you have the money the extra $40 for the SVR is worth it. Higher sensitivity, handles the higher bass better, smoother overall sound, just seems to have more 'punch'
The Sundown E series is closer to what might be considered "entry level". They really need at least 10 hours of break-in as well. Got mine from the Sundown yard sale for a great deal. They do dig deep.
I liked this video, I am just like what your talking about where I am budget builder. I like the 200 and below subs. Maybe these subs don't have the flare of the 1500 rms ones do and all that these days? Keep them great vids coming!
idk if you just didn't put in the right info for the chart of the subs, just because you haven't updated it or just have it wrong. but its kinda ocd when i see some wrong info on it. but still dope video. quick question. i actually got the ELV 12 like a week ago but im not sure if i shoulda just got 2 svr 12s or have what i have now. (the EVL).
Whats your opinion on the massive audio hippo series? I have some 6.5s that are impressive in my opinion, looking at getting the hippo84xlr. 1800 watts "CEA" rated of course, but still very interesting. I dont see many people testing these subs thoroughly yet. Not even Exo lol.
@@BudgetBassHead I’m looking into the single 15 enclosure like this, but to throw my sundown audio E15 in. I feel like the port is too small and keep debating if I should get the 18” enclosure instead and put a baffle on the front with a cutout for the 15” . But then I fear it’ll be to big a port . What’s ur take on it?
Beats the hell out of any prefab box Own two of these Skar enclosures and Wow they are Very well built and look sound great. They have 2.0cf of air space per chamber.
So looking at this, the Skar is the go to for SPL out of these two. But that Sundown’s frequency response was next to ridiculously flat with no seeming boost in the lower lower end like some subs do. TLDR: Skar for SPL, Sundown for SQ or more accurate bass reproduction. All about trade offs.
The amplifiers are 'daisy-chained' meaning they are sharing the same sound source. There is an RCA from the tablet, to amp-A's input and another RCA from amp-A's output, to amp-B's input. Same signal.
Both subwoofers are moving due to pressure building up inside one chamber and effecting pressure from the other, before being forced through a 'shared' port. Daisy chain shares the signal with other amps.
BBH, I would really love to see the 8" ct sounds meso against the scar zvx. they are the 2 highest rated within reason. 900rms skar/ 800rms meso. i think the meso will end up kicking all the asses currently tested.if i had money rightnow its the heads up i would bring so passing it off to you since i like your content and you have the zvx already. Maybe test them both at 800 see who shines? Thanks BudgetBassHead. how about putting a 12 " Incriminator audio I series vs e series sundown. both are entry IA beat sundowns tail! Thanks for listening.
I've had both subs and built enclosures for both of them. Both very punchy and loud. Both are very good for the price. They are really peaky at their resonate frequency. They both lose impact below 33 hz in my experience. .
I've been watchin you for a lil while now and I enjoy the videos but you're using the skar enclosure which is designed for the sdr subs and not the sundown audio. I've been breakin in my sdrs for almost 2 months now and little by little I've been able to turn up the volume and/or turn up the gain on m my amp but personally sundown way underrate their subs and amps. That's just fyi I've been a skar fan for quite a while and I'm about ready to upgrade
One sub is 800 watt rms and the other is 500 watt rms. Why dont you do subs that are both rated in the same rms wattage? My friends has skar audio ddx 15s and i have 2 kicker cvx 15s and my subs sound deeper and cleaner and there both rated at 1000 rms watts. Do comparisons like that. Be equal.
Same vehicle? The vehicles make a big difference. Also 300 watts difference will not be any different to the ear. And both subs here were getting same wattage.
@@Luminous.Dynamics ddx are never better than cvx. Themm ddx get hotter and cant rake no more than 800rms in the other hand cvx takes more than 1000 rms. I had the cvx on a orion xtr 2500 giving out 2900 rms watts and were taking it like nothing. Ddx is a good budget brand, not saying kicker is better am shure skar has good products in their line.
The subwoofers share the same port. It's the effect of the air being compressed and suppressed in the chambers. The in-active speaker becomes somewhat of a passive radiator.
