You should do a video on why some people who look good in real life aren't very photogenic while others who are more photogenic dont look as good in real life, as well as people who are both photogenic and also good looking in real life.
The mirror video is a good explanation for this. It's much more related to perception of being less attractive than anything. The other factors would probably just be getting better at pictures/ expressions
Yes this would be a great idea ☺️. I think part of the issue is how a lens focuses as well as a camera’s ability to pick up on lighting. I’ve noticed that a lot of the edges on my face don’t show up on a camera unless it has a high resolution. It’s as if some cameras focus on flesh more than bone structure... 🤷🏿♀️ I think.
it's not haha just look at how many people don't have good bone structure and other things and are still considered beautiful. some faces are just better developed than others, and science consider this as attractive
Surely dachschund’s sausage shape that seems to defy physics, and inspire outlandish scenarios such as those where half the dog has crossed the road but the other half is still on the other side, and just be unbearably cute, is worthy of mention too
16:07 sounds like something a lot people need to hear. Social media trends always go back to nitpicking on side profiles. I have been too obsessed with the what-could-have-been had I not have malocclusion and had proper growth instead. Now, I’m just happy to have no jaw problems!

The whole masculine bone structure + feminine soft tissue thing reminds me of David Kibbe. Have you heard of Kibbe Types? Learning about his 7 types of beauty literally transformed the way I see people. If I remember right, angular bone structure + feminine flesh = Flamboyant Natural, which is the most common type for supermodels. Edit: oops the flesh always confuses me lol. Blunt, angular bones + soft, feminine flesh is actually Soft Natural. Flambuoyant Natural is blunt, angular bones + drier, more masculine flesh.
if i remembered correctly FNs have kind of sinewy flesh and are more athletic looking (they are blunt yang). The combination of sharp* yang bones and yin flesh is more Soft Dramatics. edit*: sharp yang (angular) in the dramatics family as opposed to blunt yang which is in the naturals family.
@@riddhidutta5601 In what way? all of the info in my comment is from Simply Kibbe. What determines a Flamboyant Natural is vertical and width, ie. blunt yang while a Soft Dramatic is vertical and kibbe curve ie. sharp yang (absence of width) and yin flesh?

Uma Thurman is someone who does not have a good profile to match her front-on appearance. You can see a slight underbite - she has a very long jaw and rather prominent chin, which you can see from the front, that she has a long face and noticeable chin. Also you can see in profile that her nose is long and the tip protrudes out rather far. It's a rather masculine profile. From front on, you can kind of see the way her lower lip and chin seem to protrude. When Thurman was young, her face had the fullness of her flesh to balance out her chin and nose tip, but as she's gotten older and she's lost that volume and fullness in the face, they've become more noticeable and lost that balance.
@@melvinskdkj8536part of me agrees but it depends what you mean by lighter because in Africa, women want light skin but not pale or like white people. They tend to want olive:gold tan skin But in east Asia it is different because pale skin is what they mean by lighter skin and it is seen are more attractive in women. There are studies that challenge what you said though because some studies I read said both men and women preferred the opposite to be an olive tan which really challenges the “objectivity” of what you said. To me I find tan skin more appealing because it looks healthier and more youthful and not too “basement dwellery” considering we live in times where everyone is inside and don’t go out in natureS Pale skin was beautiful as it was associated with the upper class not working and staying inside; but with the world modernising, the poor are the ones working inside in 9-5 corporate machines while the rich go outside on sunny expensive vacation to the Bahamas or something. So I challenge what you say because it seems which skin colour is attractive on man or woman seems to be depending on the rich who can alter it. But I do agree that in every race of man, the man wants the woman to be lighter than him.
I’ve already seen somebody ask about vintage vs modern beauty standards in a different comment section already but I think it would be such an interesting video, especially the female ones!! There are certain celebrities who definitely fit today’s standards in terms of facial growth, masculine jawlines etc (Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich, Sharon Tate, Faye Dunaway, Ursula Andress, maybe even Joan Crawford even though her face is pretty long etc) whereas some have very soft and feminine faces (Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, etc)
I’ve heard that testosterone levels are decreasing with each generation (because of EDCs), hence why men don’t look as masculine anymore. Do you have a video discussing this, or about how hormones affect our faces/attractiveness in general??
Always loved my bone structure, face and body. I hate that my weight is constantly fluctuating from 130 lbs to 160 lbs. Which changes my attraction levels to myself. My husband prefers me between 140 lbs - 150 lbs I prefer 135 lbs for myself as I am 5'5.
I've found the main thing is angularity, even if your cephalometric relations aren't ideal if your face is "bony" it will be good unless your facial growth is extremely hyperdivergent
@@LamiereByM If you look at her face her eyes are quite wide apart, her nose shape is quite unique too. Just in general find her more unique to your average perfect golden ratio looking model. She has an extra edge.
I was just thinking about this the other day. I've seen lots of jaw surgery before and afters on r/plasticsurgery and there have definitely been times that the before photo looks fine from the front. The poster will describe themselves as "pug-faced, smashed-in, etc" and it will not be visible at all, but then the side profile absolutely shows the irregularity. Also, I appreciate that each video references and builds on the previous ones; it's a bit frustrating to read comments asking you to address something that's already been discussed before on the channel.

I don't think it was ever masculine or feminine. Just that females view it as more important. We even see that masculine and feminine combinations of features add to the beauty of a model.
Indicator of youth. Fuller lips go along with fuller faces with young, firm skin and thicker flesh on the face. Look at old men in their 80s - they have more sunken-in mouth areas, and thinner lips than when they were young men, like 20. And the rest of their face, of course, has thinned-out flesh, and sunken, sagging skin. The face gets flatter and sags downwards.
Watching this video analysis of attractive side profile reminds me of Gucci & TOD's spokesperson Xiao Zhan. He has a killer side profile plus a very unique eye shape.
Amandla Steinberg has a beautiful profile to me. I also like the prognathic profile of the Great Sphinx in Egypt. I've always been attracted to men with square faces and jaw lines. It's so geometric.

side profile is a good indicator but i do think occusion can be seen from the front. usually symmetical, well grown wide features indicate good strong dental growth. Wide arches, wide maxilla is kind of clear from how their teeth look, to me atleast
um, take away hair and you're left with the face, isn't it obvious? Like this channel here on YT, I think it was called bald cafe, the guy is giving advice to and commiserating with dudes losing their hair and saying they'll be okay b/c he was, seemingly oblivious to the fact it doesn't hurt him much b/c he has a devastatingly handsome face that 90+% of his viewers won't have lmao
If you’re good looking in the face then hair won’t make a huge difference, but if you mainly look good bcuz of your hair then maybe that’s what makes unattractive bald men
Would you ever look into how autistic/neurodivergent people perceive beauty/aesthetics, rather than how the general population does? I know a few people who fit that category, and they seem to have wildly different preferences from the norm. Or even how bisexual people percieve feature attractiveness 🤔?
why would bisexual person perceive facial attractiveness any differently? They don't. if you're assuming bisexual ppl are more drawn to androgyny, that's not necessarily true at all - most aren't attracted. I've heard of guys who like to cross-dress and stuff *assuming* bi women will be open to that - and being sorely disappointed (maybe some would but most wouldn't be into it same as hetero women). And women are in general drawn to masculinity regardless of sexuality, that's why studs are the romeos of the lesbian world. And lots of hetero (or homo) sexuals are attracted to androgyny, the girls who lust after androgynous kpop boys are straight

I always hated my oval face. People say it’s pretty but it’s not what I want and I couldn’t care less. Beauty standards are so weird, being a woman with a sharp "masculine" jawline is the attractive right now. It is beautiful but wtf 😂
Isn’t the side view more of the “male gaze”? It’s why a lot of renaissance portraits have women painted by the side and not front. My art history professor said women were generally not allowed to be viewed on the front dead on except by their husbands. So portraits were often painted as side profile. I kinda feel the side view is equally important as a stranger will look at you from the side and only from the front when being presented in say a meeting where you have to look at someone face forward. Being Chinrse, I found people generally only found me attractive from the front. From the side I’ve been told I look like a squashed pit bull.
interesting...I looked it up and this is what I found. "the profile, presenting as averted eye and a face available to scrutiny, was suited to the representation of an ordered, chaste and decorous piece of property...." @@els9103 The one on the left, however I do feel there is element of something is weird because it's a warped image. Perhaps if the photo wasnt warped and showed the female with facial enhancements, I would feel much more certain about choosing the left one over the original. Thats a very great quote by the way that you presented! You will see many husband and wife paintings during the renaissance where the wife is in profile view. Something that makes more sense are those locket/necklace portraits with the male on one side and female in the other side, both in profile view, gazing at each other.
@@NavierMasChannel as a white dude, to me is the one on the right, and by a wide margin. I might have an odd taste... 🤔 maybe it's a genetic thing cz that flat face with prognathism is kinda the opposite of mine. there are obviously exceptions of female subjects depicted looking straight into the viewer's eyes. Holbein s portrait of Anne of Cleves is the first one the comes to my mind for some reason.
@@els9103 Anne of Cleves was royalty/high status woman or atleast was going to get married to Henry the 8th. Sorry should have been much more clear that the side profile male gaze portraits were more common with paintings on unknown subjects or for consummated marriage portraits amongst middle class. Royalty and duchesses were often depicted forward facing so that marriage prospects can see their entire face. Interesting you found the flatter profile more attractive. I wonder if you would say the same if the higher profile image wasn’t retouched? To me it gives an uncanny valley feeling (the edited one). If she naturally or surgically elevated her profile, it make look more normal to someone who is used to seeing a projected face

long legs are desirable in both genders, yet women have shorter legs than men - obviously in objective measurement being half a foot shorter on average, but also proportional to total body length, though much female clothes and footwear tries to create an impression of a higher leg-to-body ratio. Somewhat successfully I guess, b/c I've seen people of both sexes who believe it's the opposite contrary to reality - maybe they picture 5'10 supermodel as the average woman (google this image of a CGI model of the average woman proportions next to that of the children's Barbie doll, try and tell me you normally see even short men w/legs that short, it would look weird on a man but for women it's the literal statistical average). Leg-to-body ratio also correlates to race (again regardless of total height) with people of African descent being relatively long-legged, east Asians being short-legged, and Europeans being medium-legged. Makes sense again as leg-length (particularly of the shin bone) is correlated with testosterone, obviously men have more testosterone than women and Africans have more testosterone compared to other ethnic groups (in both men and women, people tend to forget women have testosterone too).
You probably won’t see this, but I had a question about less convex faces on Africans. I am Black and of typical African American descent. I do think my side profile impacts my front. Part of why I think my face is really cute (to me and others mention it) and harmonious is because of my nose and my nose is quite flat. It’s round like an African nose, but less forwardly prominent and less wise. I would say a celebrity that might have a similar nose to me is Min Yoongi of BTS. Are there Africans with noses like mine or is my nose a by product of slavery mix heritage? Is it bad from a beauty standard on a African face? I have been thinking about getting one of your reports, but I am not interested in plastic surgery, so I am not sure if it would harm in trying to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks!
I know that I'm not QOVES, but I've seen a lot of the videos and I think I can answer (and if I'm wrong, hope someone can correct me). He's discussed before that flatter, wider nose are more common among people of African descent, a rounder tip might be the result of a mixed race heritage, but it's also possible likely that you just happen to have inherited a rounder tip from ancestors. But in my own reading I've discovered that black people in the US can be very diverse genetically.

In the same way that braces can move the teeth at any age, pushing up against the hard palate in the mouth's roof (maxilla) can move it over time. Also, the side profile does affect the front profile a fair bit. The development of the cheekbones makes the face look wider and even the distance between the eyes is wider, which makes sense because there a few bones around the eye which include: zygomatic (cheekbone), frontal (forehead), maxila (mouth's roof and center of face). Pushing your mouth's roof (maxilla) with your tongue, which will ofc move the zygomatic bones as well given that they're attached directly through sutures, could very well increase the distance between the eyes. It only takes a few millimetres to drastically change the perception of the face - just think about how much distance braces can move the teeth with some years. Crazy crazy stuff far beyond what cosmetic surgery can do. Push your mouth's roof gently & diligently to beautify! caveat: this is a very uncommon practice and there are known risks like tipped molars, scalloped tongue, asymmetrical development, and god knows what else can happen.
