Sketch To Sea: Moving a Superyacht!

This video gives you an insight into one of the biggest days on our boat journey so far-moving the yacht. The yacht comes out of the shed and is positioned for the mast to be stepped in this episode. I've done the edit in 2 parts so if you just want the quick version I start out with that, but if you hang on after the first outro, you'll get a more in-depth view of what went into this big day. Hope you enjoy!

Hi Brett, thank you for the comment, yes we have often considered this during construction and made a few modifications to the hulls and structure to ensure that we can be hauled out in a variety of ways.

I am a millwright and machinery erector. I have moved 450-ton machines. The problem I see is that these moves should be made at 3 equal points with the same weight load on each of wheels. When you lift on 3 points there is no racking of the structure. A house mover can move a three-story house made of sticks without damage because an old house can't take racking but 3 points provide no stress. Even if the ground was not level there is no stress. The front wheels should be clustered at the center under the bows.

The nets/trampolines are used in a few different ways depending on what is going on. For us, the main use is sail handling when under way, and lounging when the yacht is anchor.

@@sketchtosea3750 I found out also when i was onboard one that in heavy and high waves it a safety factor also when the wind try to grab it on the crest! So the nets have a function! Thank you guys! Have fun with it!
