Yeah! I’ve been working on one for mine! However, I haven’t gotten a real sketch down for all of them individually yet so their look is floating around in my head; I should probably figure out how they look before I draw them. ;) Also, I kept losing motivation. But it’s fun that we’re all doing it!

@@sdab4856 just start one by one! I used to do that too when I want to make OCs but it's only in my head until I wanna draw them 😅. If you already figured out their personality and other stuff that could be your lead to draw them! Example: they have a happy personality, so make them with bright eyes and cheerful outfit. But that's just a suggestion 😊 you could always make a bunch of details to them that's just personal to them to make them special 😁👍 And one more thing.. Can I know what your OC is? I've been making OCs too but sometimes they're all act the same or look the same😅 I just wanna get inspired to make more unique personality for them😁

People like to say the phrase, “Jack of all Trades, Master of none.” As a bad thing. But they forget the rest of the phrase. The full phrase is, “Jack of all trades master of none, though often times better than a master of one.” I love watching your content and the full range of your art. From just a paint job on a Unicorno all the way up to the intricate full re-articulation and sculpting of your dragon series. 😊 I’m so glad I found your channel, it makes me so so happy when I see a new video of your’s come up, or even one of your older ones that I can watch for the 3rd or 4th time. The FULL phrase is "Jack of all trades, master of none, is still better than master of one." People frequently take only part of a phrase and misquote it to give it a different meaning. Ex. "Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back." Edit: turns out someone else already did somethi ngn similar in the comments.

Dollightful, I can not express to u how much I can relate to u about ur out of high school experience since I am a freshman, but I am literally thinking too far into my highschool experience. whenever I stop and think about what I wanna do, I am always worried if I could financially sustain myself and I am always doubtful of my art style. The sole reason I love your channel so much is because you explore so many routes for designs! Yes you have your main concepts or themes like lolita, harajuku (I botched that didn't I?), dragons and pokémon... But you never make the same doll twice! You bring in diversity by experimenting with textures, colours, shapes and methods. Like the lolita dolls... you've made candy, steampunk, pastel and rainbow ones. One who looked like porcelain, another that had African traits. You always mix it up and I love that! Being a master of a technique is a guided cage. While yes, what you do always turns out fantastic, it doesn't scratch the expressive itch.

That jar story reminds me of something - when I was doing a portfolio preparation course, one of the exercises we did was draw the same object 20 times. But the thinking behind it is you draw the first like 5 in ways you normally draw things, and then you get bored, and then you get experimental, so you end up with a really strange series of drawings.

This is a good exercise, but is so restrictive and specific. Presenting any of the experimental drawings on its own drops it out of context and simply renders it as a weird drawing.

It’s interesting to me that you say that, because it’s about restricting one variable - the object - and encouraging people to be creative with all the other variables you have in art. When I eventually applied to college, I had two of the drawings in my portfolio - an attempt at a hyper realistic pencil sketch and a monoprint, both of which were way outside of my comfort zone in drawing. It’s okay if you don’t find such an exercise helpful or interesting, but even now when I’m a little stuck in my practise, I break out the same object and try to find a way to draw it I haven’t before. It’s been like seven years since I first drew it, so this is actually getting harder and harder.

@@paulinedunne3481 I don't disagree with you on that, I was just mirroring my art teachers' comments when it came to including some of the drawings in a portfolio. Most of them saw the more experimental and "artistic" ones as unfinished sketches, and one of them even told me I should have never put exercise pieces in the first place.

You are so right that artists should pursue any and every hobby that piques their interest! When I was younger, I wanted to draw comic books, but I struggled with dynamic poses and visual story telling. I was only good at the part where I drew pretty girls in pretty clothes in stationary poses. I eventually gave up drawing "for realz" and tried a different career path, but eventually life took me to fashion school, and I realized that fashion illustration was exactly my wheelhouse! I had no idea that fashion illustration was even a job or skill back when I thought I was gonna be the next big manga-ka. Just do what you love, and it will all come together 💖

A true artist will never stop exploring, learning and growing. Limiting oneself to one subject alone not only stifles creativity but the mind as well. What you do inspires me and I'm a Great Grandmother 68 years wise. None of my art teachers held out hope for me but I went on to become a professional photographer and portrait artist. My creativity has only been limited by my lack of resources. I've created and sold sewn items as well: dresses, dolls and all manner of children's clothes. Keep creating. You do it so well!

Hearing you say all that about it being okay to have no clear direction in mind for art is really reassuring to me. I’m in my second year at an art school right now and while a lot of my classmates are really dead set on what they want to do I feel like I’m treading behind because there are so many things I’m curious about that it’s hard for me to pick a field to focus on. Hearing your words and perspective on this means a lot to me 💖

Speaking about your college experience was actually super insightful. I’m in my freshmen year of art college and I’m already in a major and all that And doll art and related stuff is a passion for me but having to narrow down what I wanted to do was such a struggle. I love animation, character design, painting, sculpting, all that jazz. I ended up going into product design so I can go into toy design but that was probably the hardest decision ever 😂😅

I identify deeply with the “jack of all trades” philosophy. I enjoy learning, just googling something I know nothing about and going on a Wikipedia binge for HOURS but I’m by no means a “master” of anyone topic. I enjoy having a dinner-party level understanding about almost anything and staying broad like that, bonus is I am THE person for trivia games. Having “an approximate knowledge of many things” makes me happy, I don’t see the need to specialize.

Watching you draw is so relaxing, even though speedpaints often make me feel bad for not painting that much anymore. I love your style and how you manage to put so many characters into one picture without it looking just too crowded, if that makes sense? They all look so cute and happy together!

"A Jack of all trades, master of none, is oftentimes better than master of one" That's the full saying, and I totally agree, learning about all different mediums, techniques and styles allows you to fill your tool box with so much handy knowledge!

I agree that you should be allowed to explore a lot and make art in all of the different ways you want but funnily enough I do agree that it’s good to have direction but that’s only if you want a specific job or so I personally go with “whatever works for you!” Which might be why I do so much in art XD

People always forget that the full saying goes: “Jack of all trades, master of none, but often better than master of one”. I love that you do such diverse artwork and try new things.
