Sharing my work in my art journals from the past week.
4 mixed media paintings in my Art Creations sketchbook where I’m trying to explore my acrylic art and edit my style - new ways of doing faces and looser, more abstract backgrounds. Working with a growth mindset and seeking progress and development over perfection. Trying to convey and insouciant energy in my work.
Also trying out a new way of doing watercolors - abstract random backgrounds with line work on top. Let me know if you’d like a tutorial!
Materials mentioned: kuretake gansai tambi watercolors, acrylic paint, caran d’ache neocolor ii pastel crayons, derwent drawing pencils, Holbein colored pencils, prismacolor

Yes please, a tutorial would be great! Thanks! I’m like you, I work on tons of sketchbooks at once coz each one has a specific purpose. Food illustration, urban sketching, art journal, on-the-go, pen sketches (no pencil) to force me to accept imperfections and keep going….. and more. I also have trouble being “loose” with paintings coz I started out doing photorealistic drawings. I think what ‘cured me’ was when I forced myself to do pen only sketches, and to use cheaper sketchbooks so that I wouldn’t be so precious with them. I’m afraid to use my 100% cotton papers, I wonder if they’ll ever get used!

I will definitely put one together in the near future! And I have the same situation with my sketchbooks, where all of them are for different purposes and so I have like 10 of them underway at the same time lol I’m pretty amazed with myself whenever I finish one. And that’s a good idea! I might try the pen only idea. No erasing. I also realized I tend to render the details to a very finished look whereas what I want is a more messy look, so I think I know what I need to work on. And I too have a huge collection of 100% cotton paper and I’ve literally never tried painting on one 🫣 I might have to do a video with first impressions lol

I think I’ll make a few more just to see what different things I can do with it and then will definitely make a tutorial. Thank you for the feedback!

I too have the starts but never finishes sketchbooks trait 😍 why would I when there are so many awesome options out there? 😂 I loved the loose florals and would love to see a process video 😍

I know, I just want to try them all! I can’t have them just waiting around blank lol Ans I’m going to go ahead and work on some variations for the florals and experiment a little and do a tutorial soon, thank you for the feedback!
