You're so welcome. I know the feeling of coming up short even before beginning. I would highly suggest putting one together for yourself that has just a small number of pages in it. It definitely helps and feels encouraging - because you can visibly see yourself making progress filling up the pages!

Thank you so much! And I don't have one right now as I just learned/adapted it from a youtube video that taught this stitch (a saddle stitch) though I've learned a bit from making my own. Making my own has definitely helped me the past two years! And that is not a silly question at all - in fact I think it's rather insightful because I do think about it before I start! The number of pages is simply decided by how thick I want the sketchbook to be/how many pages I want. Last year I made it 6 spreads because Artful August was 23 days and I intended it to be a page a day. This year I had this sketchbook already and decided to use it for Artful August because it had only 16 pages (4 spreads) and I knew I wanted it to be "easy" to complete. I counted it out and this year there was also 23 weekdays in August. Taking out 2 pages for the cover and (possibly 2 for the inside covers) there's 12 left which leaves room for 24 half-page entries. With this flexibility I knew I'd likely be doing mostly half page entries and maybe a few full pages (depending if I wanted to incorporate the covers.) What happened was that I skipped a few days and "made up" for them using full size pages. And then there were some days I just felt lke taking up a full page. As I went I would continue calculating what was left and think about it! I almost even counted the cover as my last day - but ultimately decided not to do that (and thus ended up with 2 half pages on the back cover.)
