The beginning of the lap with all those S2000s felt like an old school arcade game where the AI only has one type of car and you keep passing the same thing over and over.
@@osxyosemite7519 realistically there are maybe 5 camdidate cars behind, so not the greatest selection. Anyway, this is a nicr fun lap but not much basis for making statements on 'faster/slower then all/none cars'. And what about the driver that drive the cars?
Toyota here with a roots supercharger, lotus hasn't really touched an engine of their own in decades. This car was available with 2 options, this, a rather nice Toyota V6 with I believe, an Eldebrock supercharger, or, a Mercedes AMG 2L 4cyl turbo, that one that's now powering a bunch of their lineup, from the 2019+ A45 AMG to the latest C63S AMG.... which IMO, would've been the better option to put in the middle of this Lotus for the reduced weight, the ease of making more power if you wanted it, and seeing that for most of Lotus' existence, they used great 4cyl engines to keep everything as light as possible.... only problem...Lotus will only allow you to have a manual with the V6 and you're forced to use an 8spd DCT and there's no regular manual available, which also means, that large weight reduction from the V6 roots supercharger to the turbo 4cyl ends up being almost completely negated by the bulk of the damn 8spd DCT and the 4cyl only weighs like 60-70lbs less than the V6 with a whole damn roots supercharger on top of it....most ridiculous decision ever IMO
The stock emira is perfect for British B roads (very bumpy). I can see why it would be too soft for the Nurburgring but here in the UK I’d rather have soft 😊
I have the Sport chassis and it's definitely stiffer than the one Misha originally tested, in fact it's wonderfully well-controlled in weight transitions in contexts where the Touring chassis is a bit vague, but it is still soft over major bumps. It's a middle ground that works well on this car without the added expense of Ohlins, Penske, Nitron, etc.
Factory 'Touring' suspension is perfect for British B roads and grand touring (big shock), Factory 'Sport' suspension is perfect for casual track driving, whereas modified suspension like what this Komo-tec car has is perfect for more serious track use/synergising with other mods - i.e. you need more body control to handle increased aero and stickier aftermarket tyres.
@@MacellaioNero I would say the Sport is perfect for road as well, and extremely capable, if you have reasonable pavement in your part of the world and can accept a sports car driving like a sports car. It's still softer over bumps than most "sporty" cars on the road.
Was this Saturday the 4th? Driving up the road to the car park just as the weather turned we could see the pollen blowing off the trees in the valley like they were on fire. We've never seen anything like it. It was like fog rolling in, but pollen :o Then the monsoon came and it was quattro time :D
If the weather is just right the pollen making that "smoke cloud" effect as it comes off the trees is quite a sight. I believe it needs to be warm and dry with VERY calm wind, then when wind finally picks up it just explodes out of the trees. I've seen it almost blocking the view of the tree once! It was insane! When you live near the pine trees it gets all over the inside of your house (or car!) too if you have the windows open.
@@volvo09 Yeah it had been dry, calm and hot all week, and I was having to dust the pollen off the car several times a day just to be able to see out of the windscreen! Then the weather turned suddenly on Saturday afternoon to cold and windy, and made that amazing effect.
Misha, I've watched a lot of your videos. The most important thing is that they relax and excite me at the same time. This is due to your driving skills and your character, both combined. Of course I am subscribed and each video is a gift. No more words. Thank you. Greetings.
Honestly suprised sometimes by the amount of rental cars actually trying to let cars pass by on the right. I though most rentals cars had a safety briefing with one of the things stating no overtaking on the right? Do love me some lotus cars though especially with the tasty V6 sound❤
@@SledgeHammerMindOpener i know, touristenfahrten rules state no overtaking on the right side. During the touristenfahrten the Nordschleife is seen as a toll road with "no speed" limit. I get why people automatically think "Oh I'm on the racetrack so I will follow common trackday rules, stay off the 'racing line' and let faster people pass right or left." TF sessions for me are all about fun and the experience, if I want to race or time my session I'll book a trackday on the Schleife.
Misha, looking for some track knowledge here. Any reason for the slow upshifts? You spend a lot of time with your foot on the clutch, I assume either for mechanical sympathy since these aren’t your cars, or that’s just the cadence you’ve built up. Just wondering why because people can shift faster though you clearly can as well with how quick you can heel-toe
Not trying to be obnoxious but I doubt the car has 475 hp... Seems more like stock... The handling seems really good but I would love to see a proper dry lap! ;)
Two things to consider are that you'll lose HP in the higher elevation and that wing is creating extra drag. In the lower-speed sections it looked like it was not far from that figure.
Hey Misha, was the ride height on this Emira better relative to the last Emira. I remember you noted that the Turing Emira had a high ride height but considering this KomoTec Emira has different suspension I was curious if your thoughts.
I believe the 475 but 200kph tiergarten seems like the gearing doesn't help it, not that lotus was ever about that anyways... Amazing car the emira is and glad they gave lotus a second life.
It has a similar gearing to a 718 GT4 with PDK and the GT4 with less power (supposelly) gets to the compression with a faster speed... But it's also not fair to compare a PDK with manual gearbox :p
Wise move to take it slow - rain and Cup2's don't mix! What surprised me is that Komo-tec kept the redline at 6800... didn't the Evora have a higher redline with the same engine? I thought it was just de-tuned on the Emira for the newer emissions standards...
9:35 reminds me of when top gear discussed a German mate of theirs and asked what would be the punishment if they drove without a licence “it is impossible, not allowed” “yes but what would happen” “no, ze driving without ze licence is impossible” you may not be German but they are certainly rubbing off on you Misha😅also….cool car😎
Not gonna lie, your videos are more exiting with drama. Especially since normally your so polite until someone gets in your way...oh and I didn't know this was going to be a celebraty edition video...tell Bradly Cooper I said Hi 😆😁🙀
When i see that garage in the background i can‘t stop thinking about Philipp! Where the hell is the guy now? He really helped EVERYBODY when they were in need
If you've driven one you realize quick the chassis is world's better than the drivetrain. Very hard to upset a car with so much mechanical grip and so little power
@@TheTechnoaddict I own an Evora Gt which weighs less and has komotec 475. It's the slowest 475 youll ever experience I promise you that. The area under the curve is not great and the gearing is absolutely horrible. It has longer gearing than Porsche GT4 but with lower red line. My friends GT4 that has 380hp is faster in a straight line by a good amount.
So a bit of rain is worse than a lot of rain i heard that from one very fast biker in hayabusa few days ago in a thunderstorm on gas station in Germany.
Definitely look forward to a stock /tuned I4 Emira video later in year. Absolutely will be faster then V6 due to gearing, DCT and lower center of mass on I4. Already been shown to out perform V6 on track for any keyboard warriors ready to cry in comments.
I am also eagerly awaiting that. I absolutely love the looks of the emira and really want one but I cannot help but notice that even this tuned emira still feels sluggish somehow, which is a pity. I guess you’re right with the gearing. Let’s see what the i4 does but to be honest my hopes aren’t that high. It’s almost the same weight too.
