The first thing I did to my engine stand was weld up all of the tubes and add a 45* brace from the upright out to the front leg. Before I did that it was scary with an engine on it!

A friend had what looked to be a heavy duty 4 wheel engine stand. We mounted a Ford 360 FE engine on it. He lets the engine hoist down. The upright started bending forward. 🤣🤣 He had to pick the engine back up and weld a brace from the upright to the base. The 360 was more than the "heavy duty" Chinesium could handle.

Thanks for the video Jimmy! I'm back on the '58 Holden today, found 3 very stuck valves and 3 very bent pushrods. The rockers appear to have been "refaced" on a bench grinder at some point FFS. I'll pull the cylinder head tomorrow and we'll get some prices for reconditioning and hardened valve seat install. The bores look good with the endoscope but I'll know for sure soon.

1,000 lbs hmmm that’s a lot for that stand.. would definitely be flexing try to move it around or work on the engine. I remember doing the engine on my 66 Continental.. the stand was a 4 wheel stand.. and that was even jiggly. Nice job on the stand !
