I'm really interested what you'll say about "Cakra Khan - Tennessee Whiskey (Chris Stapleton Cover) Live Session" :) And if you like him (very talented guy from Indonesia!) you should hear his cover of "Take Me To the Church" next... please ❤️
@Maggie Reneé - People in the chat are straight up LYING to you... He didn´t lost his voice after singing like this (he never, NEVER could sing like this live, not even back in the 80s). And there are HUNDREDS of singers who have been singing like this for DECADES, who haven´t lost their voice (a few examples: Ronnie James Dio, Jorn Lande, Russell Allen, Anders Zackrisson...) Girl... Every time Im more and more certain that you have NO IDEA about singing.
I’ve seen him recently and he still hits those notes. He was trained by one of the best and learned how to sing like that without destroying his voice.
Skid Row is not Glam Metal. The band never wore makeup or androgynous clothes like the band Poison or Motley Crue. Skid Row is just a straight up hard rock band like Aerosmith or Tesla.
Exactly! Their debut album can be described as hard rock/sleaze while their second album was heavy metal. And definitely NOT hair metal (I still want to punch everyone who mentions that stupid term in the same breath as Skid Row ;-p )!
Well said! I think a lot of people confuse the two because they came out around the same time as a lot of glam bands. But, their music is hard rock. I think a lot of people thought that Sebastian Bach was too pretty...I mean the man was gorgeous...and no "pretty boy" could sing hard rock so they have to be a "glam band". It always rubbed me the wrong way.
Seeing her behaviour during the video was like she was watching a comic video. In my opinion, that song deserves respect for its story of friendship and brotherhood, and the sadness of seeing a friend going deep into a drug addiction.
This was bad, and I've generally liked her reactions. This was more of a "I have to do it" reaction. Add the comments from the channel on posts are all "thanks, have you heard the "X" one I did?" advertising. Sad really.
The kids who are saying that he fried his voice in the livestream chat though :D Of course he didn't, he can still sing, just... voice ages and he ages and he doesn't go for the high notes anymore. Any good ol' rockstar doesn't do it nowadays anymore. They had their fun back then in the most amazing decade of music history.
I'm sure all the hard liquor, smoking and drugs didn't help. Not to mention, I'm fairly certain he didn't attempt to take care of his voice in the same manner as someone like Pavarotti might have. These are guys who get big at a young age, when we all think we're invincible, and he probably never even considered his voice would burn out by his mid-30s.
Actually, he's still going strong, and just released 2 songs off his new (solo) album.. He still hits every high note and then some, and sounds as good as ever.. Legend~🎉
He was in Broadway's Jekyll and Hyde and Rocky Horror, as well as the touring version of Jesus Christ Superstar. Great singer and takes care of his chords. Haha
There is a video on YT Sebastian Bach - This is the Moment ( from Jekyll and Hyde) It's him on Good Morning America singing Live in Time Square I Absolutely Luv It..
When he was on masked singer or whatever the show was he did Freddie Mercury and destroyed it, it was no surprise really, Sebastian has an incredible voice
@@LightfingersKlepto The show was from the early 2000's Called...Sing Your Face Off He impersonated.. Adam Levine Lady Gaga Willie Nelson Freddy Mercury He's amazing.. But I'm old and have loved him since 88' So I'm biased.. LOL!!
Sebastian trained under Adriana Caselotti and was one of rock's best vocalist. years of drug abuse and constant touring with ZERO lipsync More than anything else, contributed to his lost of range....
"In A Darkened Room" is another great song from Skid Row. Where Sebastian's vocal range is again on display. Saw Skid Row live back in '89 when they opened up for Aerosmith. Sebastian and the band were on fire! He sounded GREAT live back then. He still tours now, solo. Some of my friends who caught him in 2019, said he still sounds pretty good, but you can tell he has lost some range. Cigarettes, booze and drugs took their toll I reckon. But his hair is still pretty awesome! Lol. Great reaction! \m/

These performances were a gift, it may have hurt his voice for the future but the art transcends and is an emotional space reserved for the brave and the legendary. I thank him for showing us what the human voice is capable of providing to our life experience. If you eyes are not filled with tears .......

He's still performing anyways, he on tour rn for 30 yrs anniversary for slave to the grind, although I think the invention of autotune may have revived his career...lol
@@DS-mm6fh Naw , he doesn't use autotune , he constantly accuses current rock bands of using that and accuses them of lip syncing at concerts ( on Twitter ) . Still a great singer but older age has turn him into a d-bag
Spending your whole career without autotune, blowing your vocals out to give us all his fantastic singing voice and songs for us, I'd say he has earned that autotune to sing now lol. I remember his voice of youth and thats all i need. I will never discredit this man for little help in singing those same songs today. He blew it out and gave it his all then, so I'd say his throat needs and deserve the retirement. SB is one of the goat's
Sebastian Bach the singer of this band Skid Row after he left Skid Row in 1996 He got offers to sing on Broadway!! Like New York Broadway the real deal! He starred and sand lead on Broadway for Jekyll and Hyde, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar to name a few and he shocked the Broadway community!! He was so good so powerful , his performances were better than anyone that had played these iconic roles prior!!! You should definitely check him out!!! The best male vocalist of all time that has been in a metal, thrash, rock, funk, jazz, hip hop, polka, death metal, alternative, accapella, opera, Latin, blues, R&B, Soul, Pop, Grind core, Brazilian murdercore, easy listening, soft rock, disco, country, electronic, trip-hop, Industrial, stoner rock, orchestral, movie scores, literally any genre of music this man has done! He has sang with Pavarotti for f*cks sake! He did the entire film score for "Iam Legend" starring Will Smith every single Zombie scream, cry, group roaring etc.... this man did them all with his voice! He has so many bands and projects his most well known would be the multi platinum selling Faith No More and his very first band Mr.Bungle a few other bands he has are Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, Fantomas to name a few... This man this most inspiring musician , vocalist and visionary is the one and only MIKE PATTON!!! You should honestly just do every video on reactions to his exquisite works!!!
Sebastián still sings very well, he doesn't have the same stamina in his youth. His voice has darkened some, but that is normal for his age now. He is a trained singer in opera. Great reaction.
I was always a Skid Row fan. (At one point I even had the glam hair). This is a great song but I think my favorite is still "18 and Life". As always my queen, you are a Superstar.

I can’t take your reactions seriously because you treat artists less seriously than they deserve. This is a prime example. This singer is an all timer for this genre.
@@matthewmatt5285 well said. How do you find the other skid row singer lzzy hale? To me neither Erik or lzzy hold a candle to even Bach of 10 years ago let alone prime bach
I would love to see you react to Queensryche, “Take Hold of the Flame” and “Silent Lucidity.” Geoff Tate is an amazing singer with an amazing range I think that you will be impressed with. One of the 100 greatest vocalists of all time. They are a fantastic progressive rock band.
I don’t believe in love, Suite Sister Mary or Another Rainy night without you are better showcases for Geoff’s voice… Chris Degarmo’s backing and harmonies as well
You are both wrong. Those songs are all epic and Take Hold of the Flame live is amazing, but Queen of the Reich was his largest vocal stretch. Unfortunately the song is awful as far as the music is besides his voice and how bad the video was that makes it so good.

If you watch the movie “Rock of Ages” Sebastian is one of the people in the crowd near the end singing “We’re not gonna take it/We built this city” mash up
If you liked this? Try Skid Row's cover of "Little Wing" by Jimmy Hendrix. The video is shot live, as in live band performance n live vocal performance. No backing tracks ALL Sebastian and band. And ALL AWESOME!
Thanks for doing this Maggie! One of my favorites. Love Skid Row! Saw Sebastian decades ago on Broadway doing Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. I think doing Steelheart’s “Never Let You Go” is only fitting after this.
You should react to Deep Purple "Mistreated" or "Burn Live 1974"( with 2 great singers Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale) "Burn" is one of my favorite Ritchie Blackmore riffs. "Mistreated" is a damn good heavy bluesy number with Coverdale highlighting the vocals and Blackmore slaying a heavy riff. I love both songs.

I know what you are saying about the improper vocal fry because we saw it with Corey from Slipknot. His scream lasted little more than 2 years when they snapped on stage while on the IOWA tour, but Sebastian kept it going for almost 3 decades (2017) before he ended up needing a hernia operation since he was (as the doctor put it) "literally screaming his guts out". After that happened, he was never able to get the same range that he had before but it had little to do with his vocal cords and yes, he still sings quite well just not with the same sound.
he did a show in 2021 and his pipes of gold were still hitting it hard... he is naturally gifted . his fry, screams, grunts, growls are as strong as ever. lzzy hale also sang with him on multiple occasions as he is one of her biggest idols and t his album and songs were 1989 not 1991
Saw him in 2022 performing the entire Slave to the Grind album plus all the hits from the first album and he sounded amazing. You can tell he takes care of his voice and he's lost weight and is in shape. He's also in his 50s but he didn't embarrass himself like others I've heard. My sister, who is not a big skid row fan, came with me and she was impressed by him.
His vocal chords are 53 years old, and still sound pretty dang good :D Skid Row still tours and you can videos of them. This info comes from a 51 year old fan who has mad respect for him/them.

Sebastian Bach still tours and I would check out one of his recent performances of this song. He will sing head voice with just as much vocal fry as he can muster (and it still sounds great!), but when he sings in his chest range it sounds really well supported, in some ways better than it did back in the day. Lzzy Hale also claims that the technique behind her screams and vocal fry on high notes is such that it does not hurt her voice. Check out anything live from Halestorm, including a cover of Slave To The Grind (…maybe even the version with Sebastian Bach!), and see what you think.
I just want to stop for a minute and give you my respect and appreciation for how much time you put into your reaction videos. So many reactors just sit in their cars or bedroom with a total mess in the background and here you have nice back drop pictures. I really like how you add the emoji’s and gifs and cartoons to illustrate your emotions during that part of the song. And then on top of all that you add informational notes about the band/artist. I just want to give you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for your channel. GREAT WORK !!
My 2 favorite songs by them are "I REMEMBER YOU" and "18 and LIFE" Also check "SLAUGHTER- FLY TO THE ANGELS" Mark Slaughters vocals will amaze you just as much if not more! Absolutely amazing!!! Apparently he came off tour and went looking for an old gf, just to find out that she had passed away, and the funeral was the next day. So he wrote fly to the angels! You'll love it. I promise
Skid Row was a hard rock band and/or heavy metal. I don't know why people put them in glam metal genre. They never fit into it. They didn't wear makeup. They also never tried to fit into that genre with their music or look. They wrote ballads, sure, but so did Guns N Roses and no one calls them glam.
Skid row was pure glam. The glam bands on their brink of extinction sounded heavier I usually mean the later albums 1991 -1994. Check out Wingers album "PULL" which is very heavy and the heavy stuff these glam bands did definitely had their distinct tone and flavour rather than thrash which has a very distinct flavour. Also listen Smoke the sky by motley crue very heavy but more groove than thrash.
These guys toured with Bon Jovi in the 80s. Imagine Sebastian Bach hitting that note thousands of times yearly. That's the discipline nobody ever talks about. His voice was incredibly powerful and he's lived the rocker lifestyle and then some.

As someone commented below, I must agree -- Steelheart's "Never Let You Go" is amazing, and the hideous accident that their lead singer had onstage, and then healed from is a huge testament to his strength and determination. If I could spell Mili's last name I would give him credit. They would be great to review!
I'd forgotten him. When glam and hair metal were all the rage on MTV, I had a tiny bit of a crush on Skid Row. Maggie I'm concerned you're going to half into an aria and bust out in a snarly metallic scream.
Sebastian has a new album coming out. He can still sing very well his voice is amazing been listening since the beginning. He takes care of his voice. He’s trained talks about it, was trained as a kid, then as an adult. Was on broadway as well. :))

Question: is it worthwhile to destroy the very tool you use to do your art in the process of doing it? Is it better to have a piece of art that endure time or to have the capacity to do art but maybe in a way that wouldn't have the same impact (in the case you can't do both)?
It is a very personal song, with powerful emotions behind it. I allow him go full throttle here. Other songs he is more tamed - but still with powerful tonal and dynamic ranges
To answer your question about if Bas still sounds good. HELL YEAH HE DOES! I saw him last year with his solo band, and the man still has it and then some! I am absolutely impressed how good he sounded.
I heard you read a comment that someone said Bas can't sing quite like this anymore, but I disagree. A live performance less than a year ago had him hitting all the notes. He sounded flawless. Maybe it was just a good night for him?

Sebastian Bach is one of the best rock singers. In my opinion. I recommend reacting to "Slaves and bulldozers" by Soundgarden and "She's gone" + "I'll never let you go" by Steelheart.
I don’t really NEED to say anything about his legendary voice that speaks for itself, but I 🥰 the look on your face at that moment right before the guitar solo where he crossed over to the passagio so smoothly. Which I myself, also love. His resonance is Mariah level, gone Metal. ( 🎶 Errrrrrr *Crossing* 🎶 *Ohhhhhh* no-no-no na-noooo 🎵 )

seen it love love love it. Sebastian was the best 'screamer' in the 80s/90s. Beautiful voice, hair, and holy crap sexy to boot. He was the total package. There are live concerts that just floor you when he sings. There's one performance the sound system kicks off and he just starts singing and belting those notes. It's a shame he damaged his voice but he still sings so we still have that. Another glam metal you should hear is Cinderella. The lead singer had an amazing voice but those growls and screams cost him 7 throat surgeries and a paralyzed left vocal cord. Check out their song Nobody's Fool
2 year update. Izzy Hale just signed to sing for them for a few shows. They were the harder edge of glam metal. You were still cool if you wore their shirt. More than say Winger or Warrant.
This is not "glam metal" ...they were part of the "hair band" era, right before grunge. just saw Sebastian Bach in concert this last Saturday night here in Denver, and the man can still SING!!!!! 53 years old, and he is still kickin A** !!!!!!
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you on my Twitch live stream in a few hours today and watch me react LIVE to great artists: www.twitch.tv/MaggieReneeMusic?
Lol he still sings like this perfectly fine - not sure what your friend was talking about. He's been trained to do this sort of vocal fry/distortion on purpose, and in a healthy way. He hasn't lost any vocal abilities, actually. Great video! You can obviously sing really well too!
Sht it just came to me... I've been a fan since their first album release, but never noticed or became aware that Sebastian is the male version of Janis Joplin cause of the way he uses his voice... You pointing out how his hurting his voice made the parallel to me.
