First Time Hearing Skid Row - Wasted Time REACTION  

In that era Sebastian Bach's voice was almost supernatural.

For me ... one of the BEST Hard Rock/Metal Singers of all time !!!

'Quicksand Jesus' is probably the greatest vocal Sebastian Bach ever recorded with Skid Row.

For lyrical context, the horse part has another meaning as well. In the 90s, "horse" was slang for heroin, so when the "horse stampedes and rages", he means that the heroin addiction is out of control.

This album is a masterpiece

Watching this video makes me realise just how lucky I was to be a teenager when songs like this were being released. There was some really powerful music being written back in those days. Watching someone else's first time listening to it brings me right back to how it was for me. Wonderful times musically! I'd my own battle with alcohol over the intervening years and it nearly killed me but I was very fortunate to seek help. I've been sober now 13 years and getting to watch all these videos again is very poignant for me. There's one song I'd love to see you react to and that's another Skid Row song called 'I Remember You'. Thanks for this.

Skid Row came in the tail of the 80's hair metal days. They were extremely under appreciated. They were one of the best metal bands. In the 80s I chose to walk away from drugs before I became addicted. I was able to reach out and help friends walk away. But. Some i had to walk away from.

This song is a great example of one of the things I love about Metal; they're willing to tackle the difficult topics in their lyrics. 🔥🤘🏽🔥🤘🏽

He also studied acting, which is why he knows how to handle his facial expressions and body language, which added to his training as a classical singer, gives him that stage power.

His voice and emotion in every Skid Row song is unmatched. The pain expressed in this vocal recording in particular is heartbreaking. Some of the other songs he sings his voice is angelic. He is still the most amazing vocalist I have ever heard. He doesn't seem to use any particular technique or vocal technique, just a direct challenge with his natural voice, which is truly the cry of his soul.

This era produced the best music. Style, substance, sound, feeling. Stadiums filled with energy. Nothing today compares.

One of the greatest rock voices of all time in my opinion. High falsetto, holds his notes, breathing tone and vibrato. It's so emotional.

Hard to believe I was in my thirties back then. Still rockin today. Fabulous music and vocals. Forget the word genre and just rock your socks off.

I met Sebastian after a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar years ago. I was waiting for him outside the stage door in the snow with maybe a dozen other people. Sebastian seen us out there and opened the door and said "you guys must be freezing your ass off, come on in!" He was by far the coolest rock star I've ever met.

Other then loosing a child, there is no greater pain than watching someone you love go through addiction. The quilt you feel, finding them as they OD, holding in your arms as they take there last breath... I miss my friend....

Bet you never thought that rock and roll would have pulled that much emotion out of you. This song hits home for me as well,As I'm sure it does with a lot of people who are dealing with addiction or a family member or a friend dealing with addiction. chokes me up every time I hear it.

In case nobody else has said it, Sebastian is not the current lead singer of Skid Row (and hasn’t been since 1996). But he was the one who brought them to stardom (and is awesome). Skid Row’s numerous subsequent singers haven’t come close to matching him…until Erik Grönwall, who joined this year. Erik sounds very similar to a young Sebastian and although Sebastian will always be Sebastian and ‘the voice of Skid Row’ in many people’s eyes, Erik does a great job. Skid Row’s new album with him is an excellent return to form too.

I'm not from US but I always hear this song since I was 5 years old (circa 92-93), and actually was one of my favorite songs from hair metal - heavy metal - progressive metal genres.

This is the most difficult and poetically heart felt vocal laid to tape in the 90s. Sebastian absolutely brought his vocals to a new level on Slave but this song in particular had myself being a rock singer at that time was going well he just ruined that shit for everyone of us. Its all but impossible to do this live w any seriousness.

No one could match Sebastian’s voice… take a listen to 18&life and i remembre you… you’re gonna love!

Horse is what Heroin was called back in the day. Smack, horse, dope, Black tar, China White… all nicknames for heroin.

That’s incredible to me. Because I always thought the lyrics addressed the darkness of the drug culture in general. I never knew the words were written for a specific individual who struggled with addiction. It gives this song a whole new level, angle and meaning for me.

The song is about Steven Adler and his fight , Sab has the best voice , I met him at the Skid Row concert at Festival Hall Brisbane Australia in 1990 , went back stage , then partyed at Park Royal hotel Brisbane till 7 am, I had GNR tattoo , Sab and Scotty Hill loved , they the best all time , I love to relive that nite , girls , drugs , alcohol and my hero's Sab . 80s rock just happened to come out in 91.

Skidrow got overshadowed by the ridiculous amount of talent we had in the rock scene in the early 90’s. I mean, just look how many other legendary albums were released in ‘91.

The line "the horse stampedes and rages" - heroin is referred to as "the white horse" - in no small part from the 1970's Crosby Stills and Nash song "Horse with no name" - quoting - "I was riding in the desert on a horse with no name - in the desert you can't remember your name".........same sentiment only expressed in a '70's-era way. This song is definitely moving and very heartfelt - the reason it stops people in their tracks - it's hard ugly truth and it is timeless......and oh so well done. When I first heard this song I had no clue what Sebastian was singing about......I was just into the music.......very young and naive......at the time I barely followed lyrics.......I was all about the guitar and drums. Human weakness will always be around.....has always been around........it's why the strong stand out so much !

One of the best Metal bands from the 80's/90's ever . If no one mentioned it...Bach took operatic vocal training as a kid in Ontario (he has overdone it a bit...his voice is a little rough now days). His parents knew he was something special. As a person that was raised by someone who suffered from addiction, this song gives me goosebumps every time.
