Great video and skiing. There is a lot of amazing skiing at Snowbird but going too far off the beaten path (if you don't know where you are going) can be daunting. There are places there where it is easy to get cliffed out, seriously steep traverses across cliff areas, and super steep and narrow places. Snowbird is awesome.
Brad, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to watch and even more for commenting. I 100% agree with you. Snowbird shouldn't be taken lightly. Its definitely a place for some extreme runs that deserve respect. With that said, I cant wait to come back and learn even more about this amazing resort!
Thanks Cory for a great valentine to my home resort. I've been skiing Snowbird since the mid 80's and this year is the best year I can remember. It's been dumping feet of light fluffy powder since the beginning of December! It turns out you can actually get tired of skiing powder:) I hope you get a chance to head out this way before the season ends. Pretty sure we'll be skiing Little Cloud till June!
I love the positive vibes and the love for this resort. I was just out there a few weeks ago and am actually heading back tomorrow for 4 more days of Utah turns. I love little cloud. That whole area off the west side of the resort is so great. Hope I get some good laps in mineral this weekend! Cheers!
Well done video ... driving up from Flagstaff to Snowbird in 3 weeks and the info you've provided is incredibly helpful. Thanks very much for the share.
I cant say thank you enough! Absolutely love the comment and even more stoked that you get to experience this magical resort in a few weeks. Cheers and happy turns!
Snowmass has been my home mountain since 95 but I have about 10 plus days at Snowbird in the last few years. The more I go the more there is to discover. The long sustained steep trails are what Im learning to love. Hope I can make it this year.
JE I'm right there with you! I cant wait does this season to kick off. I hope to see you at Snowmass. Will definitely be hitting up a few different mountains in Aspen now that I upgraded my Ikon Pass. Fresh turns ahead my guy!
J, they really did! Wish this season was better in the local areas but it's always fun to road trip and find some fresh turns. Thanks for always commenting and watching my friend!
Nice video of my home resort! too bad this old man is just a few years older than the resort of Snowbird itself. That being said I did a lot of growing up at Snowbird and Alta in my teens and twenties, given my parent's home was virtually at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Haven't been therein years given my age and lack of skiing due to family concerns, but hey, still love it when you young 'uns can come and love the resorts! Great job!!!
Timothy, this is really one of the best comments I could have received. It's so humbling to have someone as experienced in these mountains as yourself watch the next generations come up and truly appreciate the skiing as you have. You may think of yourself as old but all it means to me is you are a person who has had an amazing life and enjoyed these resorts to the fullest. Age truly is just a number. I hope to make more memorable videos for you to enjoy for years to come. Thank you again for watching! :)
Nice video. There is so much more terrain there that is accessible by very short hikes and is still inbounds but with out some local input most people miss it
Couldnt agree more! Maybe next time I'm out that way you can show me some fun runs and more off piste skiing than I had. Either way, I hadn't had that much fun on a mountain since skiing Chamonix.
4:31 lmao that line is crazy, you guys need one of those highspeed 8 seater chairlifts for better capacity (see those pop up everywhere in busy big alpine resorts the scenery at that ski area is amazing, reminds me almost of the alps
Cam! Thank you so much my dude! If you go in February it should be at least 85% open for all trails. Sometimes the bowls won't open till late feb or even early March. Had some of that trouble last year in Colorado where some of the big stuff wasn't open until way late. Hope we get the snow but otherwise so much to ride at snowbird you'll have a freaking blast! The bird is king!
@@CoryGrasser well that’s promising to hear and yeah last winter was pretty brutal up in my area (NH) went to big sky early feb and it was pretty bare too praying for a dump have a good season !
@@camski13 I heard of a couple buddies in late Feb go to Big Sky and although they loved it had the same results. I went to Jackson late February and had the same results. Love that mountain and the views but sadly it was one of the iciest skiing weekends of my life. Let's hope for a better season because i'm pumped to get back on the slopes and make some more videos for people like you to enjoy them. Hope to catch you at the bird this year!
You stayed out of Creekside and hardly got EAST!! Ya...you might have put some turns into Mineral...but did you see the TUNNEL? Take the East side Perivian (P-dog) Lift to the tunnel and enter Mineral in a whole new way. Yeah...I called it P-DOG! What can I say...I'm OLD SCHOOL!! Was a lifty there in '07-'08 KOOL-AID Living the DREAM!
If you get a pow day i'd be so jealous! There is nothing like it. I have a gopro hero 8 black. Works pretty well besides the batteries getting cold very quickly. Hope this helps! Best wishes on your upcoming trip!
@@Noname-ic3su You wouldn't regret it. Snowbird is an amazing resort and reminded me a lot of skiing in Chamonix a few years back. Either way, you're going to have an awesome time in Utah!
I want to come snowboard this resort later this year. I personally am a fan of tighter blues and blacks more tree and glade oriented stuff. My dad really loves blue groomers and from most accounts there isn't much groomers. Is there enough to satisfy an average skier?
@@CoryGrasser we are used to smaller mountains and are mainly going to snowbird because of the accessibility to slc. As long as there is like 5 proper groomers he will be good. He does like rowdier terrain too he’s just not as into that stuff
@@deepsouthmtb2531 The good thing about Snowbird is the groomed runs on the east side are really steep so that should be fun for him. You will have plenty of fun. Snowbird is one of my favorite mountains. Hope you guys have a great trip! And it is nice because it's about a half hour to SLC.
Thank you for watching and commenting Stephen! I stayed at the Extended Stay Inn. It's near a big shopping location with alot of stores and choices for food which is great when you get off the mountain for the day. Hope this helped out and thanks again for tuning in!
Between Alta and Snowbird there are plenty of runs to do for beginners. I will say Snowbird is on the steeper side but one of the most beautiful resorts I've ever skiied. If it seems too intimidating you can continue down the road to Alta. Ski on!
As a former LIFTY there I'd advise getting your legs under you first in Alta. The' BIRD is a steep place and the BUNNY hill (chickdee) is a medium green at some other local resorts. The Greens are like Blues, the Blues can be closer to Black diamonds in other less steep places...Its a BLAST but can take a heavy toll unless you are prepared for it. I had to learn from ZERO and manage the best i could. Improved at record pace...but it was hard on me. The "Bird will be an intimidating place for a rank beginner. I survived it however!! And LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it!!
I use ARTLIST. They have a cheap account you can use and it's about $9 a month and better if you pay up front. Well worth it in my opinion. Hope this helped and thanks again for watching!
It was definetly busy before Ikon. I've waited over 45 minutes for Mineral before. I promise you there are still plenty of empty areas around the mountain, just avoid MBX.
@@earlmanley4045 I'll be back this year for sure! That place is amazing. Reminded me so much of the Italian and French Alps! Have a great season my dude!
@@CoryGrasser I work at snowbirds lower parking lot on Saturdays. Stop by and see me, after 2:00 I could show you around more of the hill then you would find on your own
@MAsWorld1 Start at creekside, do some runs off gadzoom, and then move over to gad 2 and Little Cloud. Take a little cloud up and take the traverse to the mineral basin for a few laps. After that, ride down to the main center village and ride up the big tram for some laps off the cirque and then take Peruvian up for some more runs. If you want to go back to the mineral basin, there is a tunnel you can take at the top of that lift. You're welcome!👌
