I make a dish similar to this in my regular rotation of meals. I've always made the macaroni separately, but I didn't know you can throw it all in there like that! I made it like this tonight and it's great. I added a lot of garlic and sprinkled sharp cheddar on top. I'm going to buy that book.
What I do is kinda lighty brown the macarooni. Gives it a better taste along with meat. In but if oil, I saulte onion and bell papper, then add the meat. Add ground cumin n garlic powder, bit of pepper n salt to your taste. I do not use tomatoe sauce can. Different flavor! We use can of whole tomatoe, or diced roma put in blender add about 1 cup water (usually use chicken or beef broth low sodium) gives it more flavor. Pour in already brown meat add macaroni n stirring all together cover n simmer until pasta is tender n cooked.. This has always been at our table. Sometimes mother put in a small can of corn. Filling n delicious!😋😋😋👍❤
I made this for my family tonight. I added garlic and mushrooms because I needed to use them, with a side salad....I just got the thumbs up! So do you!
This is so delish with the added garlic. I LOVE garlic so i tend t always put more than called for I used close to 5 large cloves for this. Added a bit more pepper and some salt. Thank you Beth! Aloha from the mainland!!
I'm in University and I've got a really busy schedule, so I looked up a recipe for a meal that I could live off of for a few days. This was perfect. Thank you very much!
Looks yummy. Haven't tried cooking the pasta in the sauce before, glad you showed how :) I have a couple of the Gooseberry books, love them! Oh yeah, your hair doesn't look out of control, looks good.
I'm going to have to try this. My neighbor used to make something like this and called it pepper pot. I later found out that pepper pot is something totally different. Thanks for sharing this.
oooo love that you put the mac in dry - sometimes i want pasta but i am too lazy to boil drain, then make sauce blabla... and three cheers for worcestershire - yums!
Love your videos, even if its older videos. And my mom loves them too. And this video reminded me that she wished she had a blue chopping board because she loves all of your videos :) LOL! Keep up the awesome work!!!
Thank you for the recipe! I used some of the steps to make some rigatoni with the ground beef theat was laying around my freezer and it turned out real nice! :)
when I saw this I was like, Yes, I can do that and it looks great. I went to the store today and bought some ground beef (from the butcher not the slime crap from the display) and made it and it is really delicious! Thank you for the great recipe!!
I make this kinda like this but cook noodles separate. I make a rue. Grama always made the rue. Im baking it this time...something different, we will see. Cast iron pans r the best for cooking all and making the rue. No matter what...this looks good! Enjoy no matter how u make it!!!!!!
By the way forgot to mention. Your recipe works real well. Simple n easy n good. People on the go, its good though. I just though I shared our family recipe, easy also but with that extra ingredients .👍❤😋🥰
I use Manwich sauce 2 cans a can of Rotel along with the tomatoes and a little Worchestershire sauce but yours is similar to mine with the meat peppers onions and macaroni so good topped with grated cheese
Mmmm, looks like something I make from Farm Journal. Next time try subbing some salsa for the tomato sauce and top with some cheddar cheese. Yummy. Love your vids!
I come from New England and it's called American chop suey: Saute oniion and green pepper, both chopped(o/o) when soft add ground beef. s/p when brn. add a can of tomato paste. Stir. Cook elbow macaroni separately and add to meat mixture serving immediately. Try it this way I think u will be happy. Add s/p to oniions and grn pepper while they cook. This is not a spaghetti dish so it does not call for parm cheese. C
I've done this for years..you can substitute ground beef for either turkey or chicken, I don't use water be evaporated milk, let a bay leaf float in it, add rosemary, and cheese let simmer
Thanks for the "more garlic" comment. No matter how good we make things, there is always something we should have added more/less of. Us real eaters will plow through it and correct it next time. Good video.
Very nice. I make a hamburger goulash recipe that my mom used to make for us. Hope you'll take a look sometime. I like the blend of flavors you used in this. Thanks for the great idea!
The whole time I was watching this I was saying " where's the friggin garlic??" LOL Ive made this with Italian style diced tomatoes and that was really good too.
i just finished cleaning our apartment and was browsing your channel to see what to cook for tomorrow and i was surprised i saw your face here...!!!show us more your pretty face..thanks for your recipe..
Oh noes, ratings disabled? =[ -- I gotta give you a thumbs up for this one! You are one of the best cooks on youtube, hands down! Forget that stupid troll =D
I cook for a group once a month, this might be a good one to try! thanks. What would you think about doing the macaroni seperate instead of one pot cooking?
now this is the way it's done... thanx for the mention of the book. oh... i like stewed tomatos & will add a can along with garlic. Choice Blessings ! :-) In Jesus, Calvin
how much water should be put in if you want to double the recipe? I tried and my noodles came out too mushy and the sauce on it was slimy as well. So I have a huge pot of this stuff and we have to eat it don't want to waste. :(
Should have started the onion & green pepper first, then brown the beef... Where are the spices...??? Like garlic, dried mustard, salt, pepper, etc..???
MMMMMMMMMM, this is what we call goulash around here. This would be a great dinner for a working mom, esp the ones who get fast food for their kids every night! Throw some mozz on top next time...lol
@CookingAndCrafting Thanks that was sweet of you some people are finding me, and I also have been messaging people. Do you know a guy who make his own wine, sews, grows food MK????? I forgot this user name :(
