Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
We can also use other tools to remove hard ear wax, foreign bodies, peeling dead skin or for ear infection removal.
All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green at Audiology Associates.
We post new ear cleaning videos Monday - Friday at 9PM GMT so if you find ear wax removal satisfying please consider subscribing to our channel.
Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

Evidently someone doesn't watch until the end! How could they not watch? 😮 It's so incredibly fascinating. I guess they aren't diehard fans like the rest of us.

Does Rhys still put political propaganda into his videos? That might be a factor but I know I stopped watching his videos long ago for that reason. Just a thought! I am only here now to read a few comments.

I started watching this channel to better understand the anatomy of the ear as my grandson was experiencing ear pain. Now I am deep into watching your channel, still learning, and the grandson's issue has been addressed. As you have pondered the grammar, I would be happy to reply: easier means more easy so more easier is incorrect. The series easy, easier, easiest is the same as easy, more easy, most easy. English grammar was one of the best taught subjects by the Domincan Sisters at my school. I could also present a mini-lesson on proper use of pronouns since there is so much confusion around cases. However, languages change, and English is changing quickly now.

Is there any way to fix the retraction pocket so that skin will not collect there? The anatomy of the ear is so fascinating. It seems there are so many potential problems that suction uncovers and potentially prevents.

I buy special ear wash for my dogs from a company called bugalugs. It's all natural ingredients. When one of them gets claggy ears I put some in, massage then release him and he shakes and literally every bit of dirt and waxy flies out. So the other day, I tried it on myself. It worked! keratin and wax flowed out of my ear canal .

Dunno if you were asked this before, but to keep our ears wax free, do we need to visit the doctor’s office on a regular basis (say every 3 months or so) just to have them clean our ears?
@22Purplemist

Most people don't need to seek help as ears are self cleaning but if you do need them professionally cleaned, the frequency depends on what's going on in the ears and how fast your body creates wax/keratin

Can you tell there is a Cholesteatoma before you begin to clear out the ear? If you find one and it’s bad does it need to be cleared out under anesthesia? Love your videos. I’m from Scarsdale NY just north of NYC
@heatherexcell3078
@heatherexcell3078 6 месяцев назад
The only way to tell if there's a cholesteatoma without seeing it is with a CT or MRI - which patients with cholesteatomas are usually given, because often most of it is out of sight behind the eardrum. This wasn't technically a cholesteatoma yet, but it would have turned into one if it hadn't been cleared - a bit like a pre-cancerous mole might turn into cancer if it's not removed in time. Any cholesteatoma needs to be removed surgically, as quickly as possible, because they can be life-threatening if they grow towards the brain, and they can cause serious bone infections in parts of the skull - and they can cause hearing loss too, of course. Surgeons will actually drill away parts of the skull if that's what it takes to get rid of all the cholesteatoma.

On the third person, could he have had tubes put in for chronic ear infections as a child? I can imagine that if the tube wasn’t removed correctly that it can cause massive problems.
@heatherexcell3078
@heatherexcell3078 6 месяцев назад
The tubes don't usually need to be removed, the body pushes them out by itself after a while. It's more likely that the patient never grew out of whatever caused them to need the tubes in the first place - Eustachian tube dysfunction can lead to glue ear, but it can also lead to retraction pockets like this patient has.
