Spot on review of the ENYAQ. I got mine as i needed a high boot. 2years on, absolutely love it. Cheap to run. (Im averaging about 4miles/kwh). Spacious and comfortable. Paid for the faster charging (now std) amd heat pump with the smaller battery as the time difference is minimal

So glad you have covered the Skoda Enyaq IV60, most reviews are the IV80 loaded with extras. I have had cars on the Motability Scheme for some years and I definitely favour another EV. Unfortunately EVs with a decent range are either not available or expensive on their deposits. I currently have a Kona 64kw, a great car but I cannot tow my folding camper with it, so the Enyaq fits the bill. I will be getting an IV60 when I'm due to change my car, thanks for reviewing this model as it has helped me make up my mind. The IV60 is currently available for nil deposit, a bargain.

As ever another great RSEV video. That said, one of your best comparators was missing: miles (or km) per minute of charging. For those that only charge at home, this is (mostly) irrelevant, but for those using rapid charging, I suggest this is a key metric to consider. Miles/minute of charging takes account of both vehicle efficiency and average charging speed (as opposed to peak charging speed), which dictates how long you’ll spend charging for a given distance travelled. On longer trips, in particular, that’s a key difference. Thanks for another really good video!
@xxwookey

And the Iyoniq5 wins on that measure. It can charge really fast (and stay fast, more so than most others). But none of them are bad.

I ordered my Skoda Enyaq 80 in November 2020 before I had even seen it in the metal. My thinking was that I wanted a bigger boot for my dogs. I ticked a few options boxes and paid about £48,000, I included the heat pump. I have been very happy with it, although the wait was agonising! I have a client who has an Audi Q4 Etron which was much more expensive and not as big, and doesn't FEEL like an £10, 000 more expensive car. I thought that there would be a waiting list as big battery packs are expensive, and a lot of people would choose the Skoda.There are still a few badge snobs who simply couldn't have a Skoda on their drive, but not too many. And now the wait is 14 months if you are lucky and have ordered an expensive coupe version. Although I cart my dogs around in it, it still feels premium and drives beautifully. I am very pleased with it. Great review.

Thanks for sharing! I agree we tried the q4 the enyaq and the quality difference was very minimal. There was just no way to justify paying for the audi. I have an Enyaq Iv60 Lounge as my company car - when I leased it, all the interior options were around the same price (within £500 of each-other, equipment was the same on all - it was just styling choice). I can confirm it is a GREAT all-rounder, queiter and more comfrotable than many, also very spoacious & practical for alarge family. My only real gripes are: (1) the initial software release was very buggy (locked screen etc.) - there is a new version, BUT it's no over-the-air, it is dealer installation (2 hours). (2) lots of cost-options e.g. you mentioned USB sockets, but also fast-charge, heat-pump, different driving modes etc. I don't think a heat pump is essential in the UK, but fasy-charge shoudl have been standard, as should USB sockets in rear. The way they bundle some of the options is weird, so you end up getting things you don;t want/need just to get the one important thing. BUT, I don't like paying extra for safey options like adaptive cruise, or blind-spot detection - car makers should be forced to make those standard imo. Having said that I get 3.5-3.8 m/kwh - which is good for the size of vehicle with a great boot. The interior is FAR better than the ID4 and ID3 - which are just "plasticky". The looks are contentious for sure, but Skoda is all about angles in their design ethos. Surprisingly quick for a big beast, I've clocked 7 secs 0-60mph - it has great low-end punch from 0-50, and 40-60... but loses acceleration from 70-90. As a first attempt by Skoda it is a great all-rounder. Sure the Ioniq/EV6 have more tech... but also cost a lot more once you spec them out.

Expecting mine next month :) We tried Kia EV6 (love the styling but the headrest bumped my head and the long wait removed my enthusiasm), tried Ioniq 5, nothing wrong, just didn't inspire. Tried a Model 3 and didn't like it. I couldn't get my feet under the rear seats and being a saloon didn't solve anything for me. Went back a few months later to try a Model Y and didn't hate it, I'll be hooking up a trailer to it, just to out drag the kiddies off the lights in their fartcans for giggles. (I should be too old for those larks but some things never get old right?! ;) ) The other factors that swayed me to Tesla in the end were the maturity of the technology in terms of efficiency, supercharger network (having previously had a Leaf and gave up on the concept of public charging) and the wait time was *only* six months. We actually don't need another car but with the number of muppets that seem to infest the roads now, a car with a better safety score became a higher priority.

first?🎉 great video as always! if I were öooking for a family car the Enyaq would have been on the list. but the iV80 (doing too much long distance for a smaller battery) with logs of necessary addons here in CZ easily crosses 65000€ . but indeed I also poved the interior (the interior of the smaller version I even preferred over the higher level ones) one big advantage I think the Tesla MY RWD and Model 3 RWD is that they have an LFP which one can charge to 100%, giving a bit more range

After driving the ID3 from VW for work, (similar in quality to the ID4 from reviews Ive watched which Skoda shares its platform etc with) then sitting in an Enyaq as we considered one, I think the Skoda embarrassed the VW’s for premium feel. Wonder how that goes in the board room discussions with Skoda supposing that be the ‘budget’ brand of the VW/Audi group? I say this as I just don’t think it is budget in its feel at all compared to VW’s options. 🤔

I bought the Model Y new 12 miles on the clock loaded up for two of us, clothes and essential stuff . We had not even got anything in showing in the rear. Put in two bikes and away we went. One charge from Newcastle to The Tunnel. Charged at the Tunnel then drove all the way to Reims (200 miles avoiding tolls) for the next charge. We got to Beaune to visit the longest Tesla supercharger in the world 28 charges all in a line. Once on the journey the car told us to not exceed 115 kilometres per hour to reach the charger we had planned to stop at, so we just selected another charger on route. No problem charging in 2400 miles. No need for a back wiper, as on the way back it was torrential rain and lorry spray. the rear screen did not get one bit of water on it. Its not all good though. the automatic headlights are terrible and don't even adjust automatically for driving on right, and the auto wipers are poor waiting at times till the windscreen was obscured before a wipe. Other times they turned on in clear sunny conditions. My 7 year old Ford Mondeo had way better auto lights and wipers. Auto pilot made motorway driving so easy. Don't think the running costs are cheap compared to ICE Mondeo insurance £350 Tesla £1000. You have to do a lot of miles to make up that. One other thing get a pass for the toll roads as even with a passenger the Y is wider at the base than it is at the window and reaching for the ticket and paying is a nightmare. Scraping the wheels is a big risk getting close enough.

When we were looking for a second EV last year we considered all of these. MY was out of our price range, Ionic 5 looks great but we felt the boot wasn’t gonna be big enough for our dogs. We were going to order an Enyaq as it seemed like an ID4 with a better Infotainment and HVAC setup, but we were going to have to wait over a year. In the end we got a Q4 E-Tron which is marginally smaller in the boot but otherwise very similar to Enyaq. Monthly payments were virtually identical (yes the Enyaq had more equipment), but we liked the look of the Q4 better and I was able to get one in 3 months. 11 months later I’ve no regrets 👍🏻

I think EV9 is more of a niche segment. It's really large like Tesla model X or KIA Sorento. Not everyone needs that big cars. So you won't have a good highway consumption, it will be pricy (around 70k for a good spec I assume) and of cause the large size is not that nice when your driving profile is mainly in town. Really depends on your preferences though.

Also like the proposed looks and details of EV9 but I think when spec'd with everything you'd want it'll be BMW IX money or close too!

You can get Fiat 500e laPrima for around £30k with similar range. So £10k less though much smaller so good for couples. But it is one of the best EV for range-to-price ratio and with great build quality. The 500e is build from scratch and has nothing in common with the ICE version, other than name and similar shape though it is wider and taller.

Last September I tried all of these together with an Audi Q4 and VW ID4. In terms of the best car the Tesla was my favourite, followed by the Ionic 5 and then Q4/Enyaq tied for 3rd. However the Tesla was massively expensive to lease (didn’t have the SR then) and the Ionic 5 not practical enough for camping trips etc. Went for the Q4 in the end as it was cheaper than the Enyaq (on my company scheme). Have to say though they are all great cars - wish the SR Model Y had been around then though!

The thing with the buttons is a critic I will never understand. Its fancy that Tesla etc don't need a button, but it comes with its negatives. Especially when the cars will switch on/off when you actually don't want that to happen. For example when getting out of the car I may want to keep everything running (in case of EVs that means all connections are kept alive, climate still active etc etc) With just a simple button that decision now rests in the hand of the driver. And of course the Hyundai also got the ability to switch on and off with a button press on the remote key if desired.

Have I5, but selling it to get MY RWD. Just need more boot space. Enyaq has a long wait time, and quickly gets $$$. MY RWD is only €50k in 🇳🇱. Also, it has much more WLTP than the others with 58 kWh battery. Even similar to I5 73 kWh on 20".

We just did back to back test drives of the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Nissan Ariya, over the same route and all within a 3 hour period. There was a constant whine from the motors on the Kia, which would get on my nerves after a bit, the Hyundai was a lot quieter and definitely smoother than the Kia, but our favourite and currently top of our shortlist was the Nissan Ariya, really impressed with the interior, smoother ride than even the Hyundai and just a little higher seating position, a bit more like we're used to in our Skoda Kodiaq. It's down to a choice of the Ariya or an Audi e-tron Sportback.

Any car with the charge port on a different side than the Tesla has a big problem, as the Tesla supercharging network is by far the biggest and least problematic charging network. And they are opening it up more and more now.

I was all set for an Enyaq earlier this year. Loved the drive, loved the practicality. Just a solid, solid family wagon. But,.... There was a 12 month waiting list and my then car's lease was up in 6. A quick word with the Hyundai dealership down the road told me they had an unreserved Ioniq 5 waiting on the docks of Korea for a ship,... Which was lucky. They also offered me a Lease deal that was cheaper than the Enyaq PCP per month. So I now have an Ioniq 5, which is an absolutely TREMENDOUS car for long distance driving. Long range, extremely fast charging, so, so comfortable to drive. Still have a soft spot for the Enyaq that got away but I've no regrets.

Just looking at speccing the Skoda, but was disappointed it only has a centre rear lap belt, no 3 pointer. For a family vehicle for a family of 5, that's a straight fail. No idea of the other two have a 3point centre seatbelt and think they are all missing a trick! Shame. Looking like a hybrid for me if I ever manage to leave my diesel.

Although I'd choose the TMY over the others because of the obvious benefits of Supercharging and comfortably superior software, I am slightly intrigued by the Skoda. And I wonder how it compares to its group sibling VW ID4. I've been informed that the Skoda has better software than the ID4 [which wouldn't be difficult], but from what I can see it's a larger display [nice] and different graphics. The base software behind it is probably just as poor and laggy. Be very nice if it wasn't.

Comparison vid of exactly that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ALLG8aK-8c4.html TLDR: the Skoda was better than the ID4. And the software+buttons were good too.

@@xxwookey Hmm, yeah. Watched the video. Didn't surprise me too much that the ID4 was 3rd. It's pretty uninspiring, and although they still didn't really show it, the software is decidedly poor. One happy day one of these car reviewers is going to realise that a modern BEV is a computers on wheels. Therefore that enlightened reviewer will test the on-board Sat Nav in detail. How easy is it to use, what are it's good and bad points. Does it get you there, which ever way you want it to? Voice Control - can the bloody thing understand me? Example - ID Series VWs can't, and many functions don't come under the Voice Command menu. Why not? Which car software does? What about rapid charger identification and availability, and battery pre-conditioning? How clunky and lagging is it? Is it that bad that you just give up and connect to Android Auto or Apple Car Play? Or is it that good that the next time you use your phone is to text someone while the car drives itself? And how good is that software? Will it kill you or keep you safe? Do you see what I'm getting at? Nobody compares these things. Tesla YTers post video after video of this stuff because they know how good the car software is. But that's a Tesla. Nobody does a detailed comparison view. Is it because they're all pretty crappy or because the reviewers don't know how to? Because this stuff is important and will become very much more so, as autonomous cars arrive.
@xxwookey
@xxwookey Год назад
@@ramblerandy2397 Bjorn tests that stuff. And Doug DeMuro to some degree. But yes most don't go into any detail. VW's software _architecture_ is actually pretty good (better that Tesla, who know how to make it pretty but clearly are a bit clueless about embedded development - it's amazing how well it works considering what's under the hood.) VW have gone the other way. Good underlying architecture, but a really crummy hardware implementation and a load of annoying bugs and missing UI features. The main problem from my point of view is all of this stuff is totally proprietary so I can't fix any of when stuff is anoying and broken. Like the Buzz not having a camping mode should be a trivial software fix, but we've not got any access to do that. So I'm really waiting for either some manufacturer to get a clue and make something hackable (aptera have promised to do so) or people to work out how to get in and root it anyway. Any new car I buy will basically be locked-down, as opposed to my current old mechanical machine (or my phone/laptop/router) where I can do whatever I like - the whole control system is fettleable. This is not an improvement (apart from the 'no more diesel' part).

I have ordered the Skoda IV4 80. What decided it for me was the cheaper price than the Tesla, big boot, ability to fit roof bars and still have a sunroof. With that we can go on a camping holiday and also have room for the dog. As far as Tesla supercharging is concerned, that is pretty overrated. There are plenty of alternatives and a charging network dedicated to one make might have made sense in the past but will become as daft as Ford having a network of garages selling petrol specially for Ford cars.

Objective view. . Skoda It's potentially the EV Mondeo Repmobile. (That's coming from a former Model diesel Estate driving Service Rep) . Fleet managers and BIK drivers(!) will like the price/ tax, fleet running costs, etc. Supercharger availablity will help the case. Same "Mondeo" 8.5 0-60, won't get you too many tickets, space, ride, sufficient features. . Space for spares in the back(!) "VW Killer". Has a bit more Character than its cousins. . Hyundai. Liked the retro look when I saw it...... In certain colours.... (silver/ blue) not black... Has (imo) the "Kia problem" of looking like they couldn't get the lines quite right so they stuck bits on to truck the eye. I suspect the access is easier than the Kia (which I tried) for Tall chaps? (me) Same rather haphazard controls (voice control?) Seats, usb, etc good. Headroom? Better than the Kia? Again.... Shallow (Kia) in the boot (but better roofline?) . Charge port better than the Kia which looked like it would be broken quite easily. . Tesla. It's a Tesla. Firm= funtion Frunk Efficiency (reliable efficiency!) Clean inside, (not 1990 hi-fi controls) Ui just ...... better. Voice control Great navigation (including to chargers) (I'd have the black trim!) Boot space 👍including the *double* underfloor and side bins (Richard, make some accessory bags to fit those bins! £££) Oh.... Charging, of course!! . "Horses for courses" but if the Fleet Manager told me I was getting the Skoda I wouldn't punch him! . (Subject to the 3 way test? 😉)

@simonjenkins982
@simonjenkins982 2 года назад
Having had an Enyaq 80 from January 2022 it is the worst car that I have had in 46 years. The faults started about day 3. One on the motorway when the car thought it was on the slip road and approaching a roundabout as I cruised past at 60mph could have caused an accident. Because the car thought it was not on the motorway and had come off and was approaching a roundabout it applied the brakes itself. If a vehicle had been following closely and I had not reacted quickly then it could have been another story. I have had traffic assist faults. Indicator faults. The steering wheel replaced. Airbag faults and volume control issues. The puddle lights are faulty, mirrors do not always fold when using the control wheel. The front nearside door does not always unlock. Breakdown attended yesterday to airbag fault, came up in red words on the small screen. Could be a faulty steering wheel, or communication error or faulty hardware or software. I have had enough of this car and I will be asking Skoda for a full refund as it is not fixed, cost 50K and is a disaster. My wife is now refusing to travel in the car. I was told by the garage that this is the worst one that they have sold. The car could be very good if it weren't for the terrible build quality ?

I think it would be a useful addition to your reviews to compare usability of the infotainment systems whilst driving. E.g. try searching for a song or track on a USB drive or streaming media. Try searching or changing nativigation destination.

A Shanghai factory Tesla Model Y (no parcel shelf) I test drove had the worst ride of any stock car I’ve experienced. It was ok on smooth roads but over broken tarmac and pot holes, you felt beaten up it jostled so much. Made my friends Porsche 911 feel like a limo in comparison. Definitely a deal breaker.
